    Consistency is key and I think SGC is very consistent. I have an idea of what my cards are going to grade. With PSA you honestly never know like the guy that turned a PSA 6 to a SGC 10

      I’m all for PSA but I know someone with a similar experience. It was a PSA 8.. he resubmitted (the ethical way) and PSA sent it back with an 8 again.
      Submitted with SGC received a gem mint 10.. RESUBMITTED to PSA, AGAIN and got a gem mint 10.

      Yeah I can agree with that. SGC is very deliberate with following their grading scale. They don't do any pop control and aren't afraid to give a card that 10. Thanks for watching!

  • @Wrosy313

    My biggest gripe with SGC is the “9.5”; I love that they have it, but I don’t think people understand what it means. The description sounds a lot like a BGS “min” 9.5, but it prices very close to a PSA 9 (or less). There isn’t too much distinction from a pricing perspective on 9.5s and 9s, which again speaks to marketing / education.

    • @scottiebcards2354
      @scottiebcards2354  3 роки тому +5

      Agreed. I view the SGC 9.5 as a PSA 9 since it is technically a card SGC themselves did not deem as a "Gem Mint" card along their standards. Prices reflect this, but on occasion some cards can bring some value in an SGC 9.5 over a PSA 9. Thanks for the thoughts Warren. Appreciate it man!

      For me…I try to chase the best possible grade given by the third part grader. If I have to have the card for my PC I’ll go as low as a 9 for current market cards. Pop reports matter. It’s not about educating anyone. It’s hard to compare PSA condition and prices to any other because the investors have decided that PSA is their grail. I personally don’t like how large the sgc slab is but I do own several and am happy to keep them on my radar. These two grading companies use real people to determine the overall grade and their can be a lot of room for error. Lots of wiggle room between a PSA 9 and PSA 10. The variance between a SGC 9, 9.5, & a 10 is much less. For my PC, I would take a SGC 9 over a 9.5 because if I were to regrade with PSA, I’m confident that even with luck on my side, the card would realistically grade a 9 and never a 10. An SGC 10 should cross over to a PSA 10. That’s my theory of why 9.5 SGC doesn’t get more respect.

I didn’t do any of the pre-cleaning, wipe with microfiber cloth, etc. just pulled from packs and put in a case. Out of 42 cards submitted, about 35 were either 10’s or 9.5’s. I’m happy with that. Curious about grading experiences.
    I have tried PSA, Beckett, HGA and SCG. I have not received my Beckett order yet, but found HGA is the toughest. I feel like I thoroughly examine my cards and have submitted equal quality to all four, but have received 10% from SGC and PSA as 10’s. I have submitted double the number of cards to HGA and not received a single 10. Every card has 9 or better for three of the parameters, but every card is coming back with a 6 or 7 surface grading. I cannot see the issue, so no longer submitting cards to HGA and may have several regraded at SGC.

  • @OoAtowno0
    @OoAtowno0 3 роки тому +16

    I think SGC has its place but that order was 100% not worth it. $481 difference if you sell them all. Not counting time spent listing, fees, packing etc. and the biggest thing is someone has to actually BUY IT and that’s where I struggle with SGC slabs.
    The liquidity just isn’t there for a lot of SGC stuff, but unlike PSA or BGS if you auction low-mid level SGC slabs you might not even get the cost of grading back. So you have to sell em at buy it now and that’s time consuming.
    I think they grade pretty accurately, but at $30 a card and with how the market values SGC, unless you can bank on gemming 10s at a high rate it’s not worth it if you’re in it for flipping. Love SGC for the PC and vintage but with modern the value discrepancy is rough.

SGC is the move if youre trying to turn a quicker, but smaller profit. plus, once psa opens, we'll likely still have to wait close to a year for low end submissions like these. cant just hold on to product forever! i think people are starting to realize now that they couldve sold 2020 nba prizm (for example) for more raw a year ago than graded a 9 today. waiting isnt always worth it!

      Unless you have one that's worth a lot, you're spending a ton on fees, shipping, supplies etc,, You could take that money and buy graded cards on ebay, there's a lot of good deals out there now.

    • @scottiebcards2354
      @scottiebcards2354  3 роки тому

      Hey thanks for watching! eBay seller fees are 13% so if I apply that to my sales I lose 353.99 which means I still made an additional $80ish dollars by grading. If I go through myslabs that is me paying 4% (1% myslabs fees and 3% PayPal fees) which means I only lose $108.92 leaving me with about $300 in profit. While not ideal it still led to more money. I also sell a lot through my Instagram page which has no fees attached. Fees are apart of the game unfortunately but there are ways around them through Instagram, Blowout Forums, and Facebook. Thanks for the thoughts!

    I never send in a card I think is less than a 10 to be graded unless it's a classic. Never understood folks sending cards to be graded that have shitty corners etc. Seems and is a waste of money and time in my opinion. Just my opinion of course. I get it's cool to have slabbed cards but the longer I've gotten cards graded the more I despise having any cards lower than a 9.5 because of the extreme difference of values below that number.

  • @JR-fd6fe
    @JR-fd6fe 3 роки тому +3

    You messed up some of the figures on your graded v. raw. Also, depending on where you’re selling (eBay?) you have to include their fees which would make your grading basically a bust.

    • @scottiebcards2354

      Hey JR,
      I am not sure which figures I messed up on. That may have just been in editing I slipped the wrong number in on accident, but all the numbers were from last comps sold through eBay.
      Also, if I were to sell these through eBay fees would be $353.99 which still leaves me positive. Realistically though I would sell these through my social media platform or through myslabs where fees are much lower. Thanks for watching!

    The entire order together turned you a profit, but it was saved by one or 2 cards. Most of those cards you lost money on. I love SGC, but you have to research comps big time. Most 9’s are close to raw value. There are very specific cards that are actually worth sending, or you most likely will lose. I feel SGC is more of “collectors” grader, than an investors grader. Unless it’s high end vintage
