The Witchery mod back in the day is still my absolute favorite. It was awesome and unlike anything I had seen before.

UA-camrs gotta keep their reputation safe and avoid drama but I don't sooo. A LOT of vanilla+ mods are the same thing. Vanilla+ is fun! Not saying it isn't, but if you want to play something with a different feel from vanilla, you have to search very hard.

Vanilla+ mods are more beginner friendly now getting mods is easier than before so modders making more vanilla+ getting more players than mods which are more intense

I also think that as the community has expanded and done more and more people have realized the insane potential of minecraft's gameplay. People understand that in a game like minecraft basically anything is possible, and therefore don't want something to just automatically fill in the power fantasy. Players, myself included, want MORE MINECRAFT as opposed to an entirely new game based on minecraft. We want the building blocks to create our own world, not someone else to do most of the creating for us.

Create gives you drills that you attach to a vanilla minecart, along with block placers to not only add more rail to your tunnel but also block off any fluids you may tunnel through. Buildcraft gives you an industrial quarry with a metal framework that it builds itself before using a literal mining laser on a hose to dig down to bedrock.

I think people just yearn for the OG Minecraft magic. It's also why mojang gets flamed constantly for not updating often enough or not with enough content. We've been playing Minecraft for 5-15 years. They see the issues with the game in itself and want it's core to improve. We don't want new crazy content if the base game doesn't "feel right" anymore. And that applies to both the modders (who want to improve the game where they see flaws) and the community (who want the problems they see fixed). I've been saying for years now that Mojang needs to release a *vertical integration and QOL update*. No new block, no new mobs, no new biomes. Just polishing whats already there and intergrating the new content they've released over the last 2 years with the decade old features that nobody wants to use anymnore. Fixing the foundation that has been getting shaky with all the fancy stuff just built on top. I think when people are satisfied with the core of minecraft we will see more crazy mod ideas and concepts again. Because modders have room for creativity if they don't feel like they have to "fix the game".

Crazy craft is what i aim for when i want a mod to play, it adds so much that makes me excited to play unlike most mods nowadays

One of my favorites to play is Craft to Exile 2. However I do understand what you are getting at. Some of the older mods feel better than entire modpacks and its just sad.

Because, it's boring. Having over the top OP mods that make you invincible, or create resources for you etc. Give the game low/short playability/replayability. Once you make said items you may as well be in creative... Why do you think mod packs like ATM or "expert" packs are around, to give your OP setup something to work towards. PS. A number of the mods you mentioned are still around in 1.20.

The reason i never tried anything past 1.12 or 1.16 was cuz of the combat update and the fact that all the good mods were relegated to the better updates of the past

I think current minecraft *feels* like modded old minecraft, I really wish mojang focused more on supporting their modding community and expanding on what minecraft *could do* rather than adding new useless animals (cuz we can't be incentivizing animal abuse) or useless features like the sniffer or biomes that feel straight out of a mod like savannah.

this was incredibly freaking weird for me because older versions of minecraft are what i prioritize mods with, with 1.12.2 being the latest i tend to play. so every single mod mentioned in this list is one i not only recently play, but STILL play to this day, so hearing them referred to as extinct and a lost era is a complete mental whiplash for me

the only mod that hasn't been updated since 1.7.10 is the archimedes ship mod the rest are at least 1.12.2 the morph mod and project e are both updated to newer versions than 1.12.2 and these updates happened over a year and a half ago did you look up a single one of the mods you were talking about or did you just take 5 mods you like from back then and assume that they didn't get updated?

i blame Microsoft/Mojang for that, can't sell mods now and it's hard to tell what they will say in a year about using there code or mods in general. they already take down mods that they dislike as of right now they ban mods of 18+ nature according to this video they even threaten to sue servers that run banned mods : ua-cam.com/video/t9Ll2CJZ_zU/v-deo.html i can't imagine anyone wanting to make a large Minecraft mod now that Microsoft/Mojang moderates

i run a 1.19.2 minecraft modpack for a server its about (300 mods) and we have no shortage of game changing mods. iron spellbooks, curios api, ice and fire, thermal series, create, ect to the point where its been up for weeks now and i dont think anyone has even hit half of the things to do in the pack. i have no idea what you mean by modern minecraft has no game changing mods. its just not true. what is true is that you have to dig for them because vanilla+ mods are more popular since we have record numbers of people modding the game for the first time but thats about it

Tabitha is definitely reincarnated Miranda. Too many clues pointing towards that...favourite song, the bracelet, shared memories etc. Jade is likely Christopher reincarnated too. Maybe the civil war soldier was also a previous life? The boy in white is definitely being difficult but I think the fallout with Christopher lead to the massacre and he probably partially blames himself for. That explains his reluctance to give direct instructions again. Personally it would be better if he tried several times in the past and Christopher was just the last straw. I'm really wondering if Fatima is able to survive her situation, she has death flags waving high and strong. Maybe there is a subversion and she isn't the major death next episode? It seems like the writers are gonna put alot of restrictions on the time travelling. It's already tied to a location....it's a very difficult plot element to balance.

I feel the reason it has started to feel lacking is a shift in priority in the eyes of modders. They all focus on balance. Older versions of minecraft had *WILDLY* unbalanced mods, and it was up to pack devs to slot them it. Take for example Project Ozone 2. There was extremely op gear that you could get quite early on that would break normal progression, but there were also exceedingly powerful enemies to fight. The big mods like Avaritia aren't needed anymore because we don't have big enough threats to bring need to it. Our threats are not big enough, so it feels stale.

I've never trusted that creepy little boy in weight, I didn't think he's a good guy at all. Sure he might seem to be helping but wasn't he the one that led Boyed to that well where he got the worms? I might be wrong but he does seem to have a huge smile after the entire town got murdered when Victor first met him.

With Jim having such a touching moment with his family I hope I'm wrong but I think he's going to kick the dust in the season finale, I really hope that's not what you're talking about

I would not call a lot of the mods I play with particularly Vanilla+ even in modern versions. Large tech modpacks are not very common anymore because a lot of those large tech mods just aren't being updated to modern versions anymore, and most people who get into modding new versions just aren't interested in making those mods. You will fine tons of non-vanilla friendly mods, Exploration and Combat mods are very popular right now - Alex's Caves is a pretty good example of that. Not to mention, a lot of users hold the mods they download up to VERY high standards. There might just be tech mods exactly how you like them, but you might not ever find them because they don't present themselves well enough to you. There is nothing wrong with the way mods are these days, IMO. These are just the mods people want to make, the ones people show interest in. I might just be different in this way, but I never really found the appeal in a lot of old school modpacks, personally. Very few of them ever appealed to what I like, namely combat.
