    I've beaten this! Watch my new 17:37 run here:
    • SNES Aladdin 100% Spee...
    Speed run of Aladdin (SNES, american NTSC version), done on ZSNES, non-TAS. This run collects all 70 red gems.
    I'm satisfied with this run, especially because I got perfect luck on both Jafaar fights. I lost approximately 8 seconds due to some mistakes, so sub-18 is definitely possible, but hard.

    J'ai fait mieux! Mon nouveau run en 17:37 est ici:
    • SNES Aladdin 100% Spee...

    so nostalgic! i played the shit out of this game when i was a kid. I'm not normally a fan of speedruns but i like this one especially as it doesn't cheapen the game by breaking and glitching through the most of the game, its just an honest run. Good stuff :D

    I love how on the third stage he makes Aladdin dance to the music since the scrolling screen restricts his speed. Or perhaps I'm just making this up and it's just a coincidence.

    Just came from the Genesis version. They're both great games, but this one captures the _joie de vivre_ of the movie a lot better than the Genesis version did.

    Capcom should remaster this game. A lot of people prefer the Genesis/Virgin version, but this one really gets the spirit of the movie much better and has better music.

    You are totally right, I believe my run should have been a few seconds slower on console due to lag in stage 6 and during the final boss fight. That's why I'm not claiming to have a record or anything.
    Actually I had a fairly old computer when I made this run, and even Snes9x did not work too well. Now that I have updated my hardware I'm using BizHawk which is much more reliable for speedrunning. By the way, I might get back to Aladdin some day. :)

    • @LeHulk1
      @LeHulk1  6 років тому

      You just need to jump out of the swinging late enough (when Aladdin's body is completely horizontal), that will give you the correct jump height ;)
      It's difficult though because you only have two tries to get the gem.

      There are all kinds of adapters and converters to make ALL the old systems look great. I don't know if you keep up with the real world, but go look at Game Sack's UA-cam channel and tell me they don't have almost all of their vids for the last few years in 1080p. Pretty much all they do is the old systems, so it can be done and done well. Trust me, the vids you can make with the old systems can come out looking crazy good. Just search it and don't try and tell me you can't make it look good, because that is just foolish.

      I guess I'm just mashing the R button as fast as I can... When I play this game, I change the way I hold the controller so that both my index and middle fingers are on R. Have fun running Aladdin ;)

    • @VideoDamager
      @VideoDamager 7 років тому

    Does colecting ALL red gems any diference?

    • @LeHulk1
      @LeHulk1  6 років тому

      Yes, it makes a small difference at the end. You get the message "You are super player" instead of "You are great player". If you have over 50 red gems (I'm not sure that's the exact number), the ending cutscene is different: you get some gameplay from each world instead of just the flying carpet sequence.

    Both are great platformers but I gotta give the nudge to the Genesis version. With the silky smooth animation and brighter primary colors I always find it a joy to play. I find the controls are slightly more responsive as well but you can’t go wrong with either version. The Genesis Aladdin still looks great in motion even today.

    I've been trying to run this game myself could you please tell me how you (and many runners) have aladdin move so fast! On my emulator the game speed seems drastically slower. Is there a way to fix it

    • @LeHulk1
      @LeHulk1  10 років тому +1

      My first guess is that you are using the European version of the game, which runs at 50fps instead of 60. If so, you'll want to get the American NTSC version. Otherwise, there might be an issue with your emulator. Hope that helped :)

    • @ProjectLyn
      @ProjectLyn 10 років тому

      thx man i appreciate it

    • @MikeyMystery45
      @MikeyMystery45 8 років тому

      It's even more complicated than that. I've never really been able to explain this issue very well but I'll try. With a real SNES controller it's a completely different feel you just can't emulate in my opinion. A Nintendo brand contoller here in the USA like the ones that came with the system were so well made I had trouble ever switching to an aftermarket or anything similar. They had a few brands out there at the time but they were just bulkier and felt different. The texturing on a real controller would slowly smooth out over years and the way you would flex the controller slightly and roll your fingers through A+B or X+Y was just something magical. To this day I've yet to find any controller out there that can emulate the SNES controllers. I think it was the same thing with N64 controllers also. We rarely let anyone else play with our personal controllers back then as kids. You basically had to take care of that controller from the day you got it to the day the control stick no longer would respond and would bascially jiggle itself around.Another issue I've found with emulating the SNES is the fact that we used televisions I just don't have around anymore. We didn't even use RCA's we used RF adapters that usually ran from the back of the Super to the back of a VCR and from the back of the VCR into the back of the TV. There's issues with emualting Frames but not only that but there's input lag plus a 100 different reasons why it's difficult to get even close to the feel of the original. I know this because I've tried for years and I've gotten close but it's just a different expeience in my opinion. I love SNES emulators and I have all the ROMS available so don't get me wrong it's something I do play often but they're two different worlds. I think emulators and ROMS are almost something I just play for Nostalgia. I almost avoid a real SNES because I've got so much love for them I'm scared to wear it out but I'll always pick up a real SNES controller when I see one. That feel is just one of a kind. You'll never reproduce it.That being said I would give some advice. I usually get my hands on a decent USB controller that's styled like a Playstation controller meaning it's got a D-Pad, ABXY or SquareTriangleCircleX and the two joysticks between them. Usually the cheaper the controller the better the D-pad is. Don't ask me why but go the cheapest lowest quality you can find. Then you have to read up on the SNES9X manual and find out how to control the details. I usually try and calibrate the feel on something like SuperMario that you know well or something similar. Once you have the best stable solid feel save your settings and cherish that save file for the configuration. Map your controls the best you can and try not to use the L2 or R2 or if you do use L2 and R2 but don't use L1 or R1. It's mostly a hassle assigning Up-Left, Up-Right, Down-Left, or Down-Right but once you get the inputs setup save those too so you can reassign them cause SNES9X will crash eventually and you'll be back to default settings. This will happen often also I promise you. And then just spend time playing the best system ever made. (if you ask me.) Must play games are Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Aero Fighters, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombats, Donkey Kongs, but I'd say there is about 50 others that I could name also. If you start Chrono Trigger just know you'll never finish it. I promise you. It'll never happen so just know that. The others are pretty awesome and some are tough but all of them are beatable to a point. In my opinion I've always felt there was a lifetime of videogames in the SNES. N64 was cool but I've played nearly every game start to finish. Playstation was cool but I played the shit out of it too. Xbox was cool but the same thing. Xbox 360 is a system that'll last forever. PS2's never lasted becauase the disc drives shit out. Dreamcasts were cool but they had very few titles. PS4 and Xbox one are amazing systems but they're games that are modern. The SNES had so many solid games that will challenge you for years that I just can't compare any other systems to it. They're amazing. Good luck and sorry if I made a huge comment reply. Heed my advice and when you do get your high speed on Aladdin send me a message and let me know. Take it easy mane.
