In this video I discuss static and dynamic poising and positional timing. I also show how to manually calculate the lift angle so your timing machine can accurately estimate the watch amplitude.
This is part 1 of the video, which is pretty discussion-heavy. Stay tuned for part 2, where I see how close I can get the Bunn Special to zero deviation across six positions.
One correction. I refer to the "escapement" angle. George Daniels calls this the "escaping" angle. Potato potato. Please feel free to jump in if I've misrepresented him or any other topic in any way.
Love the explanation on lift angle calculation. It will help heaps with movements with no data. Thank you.
Thanks very much :)
Another great video, I get more from hearing you explain lift angle than I do when I read about in it in my books. Thanks
Thanks for watching Mike! Glad it was useful.
Making a slowmo video of the balance swing you can identivy the swing angle quite good. I use my phone to do this.
Another brilliant video John. Cannot wait to see the actual adjustments. Also, thank you for the clarification on measuring amplitude.
Thanks Jimmy!
Perfect timing! I just started watching the Illinois Bunn Special series on Tuesday and finished episode 7 last night. :) Thanks for a really fascinating series!
Hey Ray, thanks for writing and for watching! Glad to hear you're enjoying it :)
Just subscribed because I just found this channel. I viewed some of your other videos and you have excellent videos on little covered subjects. Thank you for taking the the time to make your videos.
