- My amazing friend Mr. Fish was kind enough to pick out and send a homemade MRE he put together from his local Buc-ee's!

What a great friend, helping you out like that! (Course Mr Fish looked like he had loads of fun too). Loved the short of him picking up the "bonus snack" from the ground. 😂
He’s a good dude like that and he has fun no matter what he’s doing.
This was cool, however, the entree was lacking a bit. Lol. Overall though, not a bad haul.
Buccee's is the best travel stop you can make while cruising through Texas. First the place is enormous, dozens of soda machines, an unparalleled selection of travel snacks, BBQ, fried chicken, etc. Plus the largest, cleanest restrooms you have ever seen. It's a must see.
Funny how a glorified truck stop becomes a tourist destination! Clean bathrooms are always a win though.
@@dadbudgetadventures I'll stop you right there. Buccee's is neither glorified nor a truck stop. The place is MASSIVE, always super busy, has a very well payed staff and excellent food. Also, it is not a truck stop. They do not allow commercial trucks into the parking lot nor to they allow them to fuel up there. That does cause some irritation with the truckers, but Buccee's is there for automobile travelers, primarily families.
I didn’t realize they didn’t allow trucks. That’s interesting. I only referred to it as a truck stop because they seem to be the only thing in their category I’ve come across. So what do you even call it? Car stop? Car city? It’s big enough to be its own town.
Bucees World. 😂
Unless you drive a semi truck. They will NEVER get my business.
Such a fun idea! Thanks Mr. Fish!
Fellow watchers, how about we send stuff from all over!? Could be a new series 🎉
I’d love to see what people overseas would send.
Dooo iiiit!
That’s a great idea!
This is a great idea! 👍🏻 ❤
Great Idea
😂😂😂 that was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see your MRE from Bucee's. Those stores are massive! Guard your wallet, you don't want a repeat of World Market 😂😂
I already know it’s gonna take a hit. The wife reeeeeeally liked the nuggets.
@@dadbudgetadventures 😂😂
@@dadbudgetadventures
They have savory nuggets, too,. IIRC I got some white cheddar jalapeno ones the first time I went - or something like that.
Cheers to Mr. Fish, he's a good man.
Those Scout style pocket knives are among the most handy pocket knives to carry. I carryed a 1968 U.S. Camillus military pocket knife with all the same tools on it for over 23 years. I finally wore it out and then replaced it with a Victorinox Huntsman pocket knife because I wanted the extra tools the Huntsman has, and man do they come in handy!
Nice video DBA, thanks for sharing it.

Thanks. Mr. Fish is one of the best people you’ll ever encounter. I’m so glad he stepped up to help out with this one.
*blushes*
Ahhh canned fish-not a highlight of my life. Always good to see you Dad.
Same, but it will certainly do in a pinch. 😀
Love Buc-ees. I eat there pretty regularly anymore
We are finally getting one just across the county line. Looking forward to having it relatively close.
@@dadbudgetadventuresMy nearest one is at exit 407 going to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It’s about an hour from me but I drive there pretty often and go to Bass Pro Shops and of course I always visit the new Buc-ees. Love their BBQ sandwiches and of course the Brisket sandwiches.
@@trooper2121
Is that in Sevierville? I go to Smoky Mountain Knife Works occasionally. I’ll have to check out the Buc-ee’s since I’ve never been to one before
@@alanbierhoff6831Yes just off of I40 it’s exit 407 which is the same exit for SMKW. Because I go in there quite often myself probably even more now that they carry guns and ammunition
This would be my type of mre. I'd eat everything in that pack, and it'd be enough to fill me up for sure. However, for my son, I'd probably have to get chicken instead of tuna. Hes not a big fish fan. Just occasionally 😅😂🤷🏼♀️ but the rest of it looks great and would be tasty! Many thanks to mr.fish for sending you all these items. I love watching the mre videos. Always something to think about for upcoming camping trips and items to just have in go bags or get home bags. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
Thank you so much!
My wife LOVES those espresso beans. They introduced a new flavor of jerky, honey jalapeno. It's my new favorite
I’m gonna need to try that jerky
I recommend the jalapeño peanut brittle!😊
@@teetwo56 😲
I'm in the Smokies now. I love me some Buc kees bbq and blueberry fudge. Yum
Their food really is quite good
Yes would love to see that comparison
Gonna do my best to make it happen.
You can be glad Mr. Fish isn't a prankster. I got a little concerned when I heard, "I don't know what this is."😂
Right? I have a lot of trust in him !
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks Mr. Fish.
Thanks! I’ll pass on your message to Mr. Fish.
This had me at "Beaver Nuggets". Stuff like that cracks me up. Hadn't heard of Buc-Ee's until now. Just a mere 9 hrs drive to the closest one!
Not quite what I would pick out, but it was fun to see what someone else comes up with. Swap that canned tuna for a packet would certainly make it easier to get into. Unless I had beaver teeth🤔🤪
😂. So glad you liked it. I’m gonna be hitting a Buc-ee’s in Texas this weekend so let’s see if I can one-up Mr. Fish.
@@dadbudgetadventures The bar has been raised with Beaver Nuggets. But alas, I'm confident that you will be successful ;)
I’m not gonna get mine from the dog park though 😬
Mr Fish did good. Shame they didn't have those tuna bowls with the pasta or rice and veggies mixed in with the tuna. Those are really good.
I’m gonna be at a Buc-ee’s this weekend. Hope I can find more goodies to do a follow-up.
Thank you mr Fish. Good general basic products that we can find in all countries. Not everybody has a lot of variety in their supermarketd. I envy all those chocolate products.
Thanks for pointing that out. There are so many things people can get in one country but not in another. More than anything it’s about creative thinking.
@@dadbudgetadventures Indeed, we have products in small cans that appeal to the Filipino taste. Most westerners will turn up their nose and run away. It is sad, but the canned items do no justice to the same dish made fresh in a restaurant. Western food products are slowly becoming more available in the Philippines as the economy grows and folks have more income to splurge on imported items. Beef jerky is one product we have never seen in stores. I used to make my own on our hobby farm in the US since we had a dairy cow and raised beef cattle. I made several batches of beef jerky here and dried it under our hot, tropical sun. Each time we sent a small plastic tub to school with one of the troops, students and teachers all asked "what is that?" After samples were handed out, there was not much left for our young prodigy. The home brew jerky was well received. Sadly, with basic income so low in the Phils, a product perceived as expensive would be a hard sell here. True enough that some are doing well and could afford afford high end products but those folks are the exception, not the general rule.
Never been to a Buc-ees. Regional stores are their own thing sometimes. But made me think of another possible location for you to try... If you ever find yourself traveling through a region with a larger Amish community like Ohio, Pennsylvania... Might be able to piece together an Amish MRE. Obviously not their fresher produce strait off the farm but I've seen uncommon packaged foods in Amish stores before. Just a thought. ✌️
That’s two for an Amish store just on this video! Might need to make that happen.
Total fun! This is a great video that stayed with the theme. We did well over the last week, finding a few new items for the 72 hour school emergency kits we are building out. It never hurts to ask for items on the list. While in a pharmacy we rarely visit on the far side of town, we learned they have electrolyte powder in small sachets. Three flavors to choose from and inexpensive compared to any premix available. Next up, our school age troops testing these finds. Thank you for continuing inspiration.
Thanks for helping keep me motivated. I hope you’re shooting video of this project of yours!
We’re getting a Buc-ee’s in North Carolina. It’s going to be at Exit 152 off Interstates 40/85 in Mebane, about 50 miles west of downtown Raleigh. Only 40 minutes away from me on farm country roads. It’s supposed to be huge at 74,000 square feet which is 20,000 square feet bigger than the Florence, SC Buc-ee’s but only half the size of the ginormous Walmart just down the road in Mebane, NC!
It’s supposed to open in 2025 but nobody’s holding their breath for that lol
We are getting one just across the county line on HWY 40 in west Tennessee. Not sure the date but it’s coming!
That was a quick response for Bucee’s😂
Buc-ee’s needs you to be quick so someone else can have that parking space 😂
I love the electrolit beverages they're common around Virginia and does the trick on a hot day. Great extra video
Thanks!
Mix your chow-chow with the tuna.
There’s a solid plan!
👏👏👏 We love Bucees in Texas. Best , and most Expensive, Restoom Stop in the World. ❤❤❤
Gonna be visiting one in Texas tomorrow. Looking forward to restocking the nuggets.
Great job,Mr. Fish.
He did pretty good.
I have been to Buckees a couple of times while on a road trip, but they just announced we will soon have a Buckees near us! Very excited about that!
They are expanding big time the next couple years. Can’t wait until ours opens here but I haven’t heard a date on that yet.
Buc-ees nuggets yummy just make sure they're vacuum sealed. Lol great video
They are so good! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Electrolit is awesome. The coconut flavor is the best.
I’m betting it is really good when you’re dehydrated. Not the best for washing down Beaver Nuggets though.
GREAT JOB ME FISH. GOOD FRIENDS ARE THE BEST. THANKS FOR SHARING D.B.A.....Z.....
He’s a good dude. Glad he’s my friend.
Love it. By the way I am taking your homemade MRE Ideas and making MRE packets for our blessings boxes, these are for our homeless population. They don't sit long in the box that's for sure.
That makes me happy to hear. I’m working on a similar project myself!
I love it! You understood the assignment. Did you brush your teeth after you ate Bucees beaver droppings? Can’t take him anywhere. I can’t wait to see what you can find at Bucees. Thanks for the shout out!
You’re the best, bud. Hoping to get to come see you soon.
We have one in Richmond, Kentucky. I visited it, and it was pretty cool. The problem is, the jerky I bought was 8.99 for that same size.
Yeah that was the bulk of the cost of this one. And they don’t sell anything smaller.
Good job, Mr. Fish
He did pretty good
Thanks 👏🏻👍
You’re quite welcome!
I’ve drove by Buckies 10 times and never stopped 😮 looked to busy for me to want to mess with
It a busy place and can be overwhelming.
also a really good way to up your tuna game, is a single take away pack of mayo, pack of pickle relish and takeaway packet of black pepper
Absolutely. That would be perfect.
Not sure if you've made a custom MRE video with Cracker Barrel components but they have everything needed for a custom MRE. I'd love to see a Cracker Barrel MRE video!
I have not. Might take a look.
I love Buc-ee's and make it a point to stop off there to stretch my legs and get some snacks.
Good place to do both
Definitely make comparison MRE from Bucee’s.
I’m gonna do my best
@@dadbudgetadventures If I ever get back to a department store I'll make one from the things I find there.
Nice change, thank you Mr.Fish. Future content thought, themed MRE’s, Chili Head, Cheese Head, etc.
Cool idea!
I don't live anywhere near a Buc-ee's (Closest is 12 hours away) but when I'm on vacation I always stop and spend wayyyy too much money. Mr. Fish did a great job!
That’s a long drive for nuggets!
@@dadbudgetadventures but they are so good haha
I have recently rediscovered how much i love sriracha and/or sambal sauces. Mix one of these with that tuna and youll be in business. Im currently looking for individual packets of either for travel. They are very low calories and almost no carbs. Being diabetic, this is a great alternative for sauce options.
That’s a great idea!
A non-Sunday post, what a treat! Actual content of MRE: #Fail
Figured I’d throw out a surprise extra.
I would love to see a bag duel.
Let them fight it out
Maybe what the chow-chow was for
Maybe so
I have not seen you go to a Meijer yet. Unless I missed it. Would love to see you take a couple of MREs camping.
I don’t have one nearby but I’ll keep an eye out. These ideas are perfect for camping!
Bucees is a cross of Walmart meets cracker barrel meets quick trip, the only things they are missing is picnic tables and a bar for people watching
Definitely. Although I get the impression their concept is “get your stuff and get out”
Next year they plan on building a Buc-Ees about ten minutes north of me first one in the state. I just texted my friend we plan on taking a wiz there to break it in
Same here. Getting one just across the county line. Is that how you properly christen a new Buc-ee’s?
@@dadbudgetadventures never been to one before but my friend has a small bladder and likes coffee, except he has to drink decaf which is even nastier than regular coffee to me. I think I have had maybe three cups of coffee in my life and I'm 51 1/2 now. I just drink diet pop once a week
Love the MRE... but no P38!?!? Funny, I have been cycling my Tuna packs recently, so I have been having tuna and crackers for dinner a few times the past week or so, mayo and mustard is the best. Great video and good job Mr. Fish! 🍻
Thanks! I’ll pass on your kind words.
Beaver Nuggets are crack. Love the Caramel ones. Would love to see your MRE from Buc-ees.
Gonna do my best this weekend. We shall see.
Mr fish is a great guy have one of his photos I really enjoy your videos what about a bass pro shops m r e safe travels enjoy your trip the Irish pirate from Maine
He really is. I tried Bass Pro recently but only found jerky and coffee. Might have to try one of the bigger stores.
In East TN we have Food Lion, Food City, and Ingles, which might be options if you have them anywhere on your side of the state.
We don’t but I get out that way on occasion, so I’ll give it a try when I can.
@@dadbudgetadventures If you're still reeling from World Market's prices, Food Lion or Ingles might be a better way to go. Haha! Food City has good cupcakes, though.
Yeah, that one still stings
Bucee's IS an MRE! 😊. I wonder if the tuna would be good mixed with a little of that chow chow
You’re not the first to suggest that. I feel like I’ve missed out.
🙏🏼
😎
I was really bummed about this one….Sorry Mr. Fish, but this seemed more like a gag gift rather than an attempt at an MRE 🤦🏻♂️
However, DBA never disappoints with his stage presence and delivery 👍🏼
I’m just glad he didn’t choose the smoked oysters 😬
@@dadbudgetadventures 💯% AGREED 🤢🤣
I 100% agree. DBA did a phenomenal presentation. There’s such a limited selection, as I found out.
Truckstop MREs could be interesting.
Working on doing just that
Looks like Mr. Fish did a good job. Also beat your World Market budget (=
Says a lot about the pricing at Buc-ee’s 😂
Cool video
Thanks!
That was a fun Video, after watching this ,have you considered trying to make an MRE from Bass Pro Shop?
I went to my local store recently but all I found was jerky and coffee. Might have to hit one of the bigger stores.
But-ee’s 😎
😂
How about trying to make a breakfast MRE?
I’ve been working on that but without much success. But check out the video dropping this Sunday for some ideas.
chow chow and tuna
Gonna need to try that. Had no idea.
@@dadbudgetadventures Its kinda like tuna mustard and pickles, depending of course on the chow chow.
I cook my own food, dehydrate them and take with for cooking, no biggie. My Snacks are usually fruit and nut mix - basic or tropical, for drinks I have some ratio pack fillers from UK army Ration packs and I carry a pouch of real coffee - that's 2 brews and T Bags - Yorkshire Tea of course! I have been trying out my own cereal bars recently with mixed success, I don't like apple unless with blackberry; I don't like crackers or biscuits, your or ours when camping. I eat a lot of curries, chilli and stews fro winter camps.
Sounds pretty nice!
Without even watching I can promise you this will be the most expensive homemade MRE you’ve done. Love some Bucees though!
Well, not Bucees items, so not too expensive.
It was the second most expensive.
@@dadbudgetadventures the jerky alone will do that 😂 Can’t wait to see your version after you come to Texas!
Yeah, he sent the receipt. The rest was surprisingly not too bad but that jerky…daaaaang!
How about chowchow with the tuna? Another MRE with mr Fish would me fun
I keep hearing I missed an opportunity with that. I’m sure Mr. Fish will be helping out again soon.
Chocolate covered espresso beans and dark chocolate isn’t that death by chocolate
Could be. But what a way to go!
Besides Bucees in Texas you have HEB grocery. Maybe do a Texas themed MRE. Everything is bigger and better in the Lone Star State.
If you to the East Coast can try to make an MRE from Sheetz or Wawa
I’ll be in Texas this weekend and plan on hitting both!
Bucees 🎉
Finally!
Curtis Fish
No, first name Mister 😎
@@dadbudgetadventures lol i hope his name isn't Curtis. I have a friend named that 🔥🔥💀
Odd thought. What about an MRE where size was the challenge. What's the smallest MRE you can make that not only fulfills the normal requirements but also tastes good and actually fills yea up. Or for the Mrs side fits in a clutch? an almost EDA MRE.
That’s a pretty cool idea. Super compact MRE.
Can you link his UA-cam channel please? Couldn’t find it on my own. Thanks 🙏
Done. Added in the description box.
dad budget i have a request i know this does not fit into your traditional mre ideas but as someone who does airsoft (military simulation events) i would love to see you do a dollar tree 24 hr mre for an event following your rules but with the caveat "light breakfast" main meal and a light evening meal and several snacks please
So kind of an active day menu with lighter portions and more small energy boost snacks?
@@dadbudgetadventures exactly
@@dadbudgetadventures pretty much i am just curious to see your take on something like this
That would be a fun build. Gonna have to give it a go.

As a retired truck driver I would never shop any place that wouldn't allow me and my truck. People say they support truckers but then back business that refuse to back truckers.
I can respect that. I’m sure they have their reasons but it’s never a good business move to bar a specific group.
Would have been funny if wife came around looking for Beaver nuggets and you tried to hide them, also with mouthfuls said "no dear:
😂😂😂
Could have mixed the chow chow with the tuna
That’s what I’ve been hearing. Need to try that.
Recommendation: Grocery Outlet Bargain Market
Do you have any around you?
Others may have already recommended; I just haven’t seen it in the comments.
I do not but I’ll be watching for them as I travel.
This isn't going to replace the up coming Sunday's video is it??? That's going to mess up my day, getting up and not having an MRE video to watch while I make coffee
I have heard a rumor of us getting a Bucees in Virginia on I81 some day
It is not. There will be a video Sunday for sure.
The Chow Chow was for the tuna.
I’ll need to try that
I guess you couldn't hear us hollering Chow Chow and Tuna, from the "Other Side". 😂
What about mre's from a gas station? A pharmacy or drug store? An Amish store?
An Amish store would be very cool but hard due to his expiration rule.
Just did a Walgreens video and might hit a couple other pharmacies to see what I can do. I tried two gas stations last week and failed miserably but I’m gonna keep trying. Amish store would be fun. Might give that a go.
Does Mr Fish need a friend in New England who'd ship him maple 🍁 syrup & incredible beers in exchange for Buc-ee's treats?
I bet he would work that out!
Are you that into GMO non food?
Might wanna give the nuggets ingredients a read
Or I’ll just eat them. Something is going to get us one way or another

I’ll take it!
Can we talk electrolites folr a sec? Gatorade 126 ish mgs of potasium in about a 20 ounce bottle. 1 cheap walmart quart orange juice in a tetra pack has about 2000mgs of potassuim. All MREs seem to be salt heavy. Slip a real orange juice box in a MRE to get 3 times the potassium plus the vitamin C. Gatorade also has no magniesuim. You can get the tablets to keep your blood salts up to snuff. You want to watch the dose on magnesium. Nothing high. Some say it helps in times of mental stress... but too much can cause a bathroom issue. Nobody wants extra hitting the fan. LOL It is really beyond me why people spend so much on electrolites.
That’s great information! Thank you.
You're showing us crap! Where are nuts, fruit such as raisins, olives, cheese, coffee, honey, maple syrup, dehydrated milk, dehydrated eggs. You need to show the public wholesome food, not crappy snacks. Possibly popcorn kernels. I have an air popcorn 🍿 machine. Microwave popcorn has toxins in the lining from the bag, and the toxins go right into your food. Cindy This is about survival not eating crap.
Clearly this isn’t for you. Sorry it wasn’t what you’d hoped for.
