That took me back, I used to go to Woolworths when I was younger and my mother used to be the cook in Finlay’s about 25 years ago. I used to drink in the Granary and the Jean Armour, happy days…

Sorry, a few inaccuracies. I was born and grew up in Minard Road 78 years ago.
The Shed was a dance and reception suite called 'The Marlborough' built and run by Reids the Bakers in the 1920s. It was a very fashionable place for weddings and dinner dances right up to the 1970s.

Walked up Minard road to Kilmarnock road from school every day in the 1970’s. You passed my bus stop ! I left Scotland in 1982. This was fun to watch. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

Worked for a Scottish company in Australia for a few years and visited Glasgow on business twice. Loved the city and the great people who live there. One of my favourite cities in the world.

This is our old neighborhood before we moved to Kilwinning. Used to go to a marketplace in Pollack shaws. There were some great inexpensive little shops and a few restaurants. A lot of the shops are different now. We used to feed the ducks and squirrels at the little pond in that area. Thank you for posting our old neighborhood.

I lived in Deanston Drive and worked in a solicitor's office on Kilmarnock Road, but moved away over twenty years ago. I remember the hotel in the shopping centre and Woollies. Thanks for filming this video. It kinda of gave me a nostalgic trip remembering my old haunts, my stories of living there. I know there will be new stories for the people who live there now. It's a bit more than five mins from city centre. Best wishes

Thank you for this indepth look at Shawlands. I always wondered what kind of shops were on that high level bit on Kilmarnock Rd. I know Shawlands from passing through it to go to work at the NSB. Long time ago. I used to meet friends on Shawlands Cross and we'd do some of the pubs. There used to be a pub on the left-hand side on Pollockshaws Road just past the cross. Can't remember the name of it.

The Shed used to be the Plaza Dance Hall in the 60's, was more ballroom than anything else.

Hi Kevin, the buildings on the other side of the road are really nice, the road is very good for restaurants, bars and shops I prefer that to modern shopping centres if you’ve been in one you’ve been in them all , all the shops are the same, I bet the weatherspoons is a popular bar with students cheap food and beer Glasgow has some excellent old buildings, nice video Kevin
