It isn’t really in any packs unless it’s the main content mod because of how progression breaking it is also it legit gives you creative flight for the cost of a single villager ontop of infinite items it’s creative mode with a bit of progression built into it
1.7.10 used to be the heaven for minecraft mods. Orespawn, thaumcraft, galacticraft, bibliocraft, ect. If anyone here remembers crazy craft modpack, you have been around for so long.
I keep playing on 1.7.10 now days, and I really fucking love it, I often play with 300 mods that somehow make sense between them (Most are QoL btw, most forgotten mods in this vid for me are real alive)

I didn't start until after vanilla 1.8 came out, but 1.7.10 was a significant checkpoint for a lot of mods (I believe it was at least partially to do with how Mojang drastically changed block/item models in 1.8 which made updating things require people to learn the new json model & blockstate system, when very few tools existed for it at the time). As such, I still played quite a few 1.7.10 packs because that was what bigger packs were stuck at for quite a few years...
Hell, last time I sat down and played Minecraft was 1.6.4. That was back when Thaumcraft was still at 4 and the Forestry mod was the only was you could do stuff with bees.
I found about these mods via the ancient archives. I still wish to play them, but can't even load them because apparently 1.7.10 being a decade old version means that its code is too outdated for my computer
Love the video! I should note, ProjectE is still being updated to this day, and Archimedes Ships has been remastered and split into Valkyrien Skies (which adds support for physics) and Eureka (which adds the actual ship part). Valkyrian even has a crossover mod with Create, called Clockwork.

then I would like to inform you that almost all of these except archimedes are extremely popular in 1.12.2 and are still being used in packs made for the version today
You can always play those old packs still. I just started playing journey to the core (1.7.) I'm even considering hunting down the older tech heavy mods like galactic craft packs. I miss those days.
god i miss the morph mod, every time i come back to modded minecraft i look to see if it’s been updated because it was such a huge part of my early modded experiences. it made killing a bat an important part of progression, getting to fly around as one of those was such a cool experience. i hope someone picks it back up eventually, i would hate to see it vanish into memory altogether.
Bibliocraft, Carpenters Mod, and Balkan's Weapons were among my favorites. Biblio added so much, including customizable furniture and a typewriter where mobs could write books. There was the Shadow Dimension, which had potential, Ancient Ruins, and while Mo' Creatures hasn't been forgotten, it seems to have been abandoned, the same with Millnaire, with it's varied cultures and settlements that grew if you traded resources with them.
I have missed Bibliocraft for the last few versions, I occasionally used the shelves and such, but the really OP thing was the printing press letting you copy enchanted books. Modern mods give /other/ ways of duping enchants but the Printing Press holds a place in my heart and memory.
There's still a Carpenters blocks, Millenaire would have a comparison in MineColonies, but yeah the lively world aspect of Millenaire isn't there, And I also miss Bibliocraft
Balkans Weapons is still the greatest Vanilla+ weapons mod ever. Mo’ Creatures was cool, but nowadays mods like Alex’s Mobs and Enemy Expansion outclass it. I miss IndustrialCraft, GalactiCraft, Witchery, and Fossils & Archaeology. Also shoutout to the Candy Land dimension lol Edit - there’s a Balkan’s Weapons port on 1.20.1 called Balkan’s Weapons Legacy
My greatest achievement in Thaumcraft was making a full scale transmutation & imbuing underground facility. I could craft any Thaumcraft item I wanted, no matter how dangerous, with ease & no risk. -A max height de-constructor for materials, which fed into a horizontal wall of void jars for every aspect, which I painstakingly made filters for all. At the very end of the loop was an aspect crystalizer if I somehow filled a jar. These would be fed into a chest for storage -My crafting room which included a max tier thaumaturgy circle whose stability patterns ran 24 blocks deep (8 layers, 2 air spaces between each for repair access). It included a ring of flux scrubbers & stabilizers in case something went wrong. -A reactor room, made of 8 placed nodes which powered all my equipment & safety measures. Each were surrounded by strong blocks & isolated from the rest of the facility in case a node "melted down". I recall the OP handed the project over to someone else but their debut update was not received well. Removed or replaced almost all the wands with a glove & removed the void labyrinth. It was done as a separate mod but I can't seem to find it anymore. I don't mind returning to 1.8.9 to play Thaumcraft, a lot of mods I liked playing stopped there, but I really wish to enjoy them all with the new vanilla items & mechanics. I've tried playing other magic mods available today but it just isn't the same.

“Okay, sure, I’ll bite.” >As old as 1.7.10 “Ow. I mean, I’m watching somebody play on that version of GregTech right now.” >Entry 1: Open Blocks “Oh hey, it’s the one mod I keep coming back to 1.7 for. I’m not an old fogey. I’m not an old fogey. Agrarian Skies wasn’t that long ago, I am not five seconds away from crumbling into dust.”
The thing that confuses me is I swear open blocks is on 1.12.2. I'm literally playing a 1.12.2 modpack with elevators. Or is this a case where certain features of open blocks were ported but not the whole mod?
A solid chunk of these mods have been abandoned by their creators but have been picked up by others to carry on their legacy. Many features of OpenBlocks like gliders and luggage now have dedicated mods to keep them alive. Cyclic is a relatively new mod that captures a lot of the same vibe as OpenBlocks did. No theme but lots of utilities. Galacticraft is now Ad Astra. Extra Utilites items generally are parts of other mods now, from the Rainbow Generator being a part of Iron Furnaces, Angel Blocks having their own mod, and Cursed Earth being in Mob Grinding Utilities. ProjectE used to be in every modpack until it went on haitus before modpacks exploded in size as PC building became more popular. I always like to think that there's three different eras of modding. the 1.7.10 era, the 1.12.2 era, and the 1.16.4 era. Each era was defined by how long it took for Forge to update. All of them were litmus tests for how much mod devs wanted to rewrite their mod code since Mojang kept rewriting the codebase. There are iconic mods of each era that are sadly left behind. Pour one out for Thaumcraft.
None of these mods died in 1.7. The original mods were updated to at least 1.12 and all of them have some equivalent that is updated to 1.20. Openblocks: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Extra utilities: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Project E: 1.20 Archimedes ships: eureka! and valkyrien skies updated to 1.20 Morph: remorphed updated to 1.20
@@vitofrateschi2708the hangup here really is that the mod this guy is using isn't Project E. Equivalent Exchange was the original name. The guy quit and Project E was the replacement mod by a different guy.
Thaumcraft is what finally convinced me to get Minecraft. I saw someone's Let's Play of it, building a nice ranch in a plains by an ocean. It enthralled me. I knew basic Minecraft wouldn't give me anything to actually DO for long. But Thaumcraft... that led me on quests and missions that core Minecraft could never do. I so hope Team COFH manages to pull of 7.
If there's one mod I miss the most, it's gotta be Sync. Being able to clone yourself and hop between clones was a really unique way to solve transportation in big modpacks, especially ones that dealt with multiple dimensions like Galacticraft's, plus it was a really fun and somewhat balanced way to circumvent hardcore death. (It also just looked so cool to have a space station hovering over Jupiter with a dozen clones in vats whilst working on your next project).
One of my favorite forgotten mod was Star Miner, The fact that you could create your own planets with their own gravity was just insane to me. And the new space dimension was so fun to traverse. Such a shame it's forgotten. It's not even available by the original creator of the mod.
This video just gave me a big flashback. There was an old German smp called troll wars where everyone would've prank everyone (which the name says) and every mod in this video was in that smp
Ain't no way - you should look up trollcraft my man, I'm pretty sure that premise wasn't as original as you think... (that doesn't say anything about the quality though)

I agree. That's why on the very rare occasion I play Minecraft it's still 1.7.10. I just haven't seen anything of interest that's been added since then, and I like the wealth of mods available to that version of Minecraft.
Whats kind of crazy is that my group of friends basically played exclusively on modded 1.7.10 until 2021. We were all dumbfounded when the realization hit that we were playing on a 7 year old version of the game. That version houses so many memories and so many of my favorite mods... I still miss thaumcraft 4, and the nearlingly endless amounts of expansions for it
I miss the Sync mod. Cloning yourself was fun, especially when you had a bunch of dimensions loaded up so you could just send your consciousness to a clone stored in that dimension instead of having to go there from the Overworld.
Open Blocks and ExtraUtilities were must haves for mod packs back in the day. Especially technology & automation focused ones. Barrels were really handy for things like BuildCraft's oil & fuel, the liquid tank was great for storing stuff, glider worked great with jetpacks, generators worked perfectly with the machines from Thermal Expansion & Minefactory Reloaded (another forgotten mod).
@@Myne1001 Industrial Foregoing I believe is the one that came from Mine factory, Open Blocks and Extra Utils have basically become a dozen odd mods, Cyclic being a close comparison
HBM Nuclear Tech Mod is one of my absolute favorites. It doesn't really seem "forgotten" moreso it doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves at least for a mod of its sheer size and complexity. What started out as a fun little mod adding nuclear bombs and missiled progressed soooo far into a mod that could genuinely be played by itself for a full tech mod experience. There's amazingly detailed multiblock machines with stunning 3D models for _everything_ from the simplest early industrial age machines all the way to the most advanced reactors that we still don't have in real life today. And there's just so much else including new weapons, building blocks, structures, bosses, and the list just goes on. Man, I remember archimedes ships... Was so fun making massive airships and sailing the skies. Still have it in my 1.7.10 pack I threw together and occasionally still play, even if I've mostly migrated to 1.12.2 now.
Blightfall is still one of my favorite modpacks. I deeply wish for Thaumcraft to be updated for more modern versions for the sole reason that I want a Blightfall 2.0. Another good older mod is Ender IO. When I was starting to get into tech mods, it was nice having something that was easy enough to understand, but that also made me feel like I was becoming a technological wizard.
Railcraft is in 1.20 and ars noveu is a pretty good replacement for ars magica as it is intended as a sucessor of it and we can say orespawn was a good mod until the creator went insane and made a cult using the stolen mob's that are in orespawn to gain money (yes half of the mob's from orespawn were stolen from other creators)
This video was an incredible nostalgia trip, I have seen the comments talking about ProjectE but also ProjectE had a massive overhaul that stopped it being so incredibly OP, the overhaul was so big I don't consider it to be the same mod that you covered in the video, power flowers, the rings, transmutation tablet. Great video!
I mean I guess it depends on what modpacks you’re playing. Openblocks/extra utilities is in gtnh for example which is probably the most worked on modpack at the moment and has been for literally forever. But it’s 1.7.10 so it just makes sense to find these old really amazing mods in there (thaumcraft, blood magic, etc.) I’m glad some of these older ones do end up making it into new modpacks and are being kept up to date because they simply feel like done mods. A lot of the newer ones feel like they cramped a lot of cool things in there under one theme but didn’t really bother to balance it all or make sure it all works smoothly. (New mods also tend to lack yt tutorials, documentation, wikis, or any other form of explaining certain things). One last thing I wanted to add is that projecte has been used in a variety of packs over the years. Not many understandably because it’s a pain to balance properly without having to remove emc values from to many items making the mod seem obsolete or leaving to many emc values in the pack severely reducing the difficulty. If done right it’s a great addition tho imo.
I appreciate that the title calls them EXTINCT and not forgotten, im sure plenty of people (including myself) know all of these mods and may have even played with some of them recently even at the cost of playing a dusty version of minecraft
Thaumcraft is my favorite mod of all time, absolutely loved every iteration of it. Was so sad when Azanor gave it up and moved on to pursue real life stuff. The absence of it left a hole in the modding space that kept me playing on 1.12. Baffles me that there's never been a proper successor mod made by others, unlike many other popular old mods. Didnt get back into modding newer versions until Create came out. Thaumcraft is still my top mod of all time, but Create is an *easy* second place, such a well designed mod in every way. Wish i could have my two favorite mods together tho, the theming would be amazing
Honestly everything after like 1.4 to me feels new and all updates since sort of converge in my head like the Wither and villager trading still feels new to me. I feel ancient 😅
@@TrixyTrixter half of these mods are still extremely popular and have been updated for modern Minecraft and the other half just have better alternatives
For 1.16.5 I created a mod called the soulbound dimension, I was in the process of making it when Minecraft updated twice, I got left behind almost immediately, and now the only people that play my mods are faithful users of 1.16.5 or me, I can't even imagine the amount of mods that people made 5-10 years ago
5:33 And that’s why I always did the follow up ritual to make a pseudo-inversion sigil. Not only does it have infinite durability and unstable ingots you make with it don’t explode, but the tools you make with those ingots are much stronger. The sword you make with them is even able to kill creative mode players.
As a person who only really plays in 1.7.10 i play with the first three mods regularly alongside fisk superheros (which is a superhero mod that was developed around 1.7.10 3 years ago and still gets updated) as well as orespawn
Archimedes ships hasn't been entirely forgotten, at least in a sense. There are multiple projects currently up not only working on recreating the mods core idea, but pairing it with the create mod, allowing you to make the steampunk airship of your dreams. Valkyrien skys and create aeronautics
this was incredibly freaking weird for me because older versions of minecraft are what i prioritize mods with, with 1.12.2 being the latest i tend to play. so every single mod mentioned in this list is one i not only recently play, but STILL play to this day, so hearing them referred to as extinct and a lost era is a complete mental whiplash for me
Archimedes ship mod has a spiritual successor called the eurika mod, it allows you to do all the same stuff as archimedes but it allowes you to walk around on the ship while its flying use any utility blocks like furnaces and chests, and it's not limited to air ships since you can use them as normal boats too, they are still updating it and I heard they want to add submarines to it.
These mods are all still updated and used frequently, or have variations of them made under different names. Feels like a lack of any research tbh. Open blocks and extra utilities were each updated to 1.12.2 and feature heavily in any new modpacks from that version (which is a lot, considering 1.12.2 is still the most popular modding version), and both also have variations under different names for 1.20. projecte is also still being updated and recently has been in most ftb kitchen sink packs and atm9tts.
I remember this one mod, I think it was called Metaworlds, it was basically a far more advanced version of Archimedes' ships which allowed for things to be shrunk and grown. It seems like it was abandoned and also scrubbed from the internet, since the only download I could find was actually a virus.
But by a large margin. The amount of absolutely game changing mods and ease of use for those mods kinda sets minecraft ahead- Not to mention the sandbox aspect.
Man this makes me feel old. I remember coming back from school excited to watch people play these mods. Hell does anyone remember when Jerome did those dome wars with some of these exact mods and customs villagers. What about the prison escapes or Ssundee’s OG crazy craft. Man the hype I felt for those vids were insane.
It’s really funny seeing ProjectE in this form since I remember it during the days of Tekkit where it was more about chests and stationary inventories than it was about an on the go utility. Also all the tools and rings were so powerful yet completely broken like the flying ring that never actually took energy. Also interesting seeing it as just its own mod instead of being a complimentary mod that helps the rest of the mod pack. In fact basically every single mod mentioned here was functionally that. Small mods that added a fair bit, but were only ever complimentary mods to whatever mod pack you were playing.
Out of the one's actually abandoned, I'm noticing a trend. Their too broad, and thus in the time they could have been updated, a few separate teams instead went ahead and focused on a key aspect, and ran with it. The reasoning they were abandoned is the lack of focus, and no more is that evident than your first example. If you wanted any of those features, like gliders, why would you not install a mod dedicated to it and other movement mechanics over the grab bag solution? You wouldn't.
Most of the mods that you look at in this video are my go-to mods when it comes to playing 1.7.10. All of them add things to minecraft that either change the dynamic of gameplay or add things that just feel fluid, especially when used with other mods. The 1.7.10 era of minecraft modding will always be my favorite
Been doing a 1.7.10 hbms nuclear tech playthrough, and its still actively updated constantly, and they cant go more than 2 weeks without adding a bunch of new stuff. I really recommend it for people into tech mods, its a full fledged tech mod not just nukes and stuff.
EE2 was and still is my favourite mod of all time, it makes EVERY block useful, every farm useful, speeds up gameplay and it rocks. I wish someone could balance it, i think if they just left the alchemy part and removed all the OP items it could work
ProjectE is the official updated version. It used to be Equivalent Exchange 3, but FTB made a recreation of the OG in 1.20.4. Also Extra Utilities, Open Blocks, Morph mod, and Origins are all still updated to this day. ProjectE is 1.20.1, Extra Utils has a "Reborn" for 1.18.2, Open Blocks is only 1.12.2 as the full mod, but some pieces (like open blocks elevator) are up to 1.21. OG Morph by iChun is only up to 1.16.5, but there is a plugin variant by BumbleBeee_ for 1.21. And Origins for Fabric is updated to 1.20.2, with a Forge version by a different creator in 1.20.1. So *NONE* of these mods, aside from the full mod of Open Blocks and Archimedes' Ships, is extinct
I think PopularMMOs is probably a large part of why a lot of people still remember the Morph mod. He's certainly why I remember it, I was always excited to see what new mob he'd morph into
The best thing about equivalent exchange is that classic skyblock blunder of turning the floor into sand and falling into the void with all of their good items. I miss the OG skyblock challenge map of the FTB pyramid. The quest book packs just don't have the same feel. Also the destruction catalyst has a long mode where it blasted a 3x3x64 tunnel out instantly with the option for the item ball (condenses all the drops to 1 entity to reduce lag) or just void everything. Truly the ultimate mining device, i know EE is overpowered, but it's a ton of fun.
wow, this felt like I was a veteran who hasnt hold a gun for years get handed a rifle. I forgot all of these mods but the moment you uttered their names it came like a wave.
God im so old. I remember ALL of these mods. They were in old modpacks like the orginial Crazy Craft. God this was a blast of nostalgia straight to the face. This made my night, thank you for reminding me of simpler, happier times
Galacticraft is basically replaced by Ad Astra. My pick for the best forgotten mod was Red Power 2, lost since 1.4.7. This was due to the dev, tired by the limitations of the Minecraft Engine, starting work on their own game, which was meant to be Red Power 3. This game has not been released, and other mods, notably Project Red, tried to replicate RP2, but it just doesn't have the feel.
Most of these are still fresh in my mind actually! Me and my friends did the whole Golden Cobblestone modpack a couple times. As the guy in charge of resource gathering, the Deep Dark realm was a dream come true
What I am fascinated about.... I've been playing since alpha... Before food bar was even a thing and redstone was a big brain stuff.... Then since 1.0.0-1.2.5-1.3.2-1.4.7-1.5.2...these were the patches where mods like thaumcraft, MoCreatures, BC,IC2, Mekanism, Galaxy craft thrived... Even Twilight Forest which looked different to how it looks now because of these "Mole Domes" with goblin-like creatures It's quite a journey to see Minecraft being a simple enjoyable game turn into such a time investment if you want to do something in mods It became a milti task although there are modpacks like Greg Craft which extend the game time up to 15k hours.... which is an absurdly lot of time Open blocks and extra utilities are still somewhat welcome because of what it brings even in 1 12.2 By far I think Equivalent Exchange was by far the most left behind where it was an absolutely great concept of giving any item a meaning and cost
Extra Utilities and open blocks haven’t been updated in a long time but much of their content from both mods live on in other similar mods. ProjectE and Morph Mod are both either actively updated or have a fork that’s being actively worked on, and Archimedes ships lives on in create aeronautics. I wouldn’t say that these mods have been necessarily forgotten, but rather that they’ve changed and evolved in other ways, and live on in other works. Great video still!
I remember enjoying the witchery mod a lot. It was so fleshed out with all the different things you could do and i never found a mod that replaced it so i kept going back to 1.7.10 for a very long time.
the first version i played with mods was 1.4.7. i remember the classics: forestry, reis minimap, applied energistics, ars magica, gregtech, gravitation suite, red power, thaumcraft, industrialcraft, buildcraft, millenaire, minions, mystcraft, logistic pipes, portalgun, railcraft, ropes+, mo creatures, nether ores, smart moving. Just the ones i know how to use to this day. Those were good times
ProjectE is still very much alive and well and it is perfect for speedrunning every other mod one way or another. As soon as you get a collector going, it takes a max of like 4 hours to get to insane levels of EMC values, and basically have access to anything and everything you desire Archimedes' ships actually got continued somewhat in the form of Valkyrian Skies, slowly being integrated into the Create Clockwork addon, but that is still a bit buggy from what i heard
Love this video. So many memories using these old mods. My favorite packs were always Hexxit and Attack of the B Team. Would love to see a possible continuation explorering more lost mods
Open blocks for sure isn't forgotten as several of its items are still kept alive by other mods, like it's elevators and angel blocks. Same for extra utils with stuff like compressed cobble, the deep dark and cursed earth. Projecte also has multiple successor mods that are still alive to this day, gone yes - but these mods will never be forgotten
Open blocks got taken apart and has some mods reimplementing things from it: gliders, elevators, etc. Archimedes ships has its own successor - Eureka! Ships! (Which is an add-on for a library Valkyrien Skies)

I have missed Bibliocraft for the last few versions, I occasionally used the shelves and such, but the really OP thing was the printing press letting you copy enchanted books. Modern mods give /other/ ways of duping enchants but the Printing Press holds a place in my heart and memory.
Bibliocraft also had this badass book editor that you just don’t see any solid alternative for in newer versions of MC
There's still a Carpenters blocks,
Millenaire would have a comparison in MineColonies, but yeah the lively world aspect of Millenaire isn't there,
And I also miss Bibliocraft
Balkans Weapons is still the greatest Vanilla+ weapons mod ever. Mo’ Creatures was cool, but nowadays mods like Alex’s Mobs and Enemy Expansion outclass it.
I miss IndustrialCraft, GalactiCraft, Witchery, and Fossils & Archaeology. Also shoutout to the Candy Land dimension lol
Edit - there’s a Balkan’s Weapons port on 1.20.1 called Balkan’s Weapons Legacy
My greatest achievement in Thaumcraft was making a full scale transmutation & imbuing underground facility. I could craft any Thaumcraft item I wanted, no matter how dangerous, with ease & no risk.
-A max height de-constructor for materials, which fed into a horizontal wall of void jars for every aspect, which I painstakingly made filters for all. At the very end of the loop was an aspect crystalizer if I somehow filled a jar. These would be fed into a chest for storage
-My crafting room which included a max tier thaumaturgy circle whose stability patterns ran 24 blocks deep (8 layers, 2 air spaces between each for repair access).

I suppose Minecraft 1.7.10 modding is dead except GTNH of course
Is the GregTech video you are watching perhaps the "Starting from nothing" skyblock thing NeuroticGoose is currently doing? That one is really good.
The thing that confuses me is I swear open blocks is on 1.12.2. I'm literally playing a 1.12.2 modpack with elevators. Or is this a case where certain features of open blocks were ported but not the whole mod?
@@GoldMike_ Yeah, it totally is up to 1.12.2, I have no idea why OpenBlocks is being sat right next to Archimedes Airships
I'd argue hand gliders are part of the base game as elytras
None of these mods died in 1.7. The original mods were updated to at least 1.12 and all of them have some equivalent that is updated to 1.20.
Openblocks: kibe utilities updated to 1.20
Extra utilities: kibe utilities updated to 1.20
Project E: 1.20
Archimedes ships: eureka! and valkyrien skies updated to 1.20
Morph: remorphed updated to 1.20

Thaumcraft is what finally convinced me to get Minecraft. I saw someone's Let's Play of it, building a nice ranch in a plains by an ocean. It enthralled me. I knew basic Minecraft wouldn't give me anything to actually DO for long. But Thaumcraft... that led me on quests and missions that core Minecraft could never do.
I so hope Team COFH manages to pull of 7.
1.7.10 is literally mod heaven, and thanks to my PC specs I can have over a hundred mods installed and still have over a 100 fps.
YEAH StarMiner was so good
Indeed, Japanese people made the craziest mods.
This video just gave me a big flashback. There was an old German smp called troll wars where everyone would've prank everyone (which the name says) and every mod in this video was in that smp

Everyone is pointing out that projectE is still being updated but it's also worth noting that extra utilities is not really forgotten, all utilities/utils mod are clearly inspired by it
I used to play with all these mods. 1.7.10 truly was the golden era for minecraft modding. Mods don't feel the same in modern versions.

Extra utilities also adds another dimension called the last millennium, and it has all the best things like
Also, you can do another ritual in the end to make a division sigal that can make ingots that don't blow up in your face
Orespawn, Railcraft, Tropicraft, Bibliocraft, Buildcraft, Ars Magica, Forestry, Witchery, and so much more, lost to time. But most of all, Thaumcraft.
Poor Equivalent Exchange... It's recreation takes its spot in a list of extinct mods. :c
If done right it’s a great addition tho imo.
projecte still exists and is one of my favorite mods to add to a modpack when i'm bored and want balance to take some paid time off
Most of these are still around and loved by many
Projecte isnt really forgotten its just too op to make a balanced gameplay without changing its craftings

I appreciate that the title calls them EXTINCT and not forgotten, im sure plenty of people (including myself) know all of these mods and may have even played with some of them recently even at the cost of playing a dusty version of minecraft
Damn a lot of them were even core mods in most mod packs from back then. How times have changed...
Wish i could have my two favorite mods together tho, the theming would be amazing

this was incredibly freaking weird for me because older versions of minecraft are what i prioritize mods with, with 1.12.2 being the latest i tend to play. so every single mod mentioned in this list is one i not only recently play, but STILL play to this day, so hearing them referred to as extinct and a lost era is a complete mental whiplash for me
Shameful omission of rivalrebels

Hell does anyone remember when Jerome did those dome wars with some of these exact mods and customs villagers. What about the prison escapes or Ssundee’s OG crazy craft. Man the hype I felt for those vids were insane.
The thing I loved the most from OpenBlocks was Luggage. Getting it and upgrading it was always one of my first tasks in a modded game.

Open blocks was so good. So influential that there are Koda that simply add the things of open blocks, like the elevator

This really threw me back hard - its crazy how many of these mods I recognized but didnt really know the names of cause I wasnt quite into modding yet
Most of these are still fresh in my mind actually! Me and my friends did the whole Golden Cobblestone modpack a couple times. As the guy in charge of resource gathering, the Deep Dark realm was a dream come true
Most of these mods aren't forgotten they were just replaced.
Even Twilight Forest which looked different to how it looks now because of these "Mole Domes" with goblin-like creatures
It's quite a journey to see Minecraft being a simple enjoyable game turn into such a time investment if you want to do something in mods
It became a milti task although there are modpacks like Greg Craft which extend the game time up to 15k hours.... which is an absurdly lot of time
Open blocks and extra utilities are still somewhat welcome because of what it brings even in 1 12.2
By far I think Equivalent Exchange was by far the most left behind where it was an absolutely great concept of giving any item a meaning and cost
As soon as you get a collector going, it takes a max of like 4 hours to get to insane levels of EMC values, and basically have access to anything and everything you desire
Archimedes' ships actually got continued somewhat in the form of Valkyrian Skies, slowly being integrated into the Create Clockwork addon, but that is still a bit buggy from what i heard
Love this video. So many memories using these old mods. My favorite packs were always Hexxit and Attack of the B Team. Would love to see a possible continuation explorering more lost mods
Tekkit will be eternal. It felt so intelligent back then!
