The British Warrior infantry fighting vehicle is probably the strangest IFV in War Thunder. It does not have a stabilizer and uses an autocannon with a very low fire rate. It has second gen thermals and great mobility, but a very slow ATGM. It should not be good, but it is, and I find that very perplexing. It is very frustrating to use now that Gaijin made sabot rounds bugged, but it's still pretty good.

"WoRsT iFv", yet shows 10 frags and two nukes in the thumbnail, classic Spookston
Just pure skill and good editing.
It's not the car, it's the driver
Maybe he did suffer.
Just not on camera ≧ ͡─ _⦣ ͡─≦
Maybe some people will disagree but I think the vast majority of vehicles in war thunder are competitive and the line between a good and a bad vehicle is very small and easily made up for with skill.
@@Butter_Warrior99
Nope, just good editing, and the game matching him up against noobs with poor situational awareness
you should play the ratel 20. its slow, fat, doesnt turn, has super slow gun guidance, the gun itself is sub par, and its huge. overall very fun vehicle
the ratel 90 is arguably worse. no atgm, no 20mm, still huge, garbage heat round
I think that pile of crap, or the 90, might finally make Spookston snap completely
@@cl3matis Ratel 90 is what carried me from 6.0 to 7.3. Scouting but with mega heat at 6.0? It has a massive ability to kill the heavy tank spam at it's tier.

I've read through most of the internal MoD minutes and correspondences during Warrior's adoption, including the in depth comparison they carried out between Warrior (MCV-80) and Bradley (US IFV). I thought some of you may be interested in the reasons behind its somewhat strange choice of armament.
The original specification for the vehicle actually specifies RARDEN as an armament, aswell as lack of a stabiliser and possibly lack of thermals but I'm not sure. The reason was as you may guess cost saving, but the later analysis carried out showed the army saw a lot of positives in the weapon. With ammunition available at the time, the RARDEN had much more penetration especially at long range than the Bushmaster (or Hughes gun as it was back then). Both guns had enough penetration to deal with BMP-1 even at some range, but with BMP-1's replacement still unknown it was feared an uparmoured replacement would cause problems for the bushmaster. They also analysed using mathematics both weapons projected ability to shoot down hinds, and concluded (somewhat dubiously in my opinion) that both weapons where equally useless in the role. Other effects like post penetration (and therefore the need for multiple quick shots on target for an autocannon) where not considered, and in fairness may not be so important irl.
The TOW and thermal systems of the Bradley where liked by the British, but there where worries of standardisation, and the TOW's potential upgrade path. Britain was involved in european next generation missiles at the time, and where also developing thermals for Challenger. Introducing a new, potentially nearly obsolete missile and having to deal with 2 different thermal imaging systems was seen as a logistics drain.
As you touched on NBC was a very serious consideration at the time, but the army also liked the warriors slightly better mobility which supposedly exceeded the Bradleys.
Ultimately, the army would conclude that while they would prefer to have Bradley the Warrior was also an acceptable close second, and with the decision really being up to politicians it was obvious which vehicle would be better for the British economy, especially considering a licence built Bradley was projected to cost a similar amount.
There where actually several propositions immediately following this decision to upgrade the warrior to match the Bradley, namely the installation of the bushmaster and/or a stabiliser system, but with the project already considerably behind schedule and world tensions rising it was seen more important to get the vehicles into service as quickly as possible.
Every brit vet I've known who served on the Warrior absolutely loved them. I can only say the same for like half of the bradley crew veterans I've met. It's certainly not a bad IFV, I think it just gets a lot of criticism for being different and having a separate design philosophy.
Excellent! May I ask what a Hind is?
@@alpacaofthemountain8760 Russian helicopter
@@thelordofcringe Certainly, I think its flaws are just amplified in a game like warthunder that isn't very comparable to real combat.

not just what you said, but the RARDEN cannon has to be hand-cranked for a few seconds to load ammo if you shoot it empty and your maximum ready load is 6 (3+3) because its fed in 3 round clips, which is to say it's far worse in real life than it is in-game
Though theoretically the ready load is never depleted because the crew can put in new clips faster than the gun can fire!
@@Dorsidwarf Correct. Infinite Ammo at the cost of the commanders situational awareness during an engagement.
I remember the CV90 is also fed from a 3 round ready rack, and that thing does not get fed by clips and each 40mm shell is individually loaded.

Spookston: "The warrior is a difficult IFV to use correctly" *Proceeds to get 2 nukes*
Having worked with the warrior for the past 6 years I can hands down say it’s not a bad IFV, it’s fast…has good armour…the 30mm good infantry support weapon, down side the reliability of them now there getting wayy to old to keep going but that’s why the boxter coming in to replace them.
Warrior reminds me of good times. Times where the comms go down and you end up stagging on oil pans for a whole day. No need for 30mm then.
Ex warrior gunner here, the weapons are shit and break constantly, they break down constantly, its armour can't survive sustained 50 cal, the comms broke daily. A warrior that isn't red on James is because someone wanted to go home early on a Friday.
At least on paper it seems like the boxer is going to be a worse vehicle than the warrior csp
Spookston: ,,Worst ever tank"
*Proceeds to destroy 15 tanks*
I know that you dislike heavy tanks but why not trying the new Churchill with the Sherman 75 cannon?
He would call it rubbish but then also get 23 kills every match
"To slow bad armour layout"🤓
it isn't the sherman cannon, that's the M3 cannon, in the churchill NA75 it's the QF mk V cannon, which is the same as the churchill VII but it's slightly different with a different muzzle
@@smegheader7615 same stats as sherman i believe despite different name
@@smegheader7615 It should be the 75mm M3, because IRL they literally took the Shermans mantlet and gun and flipped it upside down (because the Churchill's gunner position was on the oposite side to that of the Sherman's). That is, of course, if Gondola didn't mess up.
Update: Gondola messed up. For some reason, despite modelling the Churchill NA75 correctly, they've named the gun wrong. Whilst the OQF Mk.V 75mm cannon does use US shells it IS a different gun, namely being a rebored 6-pounder which includes a muzzle break. Otherwise everything about it is correct, including the muzzle velocity (which for the shells used and what sources I CBA to look up only have ~2m/s difference in muzzle velocity to the M3 anyway).
TL;DR: gondola named the gun incorrectly on the Churchill NA75 and the differences in the guns is more or less visual only (shells are the same, velocities are almost identical etc). It *might* get changed within the next 5 years... maybe.
It is quite confusing indeed, but still quite fun. Also in real life it had a great track record serving all over the world and being quite reliable. You must have faith in the 30mm spookston, use it over the missiles whenever you can.
hey spookston i’ve been a fan of your channel for awhile now and i just wanted to tell you that i’ve been going through a really hard part of life and your videos always put a smile on my face and get me laughing it really helps me lol so thanks for all the laughs you’ve given me through the time i’ve been watching you
I'd love to see you do a video on the T29, I remember way back in the day it was an absolute menace with how the underplate was basically immune to cooking off the ammo. Would love to see how things have changed :)

UK tree could do with the desert warrior. If they had that and Gaijin put composite in the mantlet of CR2 (photos of this have already been uploaded to the forums) UK would have a pretty nice top tier lineup.
could you post a link to the forum showing the composite armour in the mantlet. im actually intrested but couldnt find it
Those photos were classified Military documents... so they cannot be used
@@h.a8681 You can go to Bovington tank museum and see the hole where the coax is. The mantlet is filled with something, not empty like Gaijin's implementation. This has been reported and ignored.

There are photos and measurements of the coax to prove this. These have been posted to the forums and ignored.
I used to really enjoy using the Warrior, it's actually one of my best vehicles for kills out of all the Brit tree, watching this though it looks like they've massively nerfed the MILANs.
It can be a little menace if used right. I used this alongside my 8.3-.7 team and it held its own in all but the big uptiers. The 8 Milans are still decent but struggle at 9.0+, brnn grinding my Harder 1A3 lately.
yeah, milan seems nerfed hard lately, sometimes i need 3 missiles to kill an T54
The warrior CTA40 would be a great vehicle to add to WarThunder. It’s APFSDS round performs similarly to the rounds found on the CV9040 and it has proxy fuze rounds for AA, SAP rounds for lightly armored vehicles. It’s stabilized and likely has 3rd Gen Thermals. It’s still based on the Warrior Chassis however and it doesn’t have missiles to my knowledge, so it will be a less armored PUMA. Still an interesting vehicle I would like to see.
I love the CTAS40 in Squad!
YES the warrior. The best IFV ever made now you understand. Now have you heard of the swing fire?
On AML being sad, I recommend playing the Eland if you do play that tank, it carries more ammunition allowing you to dominate for longer before needing to rearm. Also works lovely with the Ratel family on its BR range.
that and its engine is nowhere near as loud as and also more powerful than the amls. on top of all of that the eland just looks cooler

Just want to leave a comment here to thank you for your Content. You raised yourself to one of my favorite UA-camrs keep going🙏🏻
As usual in war thunder, benefits of real life do not translate. Slower fire rates allow the chassis to recover for more accurate shots. A really good example is how the gun accuracy of something like a BMP with high rpm compares to a bradley in accuracy tests.
I'm guessing from that statement that if the Terminator was brought in, its shots be hitting more accurately than they actually do IRL, and not just because the autocannon barrels are to close to each other.
For anti-infantry purposes less accurate gun is better tho
@@mmmn8979
That's what the coaxial and top guns are for though?
but both the bradley and the bmp's have a stabilizer, that makes this a moot point. On top of that they also have better guns, better missile systems and the bmp is way cheaper... Generally speaking british tank development has always been abysmal considering their vehicles are always inferior to their contemporaries or have some serious flaws that british people justify by saying it wasnt part of their doctrine.
@@SteveIsHavingMC a stabilizer doesn’t negate the fact you are rapidly firing a large caliber rifle over and over. Doesn’t matter how heavy it is, it’s on suspension and will upset the entire vehicle.
the "asked to leave X" videos you do are always the best
Idk man this thing is insanely good and just because of the speed its my favourite of them all. Cannon firerate is underwhelming but I find myself frequently one tapping bmps or any light tank in the game and the milan 2 is a solid missile. Lack of stabilizer doesn't bother me, most of my kills are when im sitting still anyway

One tank that would be fun to see is the CV90120, its fast, has a very punchy cannon, absolutely amazing optics and a really nice autoloader. It's not goofy or anything, tho this recommendation is more like a more fun recommendation.
Just overall a very nice light tank, probably the best at top tier.
Is this because of the music video?
Just as a side note for something not in the video, the add-on armour for the warrior makes it shockingly survivable, things like AAs can no longer be a serious threat from the side and you can get some cheeky shots baited from MBTs that they think will kill you but don’t, leaving them open to a missile
Liking the longer videos, keep up the good work!
The fact that you have to deploy the atgm launcher on the M3 Bradley makes it absolute shit compared to the warrior. It is especially apparent in urban combat where you have slow down to a crawl if you want to peek and shoot without the goddamn thing folding back. Would take the warrior every day over the M3 Bradley.
Yk.. I think you would have an amazing time playing the “mighty Kliment Voroshilov two” . It’s abysmal reload, high profile, slowness, and don’t forget the gun that sends any mortal back to the hanger would fit your play style perfectly (:
Dont forget the RPM on the Warrior is a lot faster IRL as lots of ex crewmen have stated plus remember gaijin really REALLY hate the British in WT hence why anything remotely British is nerfed into the ground.
Really should be the commonwealth tree at this rate
@@holdencross5904 That would be very cool, only issue is what exactly would that entail? As in:
WW2 era:
-Basically the same as what is in the British tech tree, e.g. Spitfires, Beaufighters, Lancasters, Mosquitos etc… in the RAAF and RCAF(and RNZAF etc…, mostly focusing on Canada and Australia). I guess the RAAF had some cool prototypes, they could add the CAC Mustang(but technically they could also add a Mustang to the British tech tree now, as they were used fairly heavily by the RAF) . Point being maybe some small additions to a British and commonwealth tree for WW2 could be done, but not a lot as the same aircraft were mostly used by all 3 countries.
Early Cold War era:
-Would be somewhat interesting but also not be. Basically alongside the UK stuff there would be some cool licence produced variants of vehicles e.g. CF-100, CAC Sabre, could also see some A4 Skyhawks etc etc. which would be very cool in the British tech tree so they could definitely do this one pretty well. Only issue is they are all variants of other aircraft that already exist, but tbf I would love a British tech tree sabre.
Mid Cold War era:
-Could see Australian Phantom, Mirage III, Canadian CF104 etc… Would be cool but largely fully copy and paste.
Late Cold War-Modern:
- This would be an interesting one. Because it would essentially just add Australian or Canadian service versions of American(or other countries) planes. Not much difference, some sometimes, but again not a lot. E.g. the F-111 in RAAF service, the F-18 in Canadian and Australian service. The F-35 in Australian and Canadian(when this happens) service, at least tbf, Australia(and maybe Canada) partially manufacture parts for the F-35, and were part of the project(I know Canada was as well and I believe they make parts for it as well, but the current Government backtracked on it for some reason). So it would be very very cool to see for the British tech tree to turn it into a fully collaborative UK, Australia and Canada(and maybe NZ but Ofc they don’t operate combat aircraft anymore), but the issue would be it would probably make the tree too good for Gajin if between these countries they got literally everything(not quite but still).
So while I think it would be very cool Gajin is incredibly unlikely to do it as it would add too many aircraft that they would be more concerned to make people grind other tech trees(spend more money) rather than all have in one tech tree.

Day 3 Suggestion: try out the leopard 1, Its in a spot at 7.3 where it does very well, and in downtiers, faces WWII tanks that don't stand much of a chance, But also works decently well in upteirs against most vehicles due to the APDS or the HEATFS round it gets (I personally prefer APDS)
Ik its been beaten to death but the sheer fact that someone in a tiger 2 can face atgms with thermals is just absurd
It would do alright, if the uptiers were not constant. In this thing, a full downtier just ensures you'll get the best mobility and HEATFS, that's it, since everything you see can one-shot you without too much trouble. Playing carefully makes this thing very good.
But if you get a full uptier ? You'll face the M60, T95, T-62s in large amounts, Vickers, Chieftains, BMP-2... Most tanks here are stabilized, have good armor that will somehow shatter your APDS round and just negate your HEATFS round. You're still faster, but you can't use it or you'll just die.
I know this is going to sound weird, but I much prefer the M48A2 C, even in full uptiers. Great survivability, alright speed, good firepower, actual armor... Ironically enough, the Leopard 1 is just briging Germany players back to the Panzer IV. You have the potential to do amazing stuff but most of the time you won't.
Day 1 of telling you to shut up
@@theblackstoneknight tbh, I have opposite opinion with you, i prefer leo 1 more than that Pepe the frog tank (m48 series), i even switch my m48 with tiger 2 in my 7.3 lineup
leo has good sight (even rivalling top tier mbt) and good mobility make it a great sniping tank, and the reason i hate m48, although the armor is good, the commander hatch is a giant weakspot, which is kinda infuriating when you hide behind something
2:18 the hydrogem bomb vs coughing baby will never fail to make me laugh
I thinks its pretty good with Pen and thermals and the nice side armour
Hey spookston that was me at 7:45, I find it funny cause that was my first heli kill in 6 months since i don't really use them.
I've never read anywhere about the nuclear battlefield claim. The Tank Museum made no mention of it in their video on the vehicle and neither do most online sources and it makes no sense for a 1980s vehicle to be designed that way. It appears to be a myth that has randomly turned up.
The Warrior was never intended to fire-on-the-move, and in its 3 decades of service (especially the Gulf) it was never particularly seen as a disadvantage.
Obviously none of this translates to funny tank game.
Might I recommend the M50 Ontos, I think it is by far the weirdest vehicle in all of the American tech tree, and fits the Spookston style of being tiny and speedy. I find that on a city map, I can easily rack up 8+ kills against befuddled IS's and Tiger 2s, as they stare at this spindly fingered creature that just rocked em with a volley of recoiless rifle fire.

Man... you really like C&C games, especially C&C Generals... that music always brings back memories. :)
If you don't like the AML-90, them maybe the Ratel 90 would be better. It's got the same turret as the AML-90, but on a chassis that is vey empty, so most rounds will pass right through & it's quite fast.

Overall you did good in it. In reality this is just a game the Warrior IFVs combat record in real life is very good and has and still is serving UK forces. Its role is to carry infantry and support them not duke it out with MBTs. The 30mm Rarden cannon is getting a bit old in the tooth but still capable for its role. It was getting an upgraded 40mm cannon but was cut due to budget costs. Overall good vid but this is a game afterall and not real life.

The thing really comes into its element when you stick it hull down and use the commanders optics to fling atgms. nearly unhittable like that, and the thermals+the drone at 8.0 let you see anything and everything before they see you.

1:56 Yeah, that's my favorite feature in War Thunder. Your gunner getting hit and negatively impacting the speed of your electric or hydraulic turret traverse mechanism is just the best :)
I honestly think war thunder should add more of the warrior variants
The problem with the warrior in war thunder is that we get only the first version. The Warrior has had quite a few upgrades since the initial version, such as a stabiliser, better rounds, Javelin or even Spike LR instead of Milan, composite armour addons, engine upgrades etc.
Not true, only the prototype models in Bovington actually have any upgrades. All the vehicles in service are stock, no stabilisers, no Milan or javelin integration (with the exception of the Javelin rack in the rear of the vehicle to hold LTA's for infantry.
We should have bought cv90s 🗿
I honestly really miss playing the jumbo and .50 calling tiger barrels sure it's unbalanced, but it was really fun for me starting out and finding out you can do that
From this update I haven't been able to take out barrels with any auto loader cannon and tracks take like 5 40mms. Oh and the sounds are glitches too hell atm so I'm not surprised that m48 didn't hear your ATGM and reverse, because he couldn't.
Oh boy I can’t wait to see half the games I play being full of this vehicle now that spookstons made a video on it
You know, the warriors autocannon being fully analog makes me think "If you had a time machine that would be the best fucking weapon to replace the M6's coaxial 37mm with."
Hi Spookston, may i ask what are your graphics settings? Great video as always anyways.
Hey Spookston, would love to see you try the rooikat mk.1d. I know you hate British vehicles, but I'd like to see how you handle it. 3rd times a charm
Yeah Britain needs some new light tanks for sure. Could do with more South African gear. ATGM Rooikat, Badger IFV, SAM Rooikat, and a few others. There’s also Australian vehicles that can be implemented to the Brit’s.
You should do an updated “Russian bias” video. As for your bit on hearing ATGMs I use a sound mod that converts the missile/rocket audio to the Payday 2 Cloaker scream and it’s certainly helped.
I'd love to see a video of you playing the T30 or LAV-AD. The T30 is 155MM HE goodness, and The LAV-AD got a sound update for its gun.
You should play the AMX 13 40 and the first AMX 13 with the short 75. The 40mm has 91 mm of pen and shoots at 240 rpm, making it actually usable as an Spaa. It's HE rounds one taps planes quite often. The Short 75 AMX 13 is essentially a faster Chaffee without the gyro stab and better armor. It's better armor is the fact many players will shoot ufp, which gets absorbed into the radiator, engine, transmission, and fuel tank. The amount if times I survived because of this is hilarious as it gives me a free kill.
The thing about the RARDEN is that, in exchange for the 3 round clip feed and incredibly low ROF, it takes up very little internal volume compared to pretty much any other autocannon. Now, is that an acceptable compromise over installing a bigger turret with a Bushmaster or something? For something the size of the CVR(T)s, yeah probably. For the Warrior, much less so, but it was already in inventory by the time it came about.
Also the EMP resistance argument doesn't really hold up, since Warrior's coax is a L94A1 chain gun. Chain guns, notably, require external power to cycle.
You should try the Type 62 light tank - I think it would be right up your alley!
Speaking of fast firing bolt actions, the british had that covered actually with the lee enfield. I have one from 1942, and that make of rifle went through multiple wars, including ww2 against semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons. Canadians still use it in the military and law enforcement, and hunters here in the US occasionally use them for large game. Sports the 303 round and has almost the same performance of a 7.62x51 nato. The action was designed for the marksman to be able to cycle it quickly without taking his eye off a target.
2:22 almost woke my partner up from laughing so hard, thanks spookston.
Heyoo! I've got a suggestion! There's this rhombus tank for the yellow and blue flags!
It's like power rating 1.5 and has two rascals poking their head out of the top of it! It's very strange that! They're gonna get hit!
Anywho, the barrel sounds amazing and so do the treads! However the generator is too clanky for me
I've been playing with the German Marders and after watching your gameplay... I think I'll pop a smoke
6:25 Low tier is fun… to a point. Around 5.0-6.0 I have a lot of fun in several different countries. The matches still last a while, but everyone has some experience playing and has more robust lineups. I recently went back to bottom tier to start grinding out the Swedish tech tree and man, some of those matches are just absolute chaos. Players everywhere, doing all kinds of things, impossible to anticipate what was about to happen or where an enemy would pop out. It wasn’t as enjoyable as I thought it would be.
you should try to play the us tech tree tier 6 ( m60's , early bradley and the starship) the early bradley sometimes has the fastest prepare speed for the TOW ever, but only if u dont actively try to use it. when you do, suddenly a romanian steals your motor that opens the tow rocket system and its sometimes so slow you cant fire for 10 seconds ( my last encounter using it)
You should play the Stuer Emil at its br or at 5.3, love just being able yo go through the front plant of jumbos
I actually met the pilot of that A10 from the 2003 incident a couple years ago.
Nice guy, but definitely still haunts him.
APDS of the Fv324 is alr being affected by the APDS "neft". The APDS belt used to do much more post pen dmg.
Saw the title and said out loud: Sounds like some A-10 bait. Was not disappointed.
Yo Spookston I love ur videos can you do Katyusha next?
I'd still really like to see you play the Object 120.
Throwing tent-poles through people at its battle rating can be quite fun.
yet again another video with the funny title made by the funny tankman
Thanks for that Spooks hope you're doing well despite being virtually asked to leave every military group possible x)
This tank was amazing when it came out. It was like the first IFV in the game as well. There were no bmps and very little wheeled vehicles. I do miss Warrior being able to launch its missile even at 50kmph+
We need the overhauled variants honestly, such as the 40mm variant, the warrior 2000, etc. We could even get the prototypes
Seventh time in a row requesting for you to play the sherman firefly.
The Warriors cannon sounds like a shoe being slapped on the ground.
You should play naval, its actually fun. The USS moffett and USS helena both have tech tree variants (Porter and Brooklyn respectively) and they are very powerful and fun to play. I used to play GAB a lot but have been having much more fun in NRB
Fun is very subjective between ships... If spookston believes the Warrior to be a terrible IFV I dare him to use the Tacoma class Frigate which is quite frankly the worst ship in game (your chances of seeing one is incredibly low for how shit it's).
Am looking forward to the stressful time am going to have with vehicle and here I thought the concept 3 was bad
I love this vehicle so much, more than the bradley cause the rounds have more pen and it handles well, you say you didn't like it, but you saw it was pretty reliable.
You should play the FlaRakRad. Its very tiny, insanely agile, super lethal, and its very fast. VERY meta vechicle
God, I can feel the slow rate of fire I could even hear the round, struggling get out of the barrel
Warrior was designed in the late 70s to one shot BMPs at 1000m which it did very well.
In my opinion the warrior is the best for simulation battles it suits his style of play you have to play him in the second line drive to the position look around for that we have thermal vision help the team with heavy targets spot the enemy vehicles I enjoyed playing it very well
Would love to see some type 60 sprg action in the future if possible
Those random halo CE sound effects always bring a smile
