This is impossible! There is no way that all the mechanical and electronic parts survived all the moisture and dirt! Also u didn't show that u calibrated anything. And finally the rubber belts. From the date on the motor we can see that it was manufactured in 1993. Once i repaired a cassette deck from 1999, all the belts had turned into a sticky mess! I have no idea why pepole think that this video is legit...
To be fair the "restoration " is totally fake but Technics belts hold up really well and rarely turn to mush .... The deck is from 1981 / 1982 .
I dont think restoration is fake. He never showed if the belts are original or not, so he could have them replaced, but the deck is not restored. Not fully .It just works but not as it should. If you listen carefully there is a lots of wow and flutter in the sound I am sure it was not in original recording. Also one channel is way out which is probably easy fix with head azimuth adjustment. He probably screw them in all the way both sides @ 17:23 as he didn't know what is it for (the one with the spring on one side). I can see he is trying to turn slowly input (recording level) knob looking for some effect which has nothing to do with playback and then he got excited about the counter reset button working and even pointing at it with his finger. On the other hand it is true for the technics belts they do last a long time (not submerged in the mud). I still have my old Technics RS-B765 from late 80's connected to my computer amp and it still works. This deck has DD motors for the drive but for spinning the tape and lifting the heads and closing the door the belts are still working now.
its not legit
It was not restored to original operation. At 18:10 you will see a flat ribbon cable. This cable is part of a flexible board with switches and hall sensors. They send control signals to the logic control board that goes at the back of the tape transport mechanism. The cable is broken. It does not have the portion that connect to the control board. The control board it nowhere shown anytime on the video. You can also deduct that by noting he never do any FF, REW, STOP or PLAY command at the front panel controls.
@@craigstaggs8597 I've never had a Technics with bad belts. (6 different models.)
You must have spend al lot of time making a working cassettedeck look like it was completely dead before you started the "restoration".
Glue, sand en probably acid on metal parts. After cleaning and random replacement of some capacitors, it was working without any adjustment.
I am sure we have to start looking this video at the end and then scroll back to see what really happend.

@@gustercc "I think I'm gonna waste my time by commenting on a comment I just read for free.
Yeah, life is good.
Fraud 😠
Yeah I don't think so. Clean-up with a water hose, soldering iron that looks barely fit for plumbing jobs, and somehow you've got access to all the right parts for that specific deck. I'm sure timing belts just grow on trees where you live. All that for a deck that sells on eBay for less than 30 bucks. Pretty sure this was filmed and edited in reverse.
As a hobbyist electronics technician and cassette enthusiast, this is impossible. The tolerance for a motor it +-25Hz @3000Hz, with that much rust and moisture, that motor would not do that.
It's Fake Restoration. It doesn't look trash. They put soil intentionally. But the paints doesn't change still smooth.
Yes... Fully agree with you.
Seen in other vids, the mud looks painted on a lot... bit of a shame but still ok to watch, I guess?
@@illk1978 it's okay if you don't mind your time. For me watching this is wasting my time.
Xacto!
Total y absolutamente falsa!
Envy on maties! This is why Asia cleaned up the 70's electronics wars with the U.S. E.I. Because a young man living in a modest place has the drive, gumption, hunger and "'eye of the tiger" to step on all the Debbie doubters B.S. This engrossing restoration is practically an impossible miracle though (right channel wasn't balanced) lingering issues remained. Hats off to this guy and I'll keep watching in respectful amazing disbelief 👍.
These videos are fake, but I'm not surprised by you, but by the people who believe them.
Why fack , what are your reasons if you are saying the truth !
Fake for what?
@@TheMarkinPereira fake because you don't have the new electric tools or equipped lab or workshop like the technicians in the USA !
@@makyhsmakyhs6766 These are not fake. My cousin is friends with one of these brothers. They are always talking about how he restores junk they find on the streets of Malawi. They use a friends shop for the harder to find machines and testing equipment. They also have access to the capacitor from another friend who owns an electrical supply store. You must be pretty dumb if you think only the US has the equipment to do repairs like this. Travel outside your town more. JFC
@@gustercc
OK pretty dumb, I thought they are emigrants from Latin America living in the USA and refuse to improve their skills like the others , best of luck !
How is it possible to find an abandoned Japanese cassette deck of High Quality such as the Technics M250 Cassette Deck in so good condition and finally ( after a simple restoration) play perfectly as a new one??? How is it possible???
Amazing. There hasn't been such a resurrection from the dead since Lazarus. The dude solders a printed circuit board with a 5 megawatt soldering gun and gets perfect results. He could turn a junk yard into a used car lot of nice preowned automobiles.
ha-ha, funny)
its fake
This is fake dingus. You don’t clean electronics with water.
Bro that's the common belief but with some electronics you can put them IN THE DISHWASHER so you know.
Not all capacitors were replaced. Isostat switches not cleaned inside. DC motors not cleaned inside. It should not be named as restoration. IMHO smells like fake.
Your suspicions are correct.
faked!
Fraudulent ✅
Ive seen these fake restoration vids all over Facebook too. The moment he takes the garden hose and blasts water all over the electronics is a dead giveaway.
How did you adjust the tape heads, since they were completely removed. I miss the whole adjustment part. Of course all levels are off and need to be re-adjusted.
You have been given amazing character and determination one such as I find you a strong positive influence in others in remembering the past is important taking care of it and restoring it regardless of its difficulty

Many of those components will never function again after being water damaged.
Exactly, these vids are bollox all the solenoids would be screwed the caps would be too and god knows what else!
They have another tape deck to replace damaged pieces. Like an donation tape deck. So easy.
Xacto!!

@@armandoweilerneto7975 Ok so then show that, this is just ridiculous.

I used to repair all manner of this audio equipment once, and after thousands of jobs there was a clear correlation between how well off and classy the owner was and the way it was looked after. People like bricklayers were the worst and people from council houses. At the other end of the extreme the hifi might not necessarily be very expensive, even if it were in a huge house, but it was immaculate condition even if over 20 -30 years old. That one looks like it was owned by pigs in a pigsty!
It's fake bro
The most fake ones is how on earth the pcb board itself soaked in mud never build serious corrosions, rust, carbon build ups on components and some of the component parts are detached by this elements? Especially if this unit legitly thrown for a long period of time?
My friend, having such crafty hands, I'd make it factory new XD
parabéns fico lindo lindo trabalho mais aja paciência tenho alguns
That’s exactly how I repair all the Nakamichi cassette decks including the Dragon, cr7 , 660zx, 582, 505 and many others , who needs all the alignment tools and tapes when a screwdriver and a water hose will do ….well done 👍
The real test is the music. But given the choice of music, it’s hard to tell if it s alignment
Similar to what I was going to say. I'm quite sure he is THE go-to guy for Nakamichi owners and collectors the world over. He is also who I rely on for restoring my Porsche 929, Steinway grand, Rolex and Faberge eggs, all of which I found muddied in a bog near my house. Impeccable technique and sophistication on display here.
Woooooow totally impressive ! Beautifull sound
good job
The best restoration I've ever see...
You are not just an artisan because in your art, being the same, your art work is always different: you are quite an artist! I truly admire your work and dedication. Congratulations!

I have no idea how you did that, the soldering iron looked almost as bad as that poor tape deck. 😲😲😲

Very Nice! Good Job! Vintage👍👍❤️
Can Printed Circuit Boards be washed like that with water and still work later if sun dried well?
It looked like the thing had come out of a canal to start with. To answer your question though, as long as it does not have any power stored anywhere on the board in capacitors, back up batteries or even certain types of modern I/C's then yes, in theory you should be able to. Water won't penetrate the parts in a quick wash over so as long as it does not have time to start to rust it should be ok.
BRAVO PAZIENZA E COSTANZA E MOLTISSIMA CAPACITÀ IN ELETTRONICA! OTTIMO RECUPERO!!

Nice work..
Great! Really useful work of art. This technique avoids wasting old items. This work of art brings back provides chances for the obsolete things back to use.
Up to 15 minutes I do exactly the same...
very good work and the final result is impressive.
What about the adjustments of speed and azimut calibration??? Nobody can tell me, that´s not necessary!!
Un genio felicitaciones👌👌👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Your so amazing" so nice watching you...
How did some of the wiring get burnt? Looks like the tape deck may have been connected to a mains voltage that was too high. I am surprised that the mains transformer was still okay and had not been cleaned when it was refitted.
Beurk... :( C'est Bidon.
This time it was a very brutal repair. 1000👍
dude, that cassette player needed a lot of love and patience, and you gave it to him, I congratulate you for your work and dedication. AWESOME
dude, that is a fake video! those methods of "restoration" just killed some of components wihtout chance to repair its. belive me, i know what i tell you.
I can not believe it.
I'm going to hire this guy to work for me.
Finds everything along the street by three capacitors without measuring some paint.
Change a few cables and work like new.
That's when the real fun will begin ))) Look closely for the tricks. Before sending your 5 cents to this guy just watch the movie The Prestige (wow effect).
Zip zip zip... there. It is done! All he needed was his “household handy helper”
That soldering iron….hilarious fake….entertaining though 😆👍
I think it would of been better for everyone if those melodies had remained lost.
Oh! I used to have the same.
