    Some things I've noticed using the Substance map the past year. Please take these into future considerations for updates on the plugin.
    It gets pretty slow opening scenes with a bunch of Substance maps in it, especially when set to higher resolutions; which takes a toll when rendering an animation on the farm that is not GPU based since they are computed on every single machine for every frame. I currently bake out the maps to get around this once I get the look I want, but then you need to link all of those bitmaps in place of the Substance maps.
    It would be nice if the Substance map linked those baked maps automatically to the material. Or better yet, if they would link to the Substance map, with a toggle to use baked maps. Then if you need to update down the road, flip that toggle back, make your changes, bake them out, and toggle back to the baked maps.
    Also, it would be nice if it was smart enough to not bake out the channels we are not using. Or at least give us the check boxes for the channels we want computed. Sorting through a folder of un-needed maps isn't fun when you have to do it for many materials.

      I've found similar issues and don't use this on our render farm.We use substance player to make the maps first then link up the maps in vray.

    In Maya there is a way to import an material authored in Painter into an Arnold standard surface, is there anyway to do this with this plug-in?

    I'm using Vray and I get some troubles about my normal and glossiness maps, it doesn't recognize those maps and set a red wire connection, what am I doing wrong?

    Hello.
    Unfortunately, in the Substance Designer program, you cannot directly import the vector files related to the Illustrator software. In case of using the svg node, the exact design we want will not be entered into the software and will be entered incompletely.
    Even if we save with lower versions of Illustrator, this problem exists.
    Can you guide me on how to solve this problem?

    I'm curious, how do I create my sbsar file in Substance Painter? The export formats don't seem to include this.

      Substance Painter doesn't support the export of sbsar files. You would need to use Substance Designer or Substance Alchemist to create the sbsar file. If you have access to Substance Source, you can download sbsar files from there.     Yo. I'm using 3DSMax 2016 there used to be a simple free plug in from the original Allegorithmic website - can't find this anywhere on web - all roads lead to Adobe or later versions of 3DSMax 2018 to 2021. Any ideas?

    I know this is a year old, but the website has changed dramatically. I found the 3DS Max plugin, but the download button is greyed out? So is all the other plugins and their download buttons. what gives?

    Hola que tal¡ tengo un gran problema, al momento de instalar el plugin para 3ds max 2019 el programa falla, el 3ds max se cierra cuando intento realizar un render, incluso se cierra cuando solo abro los settings del render. Ya probé desinstalando mis 3ds max, volviendo a instalar mi vray, y nada. El problema se soluciono cuando desinstalé el plugin de substance. Quisiera que puedan ayudarme con el problema muchas gracias.

      With Substance Painter, you can't export SBSAR. Substance Painter exports bitmaps and you use the Export Textures option to choose a template for a given renderer such as Vray or Arnold. This will export a set of textures you can then apply.

    in my experience, using substance plugin with MAX was very frustrating, often software would freeze after applying a tiny change.
    working in 4k in a big project, I don't think I'll be using Substance plugin.

    Why does it happen whenever I use this plugin for vray, it always tend to crash? It's the most annoying thing ever. Sometimes I just change some value in the sunstance2 node and it simply crashes. It's been like that by a long time already

    Not working here with Max 2018, SP v613400, Substance_in_3ds_Max-2.3.4+2018-128-x64-win & VRay 36:
    I do not have a Substance toolbar !
    Under "Customize User Interface " though, I do have the MatSubstance & Substance PBR Vray Mat.
    Any clue ? Thanks for any help!

    In fact, there are some issues with this plugin, such as the inability to automatically connect the roughness map when the material is transferred to Vray, or the inability to automatically connect the height map when it is transferred to PBR, which requires manual connection. I have tried it many times and I think this is a fault. I have reported it to the official, but almost no one is responsible for it. I don't know where to accept my feedback!

    Super! good to see that it's built-in with new 3d max 2021 but I'm trying it in vray standalone render don't work getting error map missing but render in 3ds max any fix for that?

      Thanks for the feedback. Does the Vray Standalone have ability to parse the max scene that is using Substance? We don't have support in Standalone.

      I might be wrong but I think because if the GPL , many developers doesn't want to move to blender, at least that what corona developers did say about this

      We love blender and many of our internal artists are using Blender 2.8. Unfortunately, I can't speak to our integrations plans at this time. But we are Blender fans and users ourselves and we definitely want to more Substance with Blender.

    I can't get it to generate a workflow in 3dsMax 2018. I get an error saying "--Compile error: Can't find include file: --SubstanceWorkflowUtilities.ms-- -- In line: include "SubstanceWorkflowUtilities.ms".

    Sadly, plugin isn't working with redshift3d 3.0.0.6 in 3dsmax 2020 :(

      @@Substance3D I get MAXScript FileIn Exeption window pops up with this message "-- Type error: Call needs function or class, got: undefined", MAXScript window opened and that's it.
      Sbsar is imported from Substance Batch Import (and it does appear in Slate material editor).
      Redshift is kinda old (not the final version, my license support is over and I can't get newer one) and it's an "experimental" build 3.0.0.6, not the 2.6.53.

      You can edit the texture coordinates to adjust the tiling similar to a standard texture in max.

      @@Substance3D Unfortunately it works only in Viewport but in render (Corona Renderer) it gives original size 1x1. Do you know how to fix that?
