great job on the video. enjoyed the tutorial and the section showing the thought process. Most of the time the hardest thing is to how to spark an idea.
Thanks :) Just start working, and the creativity usually starts to flow. You'll eventually come up with something cool if you stay with it long enough!
@@macymakes3d well I mean I am old. Just not THAT old 🤣 Atleast I hope not? 😬 36 isn’t all that old is it?! Getting older is no fun. I think they’re super cute but I have fuzzy and ceramic pumpkins of purple, green, gray and blue around my house year round 😝
These are amazing. Super jealous of your filament room. If I were to leave any filament in the open air like that it would be nearly useless the next day all waterlogged. Can't wait for blackfriday/cyber monday this year. Need to get me a new printer as mine is ~5 years old and it's so slow any hueforge print I've done is in the 10-12h time frame.
Thanks :) It's pretty humid here too, I'll definitely be adding a dehumidifier to the room for next summer. Hopefully the black Friday deals come through big this year. Lots of fast, multicolor printing options out there now.
Thank you for this and all of your content. I am still learning hueforge but just watching helped me understand some basics. I am trying to understand something about your filaments and the AMS and your design. I thought that you mostly specified Overture filaments … but when you loaded the AMS it seemed that you used alot of Bambu filament (spools at least). Did you respool all the Overture … and do you have any problems with cardboard spools in the AMS?
I do love overture, but a lot of the filaments I chose for my hueforge prints ended up being the bambu matte filaments. I use overture for my Etsy products but I’ll mix in some other brands when I’m doing art pieces. I used the overture orange, white, and black for most of the bookmark prints but every print needed orange so I also used the bambu orange.
Probably! Even if it doesn’t have a pattern function you can just copy the image into a 2x2 or 3x3 square to create the pattern. And then use a mask for the part you want to keep.
Now a fun question: How are you calculating the price for something like that? Are you able to track everything precise enough? And how long does it take you to be profitable after you created a new design?
Tough to say because of the software subscriptions required to make them. That adds a bit of extra cost but I use those programs for other things as well. They’re not the most profitable selling online especially with shipping costs, but I bet at craft fairs they’d do pretty well. You can get 4 on a plate so maybe a dollar or so in filament and print time costs. I think ok Etsy I have them listed as $6.99 for the small and then 8.99 for the large.
Macy, 1st I LOVE your channel, thanks for putting out such great content. What are your thoughts on subscriptions to Midjourney, which level do you use? Its my understanding that unless you pay for the pro tier ($60 a month) whatever images you generate are available to all Midjourney users, if that's the case do you worry about people taking your designs?
Thanks :) I’m glad you’re here! I just use the lowest tier for midjourney. If people want my designs they can have them haha. If I was a master prompter or had a secret method for my prompts maybe I’d keep them hidden but for most things I just typed in “pumpkin” haha so not much to be stolen there.
This is a great video and I love the bookmarks-all of them (but I'm not a kiddo anymore...). If I may ask, to which level of Midjourney do you subscribe? More specifically, I am wondering if one can do the amount of work you do on the basic plan.
Thanks! :) I just use the basic level... $10 a month I think. I don't use it very often, but it was plenty of generations for the video. Start with the basic, and then if you find you're using it more than it allows, upgrade then.
@@macymakes3d Thanks. It looks you get a lot of bang for your 10 bucks. I would just be using it occasionally, probably in spurts, like you seem to do. I appreciate how you showed that you can get great results without being a prompt guru.
Really dialing in the video production. This was an awesome video and answered several of the questions I was having about how to make use of the hueforge capabilities with the Bambu Printer. One key item was how to use multiple colors when my AMS only held 4 colors. You specifically answered how to put a Pause and then change the filament colors. What I didn't hear @time around 22:15 as when you reloaded the new spools and to the spots you vacated, how Bambu Studio knew how to use those AMS slots for the final two colors to finish the print. Did I miss it or beside Pause is there a command to tell it how to use light blue and white. Yu said it would start over with 5 and 6 in slot 1 and 2. How does it know to use slot 1and 2?
Dang, I did skip that info. When you hit "print" and you start assigning colors for the AMS, assign color 5 to the same slot as color 1, and assign color 6 to the same slot as color 2. You won't be able to change the color in the computer for colors 5 and 6, but if you assign it correctly and then change the colors in the AMS at the pause, it'll know to print from the correct slots.
@@macymakes3d awesome...will give that a try. I know I don't have the same filmanet choices but will see what i can do with your files and using some of my own similar colors. Now I gotta make some time to actually try. May take awhile (or not). I m going on a road trip and ow't have my printer close by. Thak you for the quick response.
@@macymakes3d I could really do with 9 right now! I'm selling small items that take 1 hour to print on eBay. Sales are crazy, I sell 30+ per day which means I'm selling out by the end of the day. I only have a P1S and A1. My second P1S arrived damaged so it's being sent back. I may have to give in and buy a couple more A1's. The quality is as good as the P1S!
Those dang pumpkin spouts, always messing things up! I have yet to explore Hueforge...what is the minimum thickness? I'm sure it can go thin but you probably lose flexibility w/ less layers. I have a thing I print that is only 8 layers (@ .12mm), so not sure if I could make something to fit into that sizing. Also, is it possible to flip a Hueforge and print it face down? Or is the top layer not 'flat', as in, some colors are raised up (as I think you mentioned on some designs). As far as pausing to change colors in the AMS, you don't HAVE to....once it uses color 1 and moves on to color 2, you can simply replace the spool in slot 1. I'd have to go back and see how you set it up, but doing it this way, you'd have to assign color 1 and 5 as 'the same color', so it goes back to slot 1. As always, another great video Macy!
Yep, you're right about not pausing. My method is the same as what you said, I just put the pause there so I remember to go change out the slots. Otherwise I'd forget and it would just keep printing haha. And for printing face down, I think it's possible, but not something I've figured out yet. Expect a video on it as soon as I do though :)
They take around 4 hours for the 2 bookmarks. Print time doesn't increase all that much adding extras to the plate. Maybe max 6ish hours for a full plate.
I don't usually dry PLA. I will if it's causing print issues but normally I'll just use it right out of the package or off the wall. I do dry PETG out of the package though.
It's easily accessible for most people, and I really just enjoy the mystery of what the generator will come up with. I don't use AI that often. Mainly just for videos :)

Love seeing your channel growing. SPONSORSHIP!!! Go Macy. Oh and ty for the tips!
Thanks Tommy :) Excited for the growth, but also just grateful to be here!
To help with the raised parts, you could always do a quick light coat of UV resin over the top. It will give it a little shine and make it smoother
True! That would be a cool way to experiment with some resin. Thanks for the tip :)
That’s a great way to use those almost empty spools of filament instead of just tossing them in the bin. 😊
Great step by step video!
Look awesome! I’ve been printing face down and on a textured plate and it prints 100% flat. It’s a trick I learned when searching for coasters
I need to get better at that. Some of these would've looked amazing face down.
When you make it big enough you attract sponcers lol. Nice work. Love your work as usual. Greats tips.

So glad to see a post. I was getting worried since West NC is in dire straits right now. Hope you and your family are safe and sound.
Thank you for thinking of us
Thanks for the video. Also thanks for showing how to deal with more than four colors in the AMS and Hueforge.
No problem :) Glad you're here!
Excellent! Very creative and informative! I love those bookmarks. Thank you!

Love it! I really really like the witch one. And the “older crowd” pumpkins 😆
Great job! 😊
Hahaha thanks! Maybe they'll appeal to more than just the older crowd lol, that was just what came out when filming 😆

Looks like a good time to have two AMS units on one of your printers. Another great video!
Thanks! I actually ran all of these on a single AMS, I just added pauses to make sure I could swap out the filaments at the right time.

great video! what are you thinking of using the smaller version of the bookmarks for?
Just giving different size options. I list both sizes in my Etsy shop and the small ones actually sell pretty well.
Can I use Inkscape to do what adobe illustrator does as rather expensive? Love all the content you create 😊
