Yes! The strange phrasing with the water elementals and water weirds being "indifferent toward intruders and attack only in self-defense" but also being "determined not to stand for further intrusion, the Elementals rise to attack anyone other than cultists" was baffling! My first thought was that it just came down to rushing the book out and not having enough time to proofread carefully, but you might be on the right track with the AI theory.
I also only give my players one chance for skill checks, but I also like degrees of success and failure. Perhaps this one could be implemented better by saying that on a failure of 5 or more, the harp (much like the hazard of a string on a guitar or other similar instrument suddenly snapping) explodes in the trap's whirring blades and the character who is reaching in takes the slashing damage and makes the poison CON save (but this isn't needed if they're using mage hand or telekinesis from a safe distance). In any case, thanks for another excellent, helpful video covering the Eve of Ruin campaign. Please keep them coming!
Enjoy your format and how you work through the "glitches" in the adventure. It's really helpful content. I also appreciate your presentation being family friendly and approachable for younger or less experienced DMs. I'm planning on running parts of this within our 45 yr old homebrew campaign world. Thinking it should work with all the realm hopping, and be a way to get the attention of some powerful NPCs and change up some dynamics within our old campaign. Looking forward to more on Eve of Ruin!
The way I ran the elemental and the weird was when the characters peaked into the room. They saw the water coming down, but also saw water shooting up as if the pool was a fountain but at random points one of them snuck in and watched for a little while and realized it must be a water elemental or something like that, and as long as the party didn’t disturb the element or the weird they just kept playing with the water
Re: C7 I think this is bad editing. I think that is supposed to be that the Water Elementals are bullied by the cultist and they only attack if the CULTISTS enter. This pays off the cloacks/hat in the other room. If the characters pose as cultists this would be a fun thing to throw at them.
Great videos mate, loving your takes on Eve of Ruin.
Thanks! That means a lot!

@@AliceHasterlo-Shoupe that's a cool way to handle it

what really bothers me is you pay so much for these modules just to get shitty black and white maps and not in color
@@vampiregoat69 I totally feel that. Some of my players actually prefer the old school maps. But I'm with you, I want color and details!
