Finally! What i love about this series is that you actually get to see how much it takes to get a kitchen as beautiful as yours is going to be, but also, that you can o it yourself. it doesn't have to be so expensive and impossible to make something beautiful, and even if it isn't perfect it doesn't matter because you made it so you are proud of it no matter. I can't wait for the rest!
Me and my boyfriend just bought our first home! Watching your videos have given me the confidence to take on some renovations myself! Though our styles differ, you are a huge inspiration to me. The cottage is coming together very nicely!
You are sooo lucky to have such a great mother (and father of cos), who not only shops with you in thrift and flea markets (1st dibs and all 😄), work on the house (and beams!!) with you and can paint so beautifully!!! 💕💕 And the kitchen box windows look so beautiful with the clear glass vase and flowers.... Bellissima!!!
When I heard that you decided to miter the edges of the beams I was so excited cause style looks so clean. As for the safety equipment, working at Home Depot myself, they actually require us to NOT wear gloves when we use the big saws (table saw, miter saw) because there is a chance to of the glove getting caught. You do what makes you feel safe, I just figured I would throw that out cause I don't want you to get hurt.
Yes, this is what I always learned too. Gloves are not safe, they can pull your whole hand up into the blade before you know what's even happening. Please look it up and check me on this, but I believe this is true.
Adding another voice to this one because it's really counterintuitive right up until you see it in action. No gloves on rotational tools. Also no lose clothing, cords from hoodies, hair, jewellery, headphone wires etc. Secure anything that could winch your body toward the blade.
Adding to the thread because I personally know someone who lost two fingers because they wore gloves while working with a table saw. He is 70 years and has been working with power tools his whole life
I am OBSCESSED with this show, the details and love she puts into making this home makes it priceless. I know Romeo tries to stay away to let Macenna do her own thing but don't you just love it when they get all cute together!
Ughhhhhhh THE WINDOWS. They look so perfect. I can’t wait to see them all glossed up. The beams look fantastic already! I can’t wait to see all the cabinets in there and the trim finished omg. You guys are absolutely giving this house the respect, love, and style it deserved. I’m in love
I just bought my first house (build in 1914) and I've now caulked windows by myself, built a sofa table by myself, and plan to build a bathroom hutch, too. All from your badass inspiration! I love the windows here so much, wow. Great job!!!! 😍😍
I'm old enough to be your Nana. I watch you on UA-cam. I'm so proud of you and all you've done to give this house new life. You and Romeo are exceptional people. Bless you
I love the window's and the beams! That deep wood color is magnificent. I can't wait for you to finish the kitchen. It's going to be a speedy job on the living room to get it ready for Christmas decorations but I can't wait!♥️♥️♥️
Your are amazing. You don’t get enough credit, everything you’re doing is so inspiring and you do not all with grace. I know your mom and dad are so proud. Can’t wait to see more.
I watch a lot of interior design/ home DIYers but you are my favorite.. and it’s not only because of your style but the attention to detail that you put into everything. Sometimes I’d watch someone do these kind of stuff and I’ll be thinking that the design and concept was great but poorly executed.. but never with you, MaCenna! Great job always!
McCenna you have more innate gifts and determination than most people because you have a vision. I couldn't do it. When I saw the finished product of the boxed windows I got goosebumps because they are so uniquely done. I don't get goosebumps over much. This is going to be your exquisitely crafted home made with love. BEAUTIFUL!
Those boxed windows turned out AMAZING!! We just bought a home and are already planning renovations. Your videos have always inspired me in the past, but now everything actually feels feasible!!
Details are everything! They really do matter. Sure you could cut corners, and it would look cookie-cutter, but when you respect the history and merge it with the here and now - perfection. It's difference between knowing you can change something out when you get bored with it versus walking into a space and experiencing a feeling that you never want to go away - the thought of changing NEVER comes to mind. The fact that you're showing DIYers that difference is awesome, MaCenna, and because of that I have subscribed to your channel.
I've had a question on the yard that I've been meaning to ask is what you'll be putting down for greenery? Since its not going to be your full time residence would it make sense to do a grass alternative like clover? Or a natural local plant landscape instead of grass which is extremely water and care intensive.
Absolutely Stunning. It’s so wonderful to see you put the character back into your home. So fun to see you, Romeo and your mum working together to work out how to get the job done.
Advice on any future beams you do: use wood glue in addition to brad nails. It will really add strength, so they don’t end up falling on someone’s head one day
This is the episode I’ve been waiting for. Every time I seen the unfinished windows I just couldn’t wait to see them finished. They were everything I thought they’d be. Love them. I’m soooo excited for your kitchen!!
I love milanote! I remember the last time you had them as a sponsor and when I got engaged last month I instantly knew milanote would be perfect for planning the wedding of our dreams! It has been wonderful!
The attention to detail on all the elements that make your home is just delicious 😫 so happy to see this on my feed! Have a lovely week MaCenna & Co. ! 🥰
It’s coming along so beautifully! I feel like between watching yours and Drew’s channels my own style has evolved over the last few years, thank you so much for the inspiration!
MaCenna! in spring, my husband and I bought our first apartment! thank you for giving women so much self-confidence! on the occasion of our anniversary, I asked him if we can buy power tools, and now, to the shock of my brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law and my husband's entire family, I am the boss of renovation! I watched your video during a break from window renovation! but now i'm going back to work! :D
Absolutely beautiful! The windows and beams gives the room such warmth. I'm so anxious to see the next episode yet I'm thinking that with every new episode comes the thought that there will be the last episode. I know you are actively looking for a new house in L.A and secretly hope it's a real fixer upper. LOL
I can’t even describe how much I love the work you are doing! Those windows are STUNNING! The beams just add that perfect touch to tie everything in. You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us!
When you finish your house, you could print all the sketches, inspo pics, plans, budget and what you finally spent, before and after pictures of the whole house, etc., and make a book. You can also add the history of the house, since it was built until you're finished. I have to say, I've never been so invested in a youtube series before lol Love from Spain!! ❤️
I'm feeling a bit dizzy; I was just watching Drew Fox this morning and there you were checking out the new house (and your bedroom!) so I thought ok, nothing new from MaCenna today, but WRONG! Thanks to the magic of modern recording and UA-cam, here you are:) I think the kitchen is and will be absolutely fabulous. I've always love the style of the early 20th century, arts and crafts, all that lovely old wood, and here you are building a dream house fit for the 21st century!
I don't think I've ever commented on one of your videos before. But oh my god! I have loved seeing your beautiful home come together so much! The inspiration you have given me to purchase my own home and make it truly something special is something I haven't felt before and UHH I have no words to describe how seeing this makes me feel!!
I dont know how many more times I will say this before you finish the cottage , but McKenna, you are AMAZING ! Nothing phases you , your work ethic is incredible. Your windows are stunning , enjoy looking out through them my Lovely......great job xxxx
For the wood stain, I would suggest finding someone local who refinishes antique furniture. They will know. I used to know how to create that color with stain but I've forgotten lol. It's also possible to faux paint and recreate that antique heart pine color, using at least three different colors of paint,in layers.
I used the free version of Milanote to plan for my appartement’s furniture and it was really great ! I love that you can link directly the item, it saves so much time
I really love the deep window sill!!!! The wood stain layering is giving me good vibes!!!!! I am watching you in this channel from your LA home doing DIY'S and now I really love the progress your making in the cottage!!!!!! Excited to see more beautiful "things" soon!!!! You really inspired me to make my own channel and share my own craft videos!!!! I am looking forward to your next video next week!!
I wish you could do a q&a with your parents on their parenting style. They have such an amazing relationship with you that I would love pointers for me and my 2year old. Y’all are an inspiration.
This house is so beautiful and your so talented. I have done a lot myself to my house. I’m a painter and gardener and decorator. I can stain too. But I wish I could make cabinets and use a drill and measure like you do. I’m sure your husband loves your talent.💜🌈💜
Beautifuuuuul! Incredible work. And I love that little snippet of conversation at the end between you and your mom: "we don't have the upper body strength like men do. So we have to be smart.... We have a roller. And willpower."
It's impossible not to be emotional while watching this unfold. This is so inspiring and empowering! Your process is so thoughtful, MaCenna. Enjoying all the things so much! Thank you!!!!
The box windows are so gorgeous!! You’ve spoken several times about what you wanted there and I remember you describing them during the build, but I didn’t expect the result to be this stunning. The beams are as if they were always meant to be there…just perfect! Looking forward to seeing more 🤎
Keep in mind with spices, that when they’re exposed to light, natural or electrical, they will lose their potency and color. I have mine on little shelves above our stove and the rich colors fade because of the light above the stove. I’ve been looking for so long for amber colored glass to prevent this but they just don’t make them for typical spice bottles! :(
I grew up watching This Old House and I have always been drawn to home renovation videos. MaCenna I've learned soooooo much from you over the past few months. You're like a Gen Z version of the This Old House show!
You inspire me so much MaCenna!! I've shouted you out on my channel so much bc I want others to know about you!! Currently working on my kitchen and dining room too. So exciting!! Thanks for making me see that we women can do ANYTHING!!
Just an idea, since your windows are so deep You could have also used a staircase plank, instead of that poplar plank for your boxed window “shelf”. It would have had a beautiful bullnose edge instead and they have some really nice hardwood options. It’s beautiful though! I enjoy your content!
I love hearing Romeo working along with you in the background. Even though it’s a home for both of you, the renovation approach is just such YOUR undertaking and he seems so supportive and excited for every stage with you, no matter how long it takes🥰 ugh I just love it
Absolutely stunning MaCenna!! There's nothing you won't try to DIY; in my view, it's all perfection. Too bad "Cottage Living" magazine is no longer published. Your cottage could easily grace the cover and pages. You're my superhero!
I definitely see the cohesive thread running through every room and the special touches. 29 minutes! Wow! I can wait for the other 3-4 videos for the kitchen wrap up! That stove!! The coffee bar the cabinets! Excited!!
I lowkey find it really brave of you to share your moodboards with us. I find it a way too personal thing to show mine to people because it represents the inner workings of my mind and I'm more comfortable keeping it private just for me to see. But I love having a peek at how your mind works and having some insight on the internal theoretical side of your projects before seeing the practical parts of how they unfold
Madonna I know I've told you before but I'm telling you again. You are my spirit animal! I could not be more proud of you if you were my daughter. You are an inspiration not just for women but for sentients in general. Thank you for showing us...yes I can! Blessings to you Romeo, your mom ( whom I love btw) & your dad!💞💞💞
I love absolutely everything you have done with the cottage! It is coming along so beautifully I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WARMTH & all of colors you have chosen are perfection love it all!!!
As a person who has been involved in designing and building 2 homes and remodeling 2 rental properties that window boxing was IMPRESSIVE!! The stain perseverance paid off. Looks beautiful. Old homes were never perfect anyway because most if not all components were handmade, so I think you nailed it. I loved your thinking process. I just kept thinking how the men in my life would have solved this and chuckled out loud. You are ingenious. 😍😍 I’ve followed you for quite a while now and you should be very proud. You’re definitely a creative problem solver.
Omg, those windows are spectacular. They look so high end. I don't believe I've ever seen windows with the window seal as beautiful. I also love the faux ceiling beams. I wish I had those windows in my house.

THIS!!!!! 100% agree!
I can’t believe no one else has mentioned the kitty outside the window in one of the slow motion shots in the beginning. Such a pretty cat!
time stamp?

Me and my boyfriend just bought our first home! Watching your videos have given me the confidence to take on some renovations myself! Though our styles differ, you are a huge inspiration to me. The cottage is coming together very nicely!
Go, girl! 🤍
Thats so exciting!!!!! Congrats & thank you so much!

Bumping this. Commented this before too. A clean cut is better than a mangled hand - speaking as someone who cut off their fingertip.
I am OBSCESSED with this show, the details and love she puts into making this home makes it priceless. I know Romeo tries to stay away to let Macenna do her own thing but don't you just love it when they get all cute together!

It’s crazy how much you’ve learned on this journey. I’m amazed at everything you’ve managed to do by yourself. You are a super woman 💪🏻👩🏼

I love how there's a kitty just casually chilling outside your window!!! Can't wait for the next kitchen episodes it's coming along so beautifully 😍
If I’m excited about these videos I can’t imagine how you must feel to actually be building the house and living through the progress.
I'm old enough to be your Nana. I watch you on UA-cam. I'm so proud of you and all you've done to give this house new life. You and Romeo are exceptional people. Bless you

The boxed windows are beautiful! I’d put small, pretty, thrifted pots with herbs in them on the sill. Great job!
Great idea!💚
That’s a pretty ideal 😍
Maybe my favorite thing besides your gorgeous cottage is watching how much you’ve learned and the confidence you’ve gotten from all your projects!
Ahhh!!! Can’t wait for the rest of the kitchen to come together too!!!
Absolutely beautiful. Love the windows and beams. Your home should be featured in a magazine.
Those boxed windows turned out AMAZING!! We just bought a home and are already planning renovations. Your videos have always inspired me in the past, but now everything actually feels feasible!!

I have watched every episode of this renovation. The love you have put into this home shows. Thank you for each episode!!

Since its not going to be your full time residence would it make sense to do a grass alternative like clover? good question!
I adore the look of clover!
Absolutely Stunning. It’s so wonderful to see you put the character back into your home. So fun to see you, Romeo and your mum working together to work out how to get the job done.
Advice on any future beams you do: use wood glue in addition to brad nails. It will really add strength, so they don’t end up falling on someone’s head one day
Or hopefully some screws here and there
Girl it looks absolutely gorgeous, I was anticipating these windows and totally fulfilled my expectations 🤗💕
awww thank youuuuuu that makes me so happy!
Yes, I feel the exact same way!
This is the episode I’ve been waiting for. Every time I seen the unfinished windows I just couldn’t wait to see them finished. They were everything I thought they’d be. Love them. I’m soooo excited for your kitchen!!

The windows!! The beams!! Oh my....just beautiful. The pretty progress, all the things!!
It’s coming along so beautifully! I feel like between watching yours and Drew’s channels my own style has evolved over the last few years, thank you so much for the inspiration!
Those windows are e v e r y t h i n g!! I love the color of the stain, that you used original pieces of the home, it’s perfection!
Those windows and beams are everything 😍 love how it’s all coming together and you’re staying true to the original house.

Love seeing these little unfinished details get finalized! Absolutely gorgeous!
Love the beams they really just give it all a beautiful look. Windows look amazing!!!
I have to say, I have not missed one episode since I started watching your videos. I love how it's turning out.
Oh that looks SO GREAT!! Yes the wood tones really unify the spaces and gives that nod to the history 🌟❤️🌟
I can’t even describe how much I love the work you are doing! Those windows are STUNNING! The beams just add that perfect touch to tie everything in. You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us!

Woo been waiting for this video!!! So exciting seeing the kitchen coming together so beautifully 😍 💕
I love that your entire family are working to build your dream. 💕
Wow! The windows are wonderful and you made it look easy! Experience is showing😃
I absolutely love this height of the ceilings!- along with everything else.
You are fearless, inspiring and an absolute design genius. You go GOAT!
The window boxes are definitely the best thing you've built so far. Fabulous work!!!
The window boxes are stunning.
MaCenna it looks gorgeous, I can envision the end product and it's going to be so nice to see it all complete and your vision come to life!
This house is so beautiful and your so talented. I have done a lot myself to my house. I’m a painter and gardener and decorator. I can stain too. But I wish I could make cabinets and use a drill and measure like you do. I’m sure your husband loves your talent.💜🌈💜
The kitchen windows and beams are everything! I'm so impressed with how well you recreated the look of the old stain.
That window surround is so beautiful….you have a knack for putting together wood trims that create a vintage classic look that BLOWS ME AWAY………..
Been waiting on this all day. A perfect end to my day! Thanks MaCenna
The beams and windows turned out beautifully!
Make yourself a “T” out of wood to use for supporting items on ceilings. Used for holding drywall on ceiling while nailing in place as an example.
Beautifuuuuul! Incredible work. And I love that little snippet of conversation at the end between you and your mom: "we don't have the upper body strength like men do. So we have to be smart.... We have a roller. And willpower."
The windows turned out beautifully ❤️
It's impossible not to be emotional while watching this unfold. This is so inspiring and empowering! Your process is so thoughtful, MaCenna. Enjoying all the things so much! Thank you!!!!
Yayy I love everything kitchen! I’ve use Milanote for remodeling my house. Actually just thought out using it for potential thumbnails
Girl, did you ever imagine, at the beginning of this project, that you would come away with full-on carpentry skills? You seriously rock!
Beautiful! I’m so impressed with all the DYI you have done on this house!
You have no idea how much I appreciate you explaining Milanote to us. I need this - thank you 😍
Hi MaCenna! Just finished watching you on Drew's channel. So excited to see your vision come to life!!!
Aww thank you so much!
That stain combo matches soo well to the original! glad you found a close enough match in the end! xx
Just an idea, since your windows are so deep You could have also used a staircase plank, instead of that poplar plank for your boxed window “shelf”. It would have had a beautiful bullnose edge instead and they have some really nice hardwood options. It’s beautiful though! I enjoy your content!
Oh my goodness, what a difference trim makes to a space. You did an amazing job on everything. The beams are just what the space needed.
Oh my gosh! That added the perfect warmth and charm that the kitchen needed! Wonderful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The window boxes are LITERALLY PERFECTION!!! When you put that vase with flowers on it I almost cried 🥲
I definitely see the cohesive thread running through every room and the special touches. 29 minutes! Wow! I can wait for the other 3-4 videos for the kitchen wrap up! That stove!! The coffee bar the cabinets! Excited!!
Stunning! Those box windows are gold ❤️

I love absolutely everything you have done with the cottage! It is coming along so beautifully I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE WARMTH & all of colors you have chosen are perfection love it all!!!
