When I saw this video pop up, I ran and made a mug of tea and cut a slice of zucchini bread to tuck in to the video! Be prepared for a blow by blow commentary! The closet is huge for an apartment closet, and it's wonderful that you are able to add shelving, or that you are able to get the boyfriend to add shelving I should say! Maybe move the CDs, DVDs, and curtains to colder storage since you don't use them ... somewhere harder to get to and that you don't see as often. Ok. Not that you need another project, but what if you draped the curtains somehow over the paintings you are storing. You used the words "I hate seeing all this here". They'd still be there, but it would be cleaner to your eye. I completely agree on being able to see everything. Seeing things in your closet that you wear and use doesn't look like clutter to my eye. Certainly not when it's in the closet. Love love love your jewelry collection! Love that you wear it and enjoy it. Also love that you have decorated your closet with signs and paintings! Tie racks are brilliant for purse charms!! I'm not sure if this will work visually, but would it make sense to move some of the things that you don't use often and move them from the bottom shelves to the top so that you could move purses lower where your could see and reach them better? Your clothes are so neat and organized! Love the idea of a capsule wardrobe! There are so many different philosophies on them. I would love to hear your thoughts! Love that you have all of your accessory categories together for easy viewing and selecting! So want to see that guitar strap as a purse strap! The scarves look great rolled up! Agree on the shoe storage. They look great! Those hanging jewelry organizers seem to work really well. Thanks for sharing Autumn!
Hi Autumn... I totally understand the whole dust bag thing... I couldn't stand all my bags being "hidden" inside the cloth dust bags, so I use clear plastic bags instead so the dust stays off and I can still see what I have. In reality, unless a bag was stored in one place and never moved for months, it could accumulate dust, but if you use your bags they really don't get dusty even if they are not covered at all. most bags wipe off so easily. I have some bags hanging without covers. My one and only real Hermes bag ( Birkin ), I hang by the handles so the weight of it will not make creases in the body of the bag if it was sitting on a shelf.
Great video, Autumn! Congrats on your HUGE, well-organized closet! And your OWN, too! Love that extra large tall wall-mirror. My first thought about brightening your dark closet for photos was to reflect light off your ceiling with clip-on lights. But since the ceiling is not white, you might paint it (if allowed), or hang or tack white cloth, paper, or poster board to create a white to bounce light off & light up your closet. That might help show your things better as well. Several ideas I can use, too. Well done, Autum❣ 💖💞💖
Love the tour and your thoughtful "why" of using the space. We have a lot in common in the sense of, we both display our jewelry, scarfs and purses. And I have books, photos and bits of art peppered throughout my shelves and wall space. I loved how you used the bookshelf on its side, creative! Jill Maurer made great observations and suggestions. My suggestion would be to display your bags at an angle. And if there are ones you want to leave in a dust bag, maybe put a photo on the outside of the bag. I love the idea of the lights on your mirror also. I checked out the capsule wardrobe and would love to know more and if you explore that and how you adapt that for yourself. And as others commented, so great to see the dogs!
You are so organized! James Avery was my next door neighbor when I was growing up in Laredo. Sadly, much of my Jewelry from him was stolen but many fond memories of him - he was quite a character!
Thank you for this video. Your closet is huge! Two of our closets are half the size of yours and the others a quarter size. I love how The Boyfriend provided storage for future purchases! He's a keeper. As for the dust bags, don't be afraid to store them in a box so you can see your bags. You don't have a window letting in sunlight into your closet, so you don't have to worry about sun damage or extra patina. I ditched my dust bags several months ago and I think it's one of the best decisions I ever made when it comes to storage. Finally, I would love to see a video of your capsule wardrobe concept.

Way to make the most of the vertical space with all the extra shelving! Love your walk-in and the pretty ways you display your accessories. I thought I saw a step ladder - my daughter works in retail and they have a long grabber-sort of thing to get things that are displayed high up. Maybe you could find/use one of those things and eliminate the need to keep the ladder in there. But it looks very nice. Love the big mirror too. In my house, we have the two long closets in the master bedroom. The hubs graciously ceded his to me and keeps his clothes elsewhere. So I’m looking to take out the basic rod/upper shelf that’s in each and put in modular shelving. Probably coated wire, like you have, since I think it’s really practical. You’ve given me some great ideas.
Really enjoyed your closet tour! It’s amazing how many hobby items you are able to fit in there. Sewing , painting, photography, and even clothes! It’s like something out of Harry Potter! Like the tent. That being said, love your organizational skills.
I know what you mean about the purses, covered or uncovered. I would love to see mine outside of their protective bags. Too bad they can’t make breathable clear ones.

Definitely take your bags out of the dust bags! That’s what I do and it’s so much more pleasing to the eye and reminds me of what I have. I would put something solid over the wire shelving first so that you don’t get indentations on the bottom of your bags. Would love to hear about your unintentional capsule wardrobe!
Thanks for the closet tour. You have great organizations skills. I'm still trying to finalize organizing my closet-frequently re arranging things. I think you should display your bags out of the dust bags so you can see your beautiful bags. Maybe only store those with vachetta that you don't want exposed in their dust bags. I just like seeing mine and it makes it easier to decide which one I want to carry.
I too have a hard time getting rid of nice shopping bags. Some I display them in my closet and store miscellaneous things in them.

I would enjoy hearing about a capsule wardrobe. You have such a nice huge closet. It could be a dressing room. I have multi closets and they are all full of everything. When I was working, everything was arranged by colour and function. I have turned into a sloth compared to you. You have your things displayed so nicely. Ye, lets chat about Capsule Wardrobe....don't know anything about it and I keep shopping bags too and I just recently got rid of a bunch. I think it goes back to the days when I lived in NYC and shopping bags were how I got stuff to and from work. Like my pumps to change into when I got to work.

Your closet is similar to mine. I think about those lovely closets with all the bright white shelving and lighting and dream about doing that to mine. But! I can't bear the thought of spending the money on it instead of a new LV! Lol! My thought is this...as long as I know where everything is and it works, then I'm good!

Love the way you have managed to put to work every single inch of the space you have! I am super organized as well and I admire your organization skills and clever use of limited space. I loved the paintings being displayed in your former apt. I don't think it made it look "cluttered" at all- I thought at first it was a picture of a French decorating magazine. Oh my, your closet is so organized and just thinking of mine is giving me anxiety. In a month we will be moving in with my in laws because we are moving out of the country in June for summer internships so we don't see the point in getting an apartment for a few months. But HOW can I move all of my stuff into a room that doesn't have a closet(a former garage turned into a room). Thinking about it makes me anxious lol.

Wow that is a huge closet to me. I have a small walk in closet and am inspired to become a little more minimalistic because I am moving somewhere new in July. Not sure whether in this state or out. In discussions with my son about it. I love the doggies making their appearance. I have heard of a capsule wardrobe. I store a few sweaters and long sleeve tops in a Target plastic bin because we found silverfish have been eating holes in clothes although we have pest control, pepperment, bags of sage, etc, essential oils and nothing seems to work here! Your collections are quite impressive. I own 2 scarves. Will someday get more if I move North of here. 💜💎💜
You have done a great job organizing your closet and keeping items you need to see to use in full view! But with all your hobbies and interests...you really could use another bedroom. The boyfriend has a full bedroom and you could use one too. However you are doing a fabulous job keeping everything organized.

What I like to do with old calendars/old documents I want to get rid of but also may need in the future to reference is just take a pic of them on my phone, and I upload them to google photos :) that way you can erase them from your phone and then you can shred them/get rid of the physical copy!
