My dad is as we speak in end stage liver failure.... hes on his last days in hospice care at home. I thought losing my mom and twin would have prepared my heart for losing my dad. Nope its heartbreaking each time....
Love and hugs to everyone! Hand over heart, God loves each and everyone of you.

dude I’m really sorry to hear that you recently lost your dad. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose your dad on top of losing other close family members, I found out yesterday that my dad has liver cancer and I don’t really know how long he has left. I just graduated high school and I thought I would be able to share more about my new life with him but this all happened sooner than I expected. One thing I always thought about was how if I just spent more time with him or did this and that then maybe he would’ve stopped. But I think we both know that there isn’t much you can do to help them.
I hope you’re staying strong after all of this, and I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through that…

My brother just passed away from complications due to alcohol abuse 😢 He had multiple organ failure including a fatty liver, internal bleeding etc. A horrible way to die. I don’t know that I will ever recover from losing him. He was only 45 and was THE best person I’ve ever known.
Anyone reading this who is battling addiction. Know that you are LOVED. You mean the world to someone whether you realize it or not. You not being on this planet will cause someone to suffer. You deserve a long life, you deserve a healthy life and body. You. Are. So. Deserving. You can do this. YOU are worth it. You are so loved ❤

I just lost my 42 year old Nephew, 2 days ago, to ESLD. The family didn't realize he had a problem until about 5 months ago. He abruptly turned jaundice, grew a large abdomen, his hair thinned, he was cold, swollen legs and feet. Internal bleeding/anemia. He had multiple blood transfusions. He just couldn't recover. When that liver reached a tipping point, it was all the way down hill after that. He was a wonderful, funny, generous, kind person and I'm heartbroken.

Depends on genetics mostly. You could be completely healthy or really damaged You're not even middle-aged yet still young. Others have died drinking a lot less longer it's wild and makes you appreciate your health and genetics. Just never use the excuse of being healthy to keep damaging your body. "I feel fine and healthy never had any sign or reason to stop drinking yet so why would i" is a trick we play on ourselves, most ppl don't quit until they have damage and a realization to or some sign.
I drank really heavy from my teens to my late 20s and got fat. I'm also a side sleeper too and for about 2 years i started having bad pain on my right side every morning for the first hour of the day. That's the reason i stopped drinking i just assumed my liver or kidney was failing. Fast forward a few more years i'm sober and in shape lifting weights again, i go to my doc for a check up and my liver/kidneys are just fine no perm damage i was just a fat side sleeper on a crappy mattress for too long. My point though is that i didn't use that as an excuse to start drinking again, and it was unfortunate that it took me assuming i had fucked up my body permanently to stop drinking.

Alcoholics don’t drink for the taste. They drink to mask pain, cover memories, or numb something that’s bothering them. They likely never have explained what it truly is that’s causing them to drink, but after a while of consistent drinking, their brain becomes dependent on the alcohol poison to keep them going. Even if the person knows the poison’s killing them, they can’t let it go because their brain is literally fighting them to keep drinking, due to the brain’s chemical dependence on the alcohol.
This is why some alcoholics who try and quit cold turkey end up dying from withdrawal seizures

ALD - is liver damage caused by alcohol abuse, risk of developing disease is correlates with amount and duration of alcohol use. other risk factors include being female, genetics and obesity. ALD involves 3 disorders that develop in sequence. AFL AH and C. AFL is accumulation of fat - reversible - no symptoms. AH - inflammation, fever and fatigue, enlarged liver. C large amount of hepatic tissue permentantly replaced with scar tissue (process fibrosis) - liver shrinks - irreversible.
Pathophysiology - liver is major site of alcohol metabolism. 2 main pathways involved - ADH and cytochrome P450 2E1. ADH conv alcohol to acetyl adlehyde - 2nd enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) metabolites acteyladhyde to Acetate. people with low levels of ALDH are more susceptible to toxic effect of acetyldaldhde (nausa, headache, flushing, fast hr). both of these enzymatic reactions convert NAD+ to NADH. INCREASED nadh/nad+ ratio promoted fatty liver by inhibiting fatty acid oxidation and by stimulating fatty acid synthesis. in addition, acteylaldhyhde promotes prod of enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis and inhibits expression of enzymes implicated in fat oxidation. alcohol has been shown. to reduce export of fat from the liver - all of these events lead to fat accumulation in hepatic cells.
chronic alcohol upregulates cytochrome P450 2E1(CYP-2E1) PATHWAY in mito - this pathway generates harmful ROS which can damage proteins and DNA. effects are exaggerated in patients with nutritional deficiencies. chronic alcohol exposure also activates hepatic macrophages triggering inflammation. in addition acetaldehyde can bind to cellular prtoeins forming aducts that are seen as forgein antigens by immune system - provoking body inflammatory attacks(hepatatis). chronic inflammation and subsequent attempts of tissue repair leads to formation of scar tissue. as a result liver internal structure disrupted impairing its function. complications - scarring of liver tissue also obstructs blood flow causing high blood pressure in the protal vein that brings blood from the intestine to the liver. as liver functions decline toxins that are normally removed by the liver can now reach general circulation - producing symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, trmeor or coma (hepatic encephalopathy). portal hypertension may cause variceal bleeding, enlarged spleen and abdominal distention. diagnosis - symptoms, other symptoms clubbed finger, itchy skin and hairloss. history of drinking, liver function tests.
Treatment - stop drinking / abstinence, supportive care - nutrition and vitamins, corticosteroids may reduce inflammation. liver transplant may be considered for patients with severe liver damage.

Good to see those like myself here. About a week clean! I guess drinkers run in the family. I drank for about 10 years. I started being an alcoholic NOT on purpose. At the time I had a baby girl and me and my woman wasn’t doing good. She pushed me away by being cruel. Then she wanted to work it out but she had sex with another guy right after she told me that. Actually sent me video of it. That’s when I first started drinking a lot more. I didn’t even realize that it was a coping mechanism. So, time passed and I got over it but all of a sudden I had a new habit. 1 that I enjoyed. Little did I know it wasn’t normal to ALWAYS have fun. In the beginning I had drunk nights here or there. 2020- 2023 I hit it REALLY HARD. Drunk almost daily. If I’m ok, it’s probably because I did this weird 3weeks on 3weeks off type of deal. Idk y I did it. As has helped. 15 months ago I did my best. 3 months clean. It took getting in trouble with the law, god, church and meetings to get that result. Still later, I started drinking again… always wanting be normal like other people :-/. I’d drink daily. Sometimes I could make it weeks of being at work on time but as usual, it came a time I was back in the shit house, that is being really late or calling off every other week. I got fired not to long ago. Figured I’d try to stay away from alcohol for good this time. This video helped too, scared the shit out of me lol! Just sharing because I hope this helps somebody somehow. Much love! Take care! Thanks to the content creator too!

    Hereditary fructose intolerance
Hereditary fructose intolerance is a serious type of fructose intolerance. However, it is treatable and manageable.
It occurs when a person is unable to digest neither fructose nor fructose precursors, such as brown sugar.
Those with hereditary fructose intolerance lack sufficient activity of an enzyme called fructose-1-phosphate aldolase, which helps digest fructose.
The fructose then accumulates in the liver and kidneys, causing serious and potentially fatal complications, such as liver and kidney failure.

I did my blood test yesterday after 5 weeks of 100% no carbohydrates no sugar no fruits no starch no red meat diet. My Liver panel test result shown AST , ALT , GGT level all perfect! Far from its top range. Just 5 weeks. My fatty liver is reversed to healthy normal. I lost 4-5kg just from dieting and stop eating after 7pm till next day lunch. 2 meals a day. Only boiled using water, steam Fish , tofu , cabbage broccoli veggies , chicken breast , black coffee no sugar for afternoon lunch and green tea no sugar during evening dinner not later than 7pm. After 7pm I fast till next day lunch 12pm. The fasting time is extremely important as this time allows digestion and some hunger which makes our body burn the fat within without exercising. Exercising barely able to reach the fat around our liver. So fasting is the effective way. I had No milk (contain high fat and high sugar) . No snacks. No all kind of bread which still are carbohydrates. No cake. No biscuits. No rice. No noodles. No fruits especially as it’s fructose are directly process only by our liver! Just 5 weeks and fatty liver is back to normal with proven liver function blood test compared to my previous test result 5 weeks ago. I feel very lively light and positive. I lost 5kg. Also My cholesterol and sugar level were also extremely good blood test result! I m looking way younger and my body is nicer too. I m 33 years old male. Non smoker non alcoholic. Didn’t work in a toxic environment. I didn’t exercise. But I ate much rice , fatty red meat, and milk and cookies and fruits. I slept late before. Now I kicked those bad habit n bad diet. After recovered from fatty liver, I continue my way of eating n fasting n sleeping time. I reintroduced some healthy carbohydrates back into my diet. Such as some corn carrot , some wheat bread, a little potatoes. Please make sure u do not overdo it. I really mean only some. Lack of discipline and taking it for granted will cause regrets. I’m sharing for mankind and for those who were helpless from useless doctors. And I’m sharing in memory of my late father who passed away due to end stage liver disease.

You will be alright. A bigger concern would be daily drinking, perhaps even having liquor or beer for breakfast, soldier on until noon, and have lunch, get home and drink some. Rinse and repeat for 6 months to 1 year + and you'll definitely know.

Probably not, though it's still taxing your liver to some extent. But it's bad for you in other ways also, it has toxic and inflammatory effect on all your tissues and organs. For example, systemic low intensity inflammation contributes to plaque buildup in your arteries, high blood pressure, weigh gain and other negative health effects.

How long does it take to get your liver back running and start to be able to lose weight? Gave up drink 10 days ago but still can’t see any weight loss, I’m eating clean also. And doing a calorie deficit but I’m still fat as shit.

Try intermittent fasting and keto-oriented diet, it'll definitely help if you are able to keep it up. But if not, just not eating bread and added sugar will result in losing weight. Also, moderate exercise like walking up to an hour a day could help. If you can do more that's even better.

First of all, unhealthy routine, oily foods etc. Oily foods can cause fatty liver ( first stage of disease). Eventually, it's not a disease chance to recover if well maintained.

This shit so hard. I've been drinking for about 10 years and fpe like 4 years drinking fireball each day 2 pints a day. Forgot I had diabetea type 2 running in my fam. Went to the er for gallstones. Ended up finding out type 2. The hospital really helped me thru n stay sober . But after 3 weeks in at home I gave. Also my pancreas is inflamed. So now I think I just might have liver disease. Addiction is really fucking hard-core to heal. And I'm not hard-core. Plus with anxiety of feeling like I will die anytime soon.... very not hard-core

You sound fairly young. Your liver can regenerate and heal. But it's crucial you take care of yourself going forward. You can start again, or as many times as you need to. Please don't quit trying just because you stumbled. I'd recommend Alan Carr's quit drinking book. Many celebrities quit drinking with after reading book. It sounds like a gimmick but it has much success. You can do it. Prayers for your health and recovery.
