    Just used this method on a Honda head 2 months ago and it wasn't my first time. It's not just about saving money It's being resourceful and making your own paths in life. Common sense is sometimes all a poor man has in the bank. You are a creative thinker and the kind of guy that will make things happen no matter what this world throws at you.

    Doing my valves and want to do it right because whatever you neglect bites you in the ass. However rounding up the correct conventional grinding stones and cutters for valve seats adds up. I'm seeing this and I'm like hell yeah I can get my work done what a Great Idea to Get the Valve Seats Done.
    Excellent Tip👍👍👍Thanx💯💯

      It works. That engine still runs great and has solid compression.

    Ive done this on two Model A engines and they both ran great

    No hate here. In my early days of Small Block chevys, fords, and no money for seat grinding equipment..I did the same thing. only I used a drill on the valve stem ( I understand you cant do that with a Flathead lol). It actually works really good, sometimes I think it's more accurate than a pilot and a stone because you essentially have a "live" pilot system centered with the guide. Good video Brother!

    In the 60's and 70's did valves and seats come from the factory with the three angle or were they pretty much all 45 degree

    Cool! My only question is ,the sandpaper folds over itself and crinkles putting it over the valve like that , could that change the angle of the seat rendering it useless?

      I understand what you’re saying but I didn’t have that issue. It’s important that the adhesive paper lay flat against the surface of the valve so that it cuts the seat clean.
      Cutting the paper disk just large enough to cover the valve head helps with ensuring there isn’t excess paper to form a wrinkle.
      Take a look at my most recent video and you’ll see this very engine running.
      I hope this helps. Thank you!

      Flatheads are forgiving, If it works is it really a bad idea? I was floored to see the results

    how did it hold up?
    having issues with exhaust valve seat rings, lapping not doing enough.

      Worked perfectly on my 39. Runs great. I’ll be test running this engine soon. This method works.

    If you want to get some real hatred...admit to sandblasting carbs - boy howdy.

    • @ChadDrake4185
      @ChadDrake4185  9 місяців тому

      Ha! I hear ya. Is it still “sandblasting” if they are shot with glass bead? 2 of mine were shot with black diamond from Northern Tool. They run fine.

    • @600miles
      @600miles 9 місяців тому

      @@ChadDrake4185 glass beads get stuck side by side in passage ways, 80 mesh sand is easy to wash out and I have literally boiled out carbs on my stove top with dish detergent and carb suspended across a wire.
