Majority of sikhs think to become a sikh you start from the outside, ie the 5 k’s. Thats like putting on a karate outfit thinking you’re a master of karate. To me, sikhi starts from within. Its starts from changing your mindset. You can’t just take amrit and think you’re going to change your life. The internal must change before the external. The day I become a king within my self is the day i start to wear a dastaar. If I wear it before that, I’ll be doing myself and my ancestors injustice and I’ll end up having a religious ego like the majority of sikhs 🙏💚
Changing your mindset is a very hard thing to accomplish. However, it requires discipline and many people find that by adapting the 5k's. This isn't like the 1800s where if you wanted to become a Khalsa, you would have to join the Budha dal, and you would only be given Amrit after they deemed you cleaned your mind of the filth that is the 5 chor of 5 vices. It's 2021 and Amrit is given out like candy. No one is perfect and it's just two sides of the coin. Some choose to adopt internally, while others externally. Your view on the matter is very naive because what you think works for you might not work for others. You are entitled to your opinion and that's that. And this religious ego you talk about, while there are people who choose to be controlled by the ego, there are also those who don't. It's your prerogative if you choose to not see the light and see negativity in its stead.
