Shakespeare implemented tons of subtext about this in his plays. But we don't see this adapted on film or told in modern stories.

    • @djkamp
      @djkamp 8 років тому +3

      There are aspects that are realistic. I think the most realistic parts of django is how people talk and just the key plotpoints. Most westerns are about white dudes vs indians or bandits, but they dont talk about the huge aspect of western cuture, slavery. Django really exposed that, showing a reality and more realistic view of the west in that time period.
      but no, when someone gets shot they dont explode like firecrackers and watermellon

    • @drnanard9605
      @drnanard9605 8 років тому

      LotusMTG You obviously didn't see any italian western. Check Sergio Leone at least, it's Tarantino's favorite director and one of his biggest influence in all of his movies. What you describes could apply to old fashioned american westerns like John Ford's movies, but spaghetti western is something else entirely. Django is a modern spaghetti western.

    Loved this interview! The interviewer asked all the right questions and it was obvious that he had a lot of insight and maturity regarding both the subject of the film and Tarantino's writing/directing. It's always nice to see when the interviewer and interviewee are on the same page, it makes for good chemistry I feel.

    0:30 I think the Volhynian Genocide should be taken into consideration. Quentin would be interested in the fact, that it was the most cruel massacre in the world's history considering the ultra-sadistic torture methods and that the victims were around 120.000 people, mostly women and children. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that the massacre is still banned to be recognized as a genocide, mostly because of the ethnicity of the victims. Same is the Katyn massacre. Polishness is controversial nowadays just like Blackness was in the 1950s. The participation of Poles in the Haitian Revolution and Poles helping the black slaves in obtaining freedom would be also a great movie material. Likewise, the post-WWII communism in Poland and the Jewish elites involved in persecution of Polish war heroes, that's also an unknown and extremely controversial matter, everyone's scared to touch this topic. All the banned and unknown Polish-related topics are cool, ready scenarios for movies.
