Really like the tutorial ! Thank you Kalle !
I have now riveted The repaired balance spoke the way you told me to thanks Kalle. I love your work manship. Now it needs poising.
Thank you for your support John!
YES! Thanks Kalle.
Impeccably performed and narrated ! Bravo !👏
Love this content! 👌
Very good...
Very interesting...Thank you!
This is gold, will bring out my poising tool soon and try to follow this, wish me luck =D
its nothing out of this world, but a small error and you loose everything :)
May the force be with you! ;o)
May the force and The wallet (for buying new spare parts) be with me :D
@@Watcheyes THAS A BIG PROBLEM. Lets see. Do the swiss still produce parts in secret places, or they just melted the old machines they used to do it?
Beautiful work, thank you so much
Thank you for your support Ramone!
@@ChronoglideWatchmaking when I was studying to be a machinist I asked to the master, what about watches, he said: thas fine mechanics, the priciples are the same.Usually I Balance in situ.Thank you
Very nice thanks for the show
Good to hear from you Hakan, Thank you
Soooo Satisfying 😊👏👏
LOL, it is Tony!
Very nice job..
Thank you John!
fascinating‼️®™️ ☑️☑️
Would it not be better, since the balance wheel has meantime screws, to adjust the screw on the lighter side outward to poise the wheel?
I assume by spirit level, the fluid is kerosene or naphtha.
Do you have or can you make video on a truing a bent balance wheel? Example: on 16sz Elgin movement looking at the balance from the side - while running and you can see the balance "dips". Not flat.. The breaks in arms of balance line up, but the arms are bent 90 degrees from gaps between arms. Staff and balance jewels are good
That is a tricky one, i'll keep it in mind!
Or any video for the best way to "attempt" to fix bent arms on a balance wheel. Not a solid balance wheel, but the style with the 2 gaps opposite each other on the wheel. Thank you💪💪💪
Would it be better to dynamically balance using a chronometer?
I would like to reach your level someday
Regards
Karol
Oh nice work , mine has a wobble. Yuk.
Keep on trying John, you'll get there.
Kalle my balance is out of round.. help.
I have a much larger static balancer for my motorcycle wheels!
What kind of bike Peter? I used to restore motorcycles as a hobby.
@@ChronoglideWatchmaking l have a KLR 650 and a Concours 14, which is called a 1400GTR in Europe. I do all of my own work. I'd love to restore an old bike, but I have too many other hobbies!
Serious machines Peter!
I had a a device to balance parts, its mounted on the table just two bars and leveled...worked very well for many prats produced in the shop.-
Why do you file and not adjust with the screws?
The weight screws are always full lock, you need to remove (gently) some weight Hirano.
@@ChronoglideWatchmaking I see. Thanks very much!
Since watching this video, I've tried it with some success.
Thank yo for that! i got 1 good bit of advice- keep the roller jewel 90º from the balance arms. Hmmm I got a new balance (complete) and the roller jewel did not line up. I moved the roller table to line it up, and did a perfect job, but now it is under the balance arm. Should I have turned the hairspring instead? (I am not quite up to trying a balance staff yet- that is coming soon on a Bulova 17AH movement) Thanks for the great channel. Keep up the great work!
Thank you John! It is usual to turn the collet (virole, inside of the balancespring) instead of the double roller / plateau. But whatever is the safest is the good option ;o)
🇮🇩👍 preffec
Kalle sorry. But my balance wheel is out of round... how do I fix that. Thankyou dear friend..
The only logical explanation would be that the balance staff is too small in diameter. No simple task. you have to place the balance ring without the staff in a lathe to find the perfect center and place a new balance staff with slightly bigger (or the right) dimension. May the force be with you John.
Buy a new one...
Where can you buy that micrometer for €150? They're now going for around $500 on ebay if they even come up 😂 😭
Stupid question: why don't watchmakers do static poising with the hairspring installed on the balance wheel? It seems to me you'd want the weight of the entire apparatus sitting in that plane to be balanced, which includes the spring, no?
It must be fitted on the balance cock because of the weight of the stud, but yes interesting thought, less practical but interesting. Thnx!
You print a lot of velocity in a dry component,, it may not end well.
I still don’t get how you know it poised or not?
Hi Tyler, It is poised when is stays still in four positions, there is no heavy point left.
Make the wheel roll, you will see if it has an abnormal weight anywhere.
Usually it stops in the same place , always, since there is a weight in a specific place..and gravity do the remain.
