How to pair iPhone with Amazon Echo Dot and use it as a Bluetooth speaker

- The Amazon Echo Dot is a fantastic bit of kit and it doesn't just support wireless, it also has Bluetooth built-in which means you can use it as a wireless speaker by pairing it to your iPhone - this also works on Android phones. The pairing process is really simple and it just works, hope this video helps anybody trying to figure this out.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

dude, hats off... I talked to amazon support for an hour and in the end they told me that apple doesn't connect via bluetooth. then my co-worker told me that her friends can connect via bluetooth and found your video on youtube. solved the issue. thanks, mate!

It works just fine from my computer but as soon as I try to play anything from my phone nothing plays
connect to the speaker, then close/reopen app and try again sometimes it doesn't recognise the new output e.g. speaker when the same app is open

Every time I try that it keeps saying I need the app to do it but then when I go to the app I can't seem to find a way to do it, even when I try to add a new device my phone doesn't come up, and my Bluetooth is on

I don't think the speaker is really up to playing music in a nice quality you would expect, might sound a bit tinny.

Mine keeps telling me it can’t find anything to pair. I’m on Wi-Fi with my echo dot and it keeps telling me to go through the mobile app which I keep doing and it keeps giving me problems.

In order for the methods in this video to work you are required to have a Wi-Fi connection on all your Amazon devices that you plan to connect to your iPhone. If you had android you wouldn’t have to have an Internet connection for any of this to work. One of the many reasons why I regret having switch to iPhone is because of this. I don’t have Wi-Fi at my house so therefore my echo does not connect to Wi-Fi and it won’t show up on the Bluetooth list until I set up Wi-Fi which sucks.
