You’re such a kind, beautiful soul. Love your descriptive stories that often accompany your videos. Makes it as though we’re there at the table with you.
As I'm sitting here thinking what can I have for dinner? Not wanting to cook a meal. I clicked on your video, Bingo! Now I know what I'm having... and by the way it was absolutely delicious 😋. Thanks for sharing 👍. 👋🇨🇦
So many wonderful dishes came out of hard times in Italy (and elsewhere in Europe), especially for Canada and the US after Italian immigrants arrived. Those nonnas knew what they were about! They were not content to just fill up the family. Their mission was to make every meal as amazing as possible. We owe them this lovely soup from today's broadcast, but also ravioli, lasagna, baked ziti, and perhaps even pizza and many, many other dishes that we all love now. Similar nonnas in Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, and everywhere else invented similar food that their children and grandchildren came to love and crave, even when they could afford more expensive food. Thank you for drawing attention to this concept!
Thank you! This video brings back sweet memories. I can hear my Nonna in the kitchen and shuffling down the hallway in every quiet moment. As a tidal wave of her memories rushes in, I embrace the longing in my heart, with a milliard of little diamonds softly falling down my cheeks. I miss you, Nonna. ❤
Hello from Florida! NYC other half the year ! I was raised in NYC and my family is Italian- Barese e Neapolitan! A hug from your Nonna! Such a perfect description! My Barese Nonna made this all the time! I was raised on this ! Thank you for doing this one! ❤ I love it!
❤HI Lisa I grew up eating this soup in the early days i did not like it. AS I got older I started to like it a bit better once I in my twenties MY mom use to make it every other week mostly over the summer when she was really busy with the large garden my dad would grow I have not eaten it in years but, after seeing this recipe I think 🤔 I should give it a try again . I have never made it for my family yet may be this weekend you made it sound so good 😊 thank you 🙏 for your videos I am really enjoying them.🤗.
Your face and nails look really good. That wearied waisted apron was also with those in the 70's. My grandparents were traumatised by post WW1 and Depression times and that pasta name is more than very good
Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Looks and sounds yummy. I know the best part of eating this, is that it makes you think of your loved ones who have gone on before you..Your a beautiful lady. God bless you ...Sherri-Idaho
Che bellissimi ricordi!! Thank you so much for taking me back to my Italian-American childhood in Brooklyn, NY!! You have inspired me to make this! It is bitterly cold and windy here this week! Pasta e piselli!!! Food of the gods e buona per la salute!!! Saluti da NY! S.gra D.
This is a great recipe. Thanks! I make that all the time with canned peas and homemade orecchiette. Sometimes I add tomatoes, potatoes, or greens from the garden. Instead of canned broth, I fake it with water and onion powder, garlic powder, mushroom powder, nutritional yeast, turmeric, dried parsley, salt, and pepper--my own healthy bouillon powder. Orecchiette e Piselli is so economical but not boring. Frugal and boring aren't synonymous. Our peasant ancestors ate heartily if frugally.
Lisa. You used my favorite pasta shape. My memory was jolted at a special time in my life. Coming home from school and my mom making pasta shells with sauce. ❤❤❤. Love your your recipe ❤
Thank you for sharing this recipe. With life often presenting with challenges and busy schedules this recipe shows that joy and comfort can be found in simplicity.❤ Making this for lunch today!
I was taught to make this soup for meatless Fridays. We would add a small can of tomato paste end water instead of meat broth. It brings back a lot of memories.

Thank you for your kind words, Rachel...wishing you all good things :)
Your videos are so interesting & inspiring! We do an Irish take on this recipe, by using potatoes rather than pasta - both ways are delicious!
That’s a wonderful idea, I love potatoes!
I'm making this soup, I love peas!
That just melts my heart. What a lovely video. Thanks for sharing ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Love this so easy! My family did pasta fusull, alot just similar with beans !
Yes, those simple recipes are still so satisfying today!
Lisa, definitely a recipe I’m going to try. It looks delicious.
Thank you, again !! :)

That's a great tip for using tomato paste instead of broth! I may have to try that next time 😊
I look forward to making this. ❤
Thank you pretty lady. Going on my list.
You're welcome, and I hope you love it!
This sounds like its comforting and simple. Do you cook the pasta before you add it in with the other ingredients?
In this case, I just put the pasta in the broth with everything else uncooked and simmer it till it's done
It might take away a bit from the simplicity but I’d like to add a handful of rotisserie chicken to mine.
yes, absolutely wonderful with chicken :)
I've inherited the same knife (it came in a whole set) from my mom!
Thank you 😊
❤💯👍
so glad i found your channel, brings a smile to my face! :) Thank you
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos! Thanks for watching.

Where can I purchase a knife like you have cutting the onion please?
Good question...I haven't been able to find one exactly like what I have but it's called a scalloped offset serrated knife...
❤❤❤❤your amazing and beautiful ❤❤❤
Aw, thank you!
What kind of d of curved knife are you using to cut your onion? I really like it
Grandma Clara (UA-cam grandma). Who did, she passed away, did this recipe. She lived through the Great Depression.
This got me emotional 🥹 ❤ I love that simple food can be so magical and delicious
