    I recently used a similar strap on my denim pleaty! I love the cross body look. The trick I used is that the base of the d-ring, which is under the leather (flat part of the D) is actually much thinner than the rest of the D ring. So if you just push the leather to the side, hook it on at the base, and then spin it to the round part, it works too! I show it in my video here: ua-cam.com/video/ruQuvUt0Y9I/v-deo.html .

      I had no idea that part of the d-ring is thinner! Thank you so much for telling me about this. I'm going to pin your post so it shows up at the top of my page for others to see. Your video is great, too, and I just subscribed to your channel. :)

    Your solution and thinking to go to the hardware store is brilliant. Well done! I have gotten crafty and made handbag liners and shapers by cutting plastic detergent and/or bleach bottles to size. I love using bleach bottles since there is no chance of color transfer, though even with colored ones I've had no issues. Be sure to wash them very well. Round off all corners. I use a regular paper hole punch to make anchor points for yarn or cord (I use white to again avoid dye transfer) to help hold the shape I want. Those holes can also serve as points to hook the handle clips onto. These help protect the handles inside the bag, protect the lining, brighten the interior to make it easier to find things, and help the bag hold it's shape better. Each bag is different, so it might take some experimenting to get things right. Luckily the materials are cheap and readily accessible. You can sand the edges with sandpaper or emery boards to make them snag-free and smooth. If they are noisy for you, try using a spray adhesive to cover the liner with a layer of fabric.

    First of all love your necklace!!! I have actually never considered getting a denim bag but you are making it look good, it would go with my casual style! I was just thinking you need to get a liner to protect your vachetta strap and then you mentioned that. I love it Autumn!! Congrats and ENJOY!!!

    Oh great video! I have several Marc Jacob era bags and the rings are crazy thick and my straps won’t clip. Granted that’s when LV had the best hardware.

  • @shelbysawyer6352
    @shelbysawyer6352 5 років тому +1

    I love all the iterations you went through! For the strap inside the bag, you could wrap it in a semi thick plastic bag, like what some bags come wrapped in when shipped to the store. Run tape along the edges so it stays together but keep the ends open so it can still breath. It won’t get scratched and if you still want to order a liner you can but you can also use it in the mean time. :)

    LV Keepall straps work for that. I use it to make my Graceful crossbody bag. And the graceful strap ring is really thick!

    • @AutumnBeckman
      @AutumnBeckman  5 років тому +1

      Yes, that strap is just too thick (in my opinion) for this smaller bag. I do that with my Delightful, though. It also has the thick rings. I use the strap from my Noe to which I added similar bolt snaps.

    You could have used the existing strap. Get a shorter crossbody strap and clip it to the existing one then clip the new one to the other side with the clip you used in the end. Did I explain that right?! Lol

    • @AutumnBeckman
      @AutumnBeckman  5 років тому +2

      You did. I thought about that but didn't want the clip showing in the middle of the strap. In that case I'd also need to find a strap that exactly matches the existing one. And I'd still need a clip for the other side that fit over the d-ring.

    Those thick rings look great but do pose a problem when you are trying to find a strap! Your solution looks great! I'm wondering if it wouldn't be safer to take the original strap off. I guess it depends on how often you will switch it up. I agree with you that the bag works better as a cross body. It looks great on you! xoxo

    • @AutumnBeckman
      @AutumnBeckman  5 років тому +1

      I did videos about my least favorite...the Trevi GM. I sold it a few months ago. There's a lot I love about that bag but also things I couldn't deal with and ultimately it didn't work for me. My favorite in my collection is my Turenne MM. I have videos on that, too. Good idea, though. I'll add it to my idea list.

    Wow, what a pain to figure out. But it was totally worth it. That bag works much better as a crossbody. Maybe you could also just hook the longer strap onto your shorter strap. That way the would patina at the same rate.

    • @AutumnBeckman
      @AutumnBeckman  5 років тому

      I could but then I'd have the big LV clip visible part of the way up the strap and I'd have to find a shorter strap that exactly matches everything about the strap already on this bag.

    couldn't you also leave the original strap out and connect it to the crossbody strap. Then you only need 1 additional bolt clip, you don't have to worry about damaging the vachetta by what you put in the interior.

    the strap is not strong enough to hold the bag/up in a cross body position eventually the weight of the bag will weigh it all down and the strap will snap this bag is not meant to support a cross body strap

    • @AutumnBeckman
      @AutumnBeckman  5 років тому +2

      Well, that's not true at all. The vachetta strap is strong and the bag is so small that, unless you're filling the bag with weights, it won't get heavy enough to damage the bag or the strap.
