If he does that, he should IMO also gen 1-ify the partner Pikachu and Eevee to truly get a good comparison. What I mean by that is: he should look at the levelsets of partner Pikachu and Eevee and Sun/Moon Pikachu/Eevee (same gen as Let's Go) to see what *new* move(s) they actually got in Let's Go, but then take gen 1 Pikachu/Eevee, take their normal level-up set with the same levels, and only add the new moves at appropriate levels to that set. And of course, the Partner moves should be new TMs obtained at their proper Let's Go location. This way, he'd truly compare regular to Partner, rather than comparing gen 1 to gen 7.
@ I get why he didn’t just because he tries not to mod the game itself and he’d have to add the tutors (which makes the game less Yellow which is against his ethos). I feel like maybe they could’ve been added as level up moves maybe but there’s a lot of ambiguity to that approach as well. I think I remember from his streams it was mentioned that they can only back port like 5 moves or something as well and I believe there are 8? Personally what I’d love to see is just back porting the three elemental ones (because in yellow technically umbreon through Sylveon don’t exist yet) and make them a level up move around level 25 or so (since their tutor is in cerulean)
Awesome runs! Fun to see how better the Let's Go starters are. Also, since the topic of "what animal is Eevee" came up, I'm just gonna copypaste from bulbapedia here: "In the 2018 artbook EVs, Motofumi Fujiwara revealed that the idea for Eevee came from Satoshi Tajiri's request to have a Pokémon that evolves into multiple types. Fujiwara himself designed Eevee as a "blank slate" for its varied Evolutions; as such, while Eevee has traits of foxes, dogs, and cats, it is not based on any specific animal. Fujiwara also envisioned Eevee as a creature that could exist "in people's memories"; namely, vague memories of seeing a cat or dog-like creature that players might have experienced in their childhood."
The best variation I've seen Scott do is, "The first member of the elite 4 is Loreli, and [...]", then the next one is, "The third member of the elite 4 is Agatha, and [...]" Second member? What second member?
On the fourth day of December, Scott's Thoughts gave to me: An OP Eevee in Yellow An OP Pikachu in Yellow A slow level up group ice tree And the slowest hitmon brother
one of the things that makes partner eevee crazy is how insane all its tutorable moves are. you end that game with four of those moves on your eevee and it's probably the most broken starter ever because you're just dropping free light screens attached to psychic, leech seed attached to seed bomb, surf drains, etc. partner eevee with those moves might have topped the tier list lol
I was playing LGEevee while my partner was playing LGPikachu. She straight up didn't believe me that I could teach Eevee a 90 base power, 100% accurate move of *every* type. And I could swap them almost at will. Facing Sabrina? Just teach Eevee Baddie Bad for a 90 power dark move! Time for Lance? Ok, grab Sparkly Swirl for a 90 power fairy move!
@@CEOHankScorpiowhy that’s unbelievable. I’ve also heard they rewrote the EV/IV stat distribution system in that game so it’s possible for every stats to get Maxed!
Definitely a major misplay and something that he will want to improve on. Only thing I will say is that Scott is playing this on 4x game speed and probably mashing the A button because he is trying to get through yet another playthrough in time
Even more so than partner Pikachu, I think a key aspect of partner Eevee this backport misses out on is all the unique moves it also gets in Let's Go which give it so much diverse coverage. HMs alone was sorta of enough to simulate partner Pikachu's coverage options, but I think maybe that even if you weren't going to backport all of the unique new moves from Let's Go, partner Eevee should at least have access to all the TMs it's evolutionary brethren would get, and not just the fire, water, and electric TMs, but also the psychic, grass, and ice ones.
Your 4 lost to Surge with regular eevee was player error. Had you used quick attack on him after he used the X speed you could have knocked out his Raichu.
54:30 I never realized just how well built the champion’s team is. He can poison, paralyze, burn, and sleep you; He can evade tank you with kinesis and recover, drop your special, leech seed you, lower your defense by 2 stages at a time, freeze you, lower your attack, trap you with clamp or firespin, quick attack you, and setup reflect to nerf your damage. Imagine if he setup leech seed, poisoned you, dropped your special, dropped your defense, and trapped you with clamp and firespin all at the same time.
To have Clamp and Fire Spin active at the same time, he would have to have Cloyster and Flareon out at the same time. Yeah, that would be even worse than Tate and Liza.
I also can't help but wonder what the partner Pikachu and Eevee's times would be if the LG move tutor moves were available. Eevee getting Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, and Sizzle Slide at Cerulean would have been crazy.
This video was so interesting to me that I’m leaving another comment! It left me with several thoughts of my own about the strategies you used with Eevee. Potential spoilers below: The only real misplay I saw here was not using Quick Attack against Surge at all in the first solo with default Eevee. Granted, some of the losses wouldn’t have been saved, but Eevee definitely could have won in 4 tries rather than over 10 as it did here. My following thoughts are primarily speculation. While I don’t know for sure that my ideas are necessarily better than your strategies, I think they’re at least worth considering (also they’re all directed at default Eevee): -For the self-destructing Hiker, you could have held onto Growl instead of Sand-Attack for a more bulky approach rather than a lucky one. Rest could especially mesh well with this, but I can also see this approach resulting in resets. -I was very surprised that you never mimicked Psychic against Koga to leverage Eevee’s better Special stat, even in redos. Granted I don’t have damage ranges in front of me, but I feel like it would at least OHKO all three Venonat. If that’s the case, then it would save turns against him and make him more consistent. -For the champion, mimicking Slash is a potential idea I could see working. The immediate concession I will make is that Eevee is not guaranteed to get critical hits when using Slash (it has a bit less than 7/8 odds to score a crit when using it, but that seems good enough for me). However, it’s very likely to save a lot of turns against some of the champ’s Pokemon, like Exeggutor, plus it would have comparable base power to super effective Earthquake when it does crit. (On a slightly related note, Eevee could mimic Slash against rival 6 as well if it were needed). I apologize for how long this comment was, but I had a lot to say and hopefully at least some of it was useful to think about.
Scott has tested growl and sand attack for the self-destructing hiker before, I believe it was with pidgey and spearow. He found at the time sand-attack yielded more consistent results, but given Evee’s better bulk perhaps that was worth exploring. Mimic psychic for Koga is interesting. I would have to check the damage ranges. Slash is sometimes worth it for rival 6, almost never worth it for the champion

25:35 it's actually pretty unlikely for a Pokémon to have no more than 2*their level as HP. And if we rearrange it a bit and input HP=2*Level 2*Level=Level*(2*Base+16)/100+10+Level => Level=10/(1-(2*Base+16)/100) Level=1000/(100-2*Base+16) The lowest Base is Diglett's at Base 10 Level=1000/(100-36)=1000/64 So Level 15 or 16. Depending on some rounding. I want to do this quickly so I won't check precisely. And even the next worst spot Magicarp at Base 20 needs level 22/23 already (ignoring that this should already be a Gyarados by then). Then there are Abra and Magnemite at Base 25 which jumps the level to level 29 or 30. And only afterwards come 6 Pokémon including ghastly at Base 30. And you'd think that's probably just another 7 levels, but no. They'd need to be level 41 or 42 to be at the threshold. Considering the Champ's Ace is at Level 65 you can make an educated guess on the number of Kabuto, Staryu, Krabby, Ghastly, Shellder, Horsea and Rattata you will see at those levels. Just for the fun of it: Dugtrio at Base 35 would need level 71 or 72. Just like Pokémon known for their high HP stat like Onix, Omanyte, Pikachu, Doduo, Ekans and Paras. So there is no trainer who would ever have a Pokémon of that level. So there are infact only 11 kind of Pokémon where this would be possible. In a randomizer setting.
Eevee is based on a combination of fox, dog, cat, _and_ rabbit. I always thought of it as a fox Pokemon. My girlfriend always saw them as cats. It was actually that discussion that caused me to look it up.
@@TheMoogleKing93 None of them are cats, foxes, or rabbits, either. They all have traits of each, some more than others. Some are more fox-like, some more rabbit-like, but all of them have traits of every one.
A video like "I reranked a bunch of pokemon" would be cool for the next year! in this video you would just point out some specific improvements on the run (extra training here, different strat there, better routing) and then tell the new ranking Hope you would do something like that, would be cool
Major Bob is also how Surge is named in German. I for a long time didn't know who this Surge guy was. In essence, he was one of, if not THE first character, that taught me about name changes in localization. The other instance was Satoshi (Ash) because of the Marowak episode (I think its english title was Chilled to the Bone) and the Power of One movie.
Since it's super-easy to change the damage type of struggle to something that isn't resisted by anything, I can't help but wonder what a revisit of "unwinnable thanks to the ghost tower" mon would be like with that version of struggle. Probably still awful, but it might make them able to at least have a shot at winning
It's probably a lot of work to backport them so not something I'd expect but I'm really curious how the partner Pikachu and Eevee would do with their partner moves. Pikachu gets... Zippy Zap: 50 power electric, increased priority and crit rate Splishy Splash: 90 power water with 30% paralysis chance Floaty Fall: 90 power, 95 acc flying with 30% flinch chance Pika Papow: Electric type return that ignores accuracy checks Eevee's moveset is even crazier. Vevee Volley is the same perfect accuracy return 90 base power moves of each Eeveelution type that cure status, restore HP, guaranteed paralyze, guaranteed burn, put up reflect/light screen, setup leech seed, use haze, or cure status.
@@chrisdaignault9845 its a reference to Plato saying that humans are featherless bipeds, and diogenes takes all the feathers out of a chicken, and says "behold, a human!"
The many ranks of the third gym leader: 1) some guy with a raichu: Can be beaten with barely a passing thought. 2) Major Bob: Can potentially cause a reset, but probably not. 3) Lieutenant Surge: Safer to leave him until after Rock Tunnel, then trivial. 4) General Matthew Clements (derived from his Japanese name's etymology): Waited to battle until after Rock Tunnel, somehow still causes problems.
Is there some limitation to the Pokémon showdown simulator? It’s open source so that could be useful for your “gen 1 battle simulator” wishes. Have you seen the Pokémon platinum video where it gets beaten without seeing or hearing. If I’m remembering correctly, the maker of that video was using a simulator to determine the outcome for every possible seed. And now I’m thinking about it, I can’t remember if the Gen 1 trainer battle Royale video was made with a simulator or a lot of emulators. But that could be useful too.
Lol Partner Eevee's extra exclusive tutor moves are great. Veevee Volley, Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, Sizzly Slide, Glitzy Glow, Baddy Bad, Sappy Seed, Freezy Frost, and Sparkly Swirl. Love the names of those moves. they're sooo stupid but cute. One unique overpowered move for each of its evos and itself.
If I remember well, some years ago, pimanrules implemented every trainer AI modification of pokemon red using python in order to make a video where he ranks every NPC of that game after battling each other. Maybe his work might be a good start for such battle simulator
Hey Scott, you don't actually need to simulate using the strategy with repetitions, you can just use the accuracy and various boost numbers to get an exact likelihood of success. Probably wouldn't be that hard to build, you just might need to take another option to work out the impact of certain moves (e.g. reflect, paralysis inducing, sp def drop etc. ) as that could get very messy very quickly. Would be a great tool for optimising runs.
On the 4th day of scott, his thoughts gave us... An eevee that's better than OG A pikachu thats also better than OG A snowy tree And a spinning spinning top mon Oh and for bonus: a punching mon and a kicking mon as well as a game breaking ostrich
Again, a little surprised you didn't add the let's go signature moves. Eevee gets one for each evolution, but even just the 3 gen 1 types gives it water giga drain, thunderbolt with 100% paralyze, and flamethrower with 100% burn.
I think that for Partner Eevee the tutor moves are part of its identity since it gets a move of a type from each of its evolutions. Also, when using the regular eevee and knowing that mega punch and mega kick don't have perfect accuracy, why not use sand-attack against Surge?
Could a kind of short form, update style video work for reranking? Like every half year cover all the new ranks, giving each reranked pokemon about a minute of coverage detailing any notable or new strategies.
No tutor moves? The reason why Let's Go Eevee is so busted is because of it's tutor moves being of every type. That coverage plus the increased stats just made the game suuper easy. Though I guess we wouldn't have much of a 'race' if they were included.
in the surge fight i also noticed iin the pikachu video and this video there were multiple times where u won if u chose quick attack that you would win the fight, but you chose body slam and got outsped
I still think the pokeflute should be fair game in gen 1 runs. It just simulates a turn-1 wakeup in every possible way and gets rid of a little bit of RNG. It has no impact on money routing since it's an infinite use key item and just makes the run less prone to blowing up due to excessively bad luck (looking at you, Exeggutor). Gen 1's unique sleep mechanics should be countered by gen 1's unique answer to them. EDIT: but no Rest cheesing!
Can I also point out the ridiculous reversal of luck you had against Cloyster at around 50 minutes? 3 turns of being fully paralyzed in a row, followed by a 5-turn critical hit Clamp, in between using a Full Restore!
It would be fun to give Magikarp hydro pump, and bounce (which would need added). With its stats i wonder how good it having moves it did learn in other gens or events how it would do
Scott, something came to mind when you mentioned wanting a battle simulator. It was a pretty popular video so you may have seen it, but there is a video of somebody doing an AI tournament of all the trainers in Yellow to see who the strongest was. In that video he created a simulator to pit every AI trainer in the game against each other, and the sim included AI types (like Good AI) to make the sim authentic. Maybe somehow contacting the person who did that video would be a good start. Link to the video: ua-cam.com/video/8yUPhRJtNJM/v-deo.htmlsi=i7F_JDNkyFJRLo-E
Against rival 5's Cloyster in the first run you say that maybe you shouldn't have dropped Double-kick because it's super effective, but it's only 30 base power times 2 hits, so an effective power of 120 when super effective. It's actually weaker than Body slam's 127. The only scenario where Double kick would be better is if it's double super effective (but no Pokémon is double weak to fighting in gen 1) or if Body slam is resisted but Double kick isn't (so basically only rock types, and you've got surf to deal with them). So Body slam was the correct choice, and replacing Double kick with Surf was too!
does Toxic affect the Ghosts (or Agatha)? or is it a "poison poisoning a poison" and doesn't work due to Gen1 also would be interesting to see a comparison between non-partner of Eevee vs non-partner Pikachu, and then their partner variants (rather than just the overall tier list) haven't gotten that far yet, so unsure if it's in the video
If you ever revisited partner Eevee I think it would be interesting (and I would like to see) you giving it a Moves as close as possible to let’s go . Like bubblebeam and psychic sadly there would be no fairy or dark move
Technically isn’t the backport rule no new moves unless they’re signature? Because all of the LGPE moves are considered signature. It was probably something worth addressing, considering these comment sections.
I know this isn't the purpose of your runs but I'd be so interested in seeing a run or two where the AI was changed for major trainers. Like imagine if Surge, Sabrina, and Blaine has AI modification 3 (it'd break some things for sure). Also replace terrible X-items with potions respective to the progress in the playthrough. Imagine Giovanni using Max Potions instead of Guard Spec. and also using them correctly.
OOF. Regular Eevee really had it rough in Gen 1. Nothing but Normal moves for damage... No wonder it was primarily meant to evolve and nothing else. Thank Arceus that its movepool became much more diverse in later generations.
I get why they weren’t but I would love to see a partner eevee run where its stupidly broken moves were backported.
That'll have to be for the LetsGo Eevee vs Pikachu vid in the future XD
Could have just given it the ability to learn TMs of the Grass/Fire/Water/Electric/Ice/Psychic types.
He always says he backports trademark moves, they should have them!
@ I get why he didn’t just because he tries not to mod the game itself and he’d have to add the tutors (which makes the game less Yellow which is against his ethos). I feel like maybe they could’ve been added as level up moves maybe but there’s a lot of ambiguity to that approach as well. HP=((Base+DV)*2 + (sqrt(max(StatExp-1;0))+1)/4) *Level)/100+10+Level

So Level 15 or 16.
I really liked the re-ranking recap videos!
This is the one I was waiting for…
I feel like you’re avoiding blacking out and taking those levels against the rival before misty
Admiral Surge
Comrade sergie
Nice sunny day in Florida playing WOW on my day off and listening to Scotts thoughts
Scott wishes to drive engagement on what species eevee is. I respect it.
Slowbone! Classic
Eevee is based on a combination of fox, dog, cat, _and_ rabbit. I always thought of it as a fox Pokemon. My girlfriend always saw them as cats. It was actually that discussion that caused me to look it up.
I'm guessing your partner also thinks the legendary dogs are cats, right?
NONE OF THEM ARE DOGS
@@TheMoogleKing93 That's... not true
Wasn't expecting rabbit
@@TheMoogleKing93 None of them are cats, foxes, or rabbits, either. They all have traits of each, some more than others. Some are more fox-like, some more rabbit-like, but all of them have traits of every one.
and all is good in the world.
I feel like you could have let partner eevee use fire etc tms to sub for the special partner moves like bouncy bubble.
A video like "I reranked a bunch of pokemon" would be cool for the next year!
in this video you would just point out some specific improvements on the run (extra training here, different strat there, better routing) and then tell the new ranking
Hope you would do something like that, would be cool
Ooh yay! My favorite pokemon! I played Let’s Go Eevee and it was too easy for me but seeing Eevee’s cute face was worth it!
I was so happy with let's go eevee. I remember being irritated that I couldn't start with the Normal type.
It's probably a lot of work to backport them so not something I'd expect but I'm really curious how the partner Pikachu and Eevee would do with their partner moves.
Pikachu gets...
Zippy Zap: 50 power electric, increased priority and crit rate
Splishy Splash: 90 power water with 30% paralysis chance
Floaty Fall: 90 power, 95 acc flying with 30% flinch chance
Pika Papow: Electric type return that ignores accuracy checks
Eevee's moveset is even crazier.
Vevee Volley is the same perfect accuracy return
90 base power moves of each Eeveelution type that cure status, restore HP, guaranteed paralyze, guaranteed burn, put up reflect/light screen, setup leech seed, use haze, or cure status.
You’re the man, Scott
28:25 Eevee is a featherless biped
I assume this is a reference I don’t know, but Eevee is definitely not a biped.
@@chrisdaignault9845 its a reference to Plato saying that humans are featherless bipeds, and diogenes takes all the feathers out of a chicken, and says "behold, a human!"
The many ranks of the third gym leader:
1) some guy with a raichu:
Can be beaten with barely a passing thought.
2) Major Bob:
Can potentially cause a reset, but probably not.
3) Lieutenant Surge:
Safer to leave him until after Rock Tunnel, then trivial.
4) General Matthew Clements (derived from his Japanese name's etymology):
Waited to battle until after Rock Tunnel, somehow still causes problems.
Lt surge: I heard you were talking crap about me, let me show you why I take it easy.
The transition at 20:00 was so smooth!
32:33 Venomoth: "Leech Seed? I mean, I am part Grass, but that's not what I'm doing."
Also "Yeah Boi".
Really disappointed that you didn't add moves mirroring the Eeveelution type tutor moves to the Partner Eevee.
Bouncy Bubble > Bubblebeam
Buzzy Buzz > Thunderwave
Sizzly Slide > Fire spin
Glitzy Glow > Light Screen/Psybeam
Baddy Bad > N/A
Sappy Seed > Leech Seed/Razor Leaf
Freezy Frost > Haze/Aurora Beam
Sparkly Swirl > N/A
Buzzy Buzz is definitely more thunderbolt adjacent. BP being the same as post nerf thunderbolt
I do wish these runs included the extra moves from Let's Go as well. They were wildly powerful, I'm sure they'd be something crazy to compare.
I would love another video where you have like 6 to 8 re-ranks where you quickly just recap them again.
Imagine you're Blaine, you've been doing this for several times longer than this kid has existed, and you get dunked on by one of those goofy moves
If I remember well, some years ago, pimanrules implemented every trainer AI modification of pokemon red using python in order to make a video where he ranks every NPC of that game after battling each other. Maybe his work might be a good start for such battle simulator
🤔 seeing original and partner of both Pikachu and Eevee vs their partner is interesting.
Now I want a “levels of power creep” series. Lets go Pikachu and eevee with their actual busted moves, dugtrio and raichu with its increased stats etc
57:57
I’ve never cheered so hard for Bruno before.
Scott forgets Oak, and Jrose forgets Erica. All is right in the world. Lol
that thumbnail is so good xD
I asked the UA-cam algorithm and neither of us saw Broly you forget about him
On the 4th day of scott, his thoughts gave us...
An eevee that's better than OG
A pikachu thats also better than OG
A snowy tree
And a spinning spinning top mon
Oh and for bonus: a punching mon and a kicking mon as well as a game breaking ostrich
Hey guys, is it just me or is the music very low in this one? For me the video has some stretches of silence whenever the intro of a gym leader plays.
Major Bob? Thats so cute, because thats his german name as well. Also Blain is Pyro, and Giovanni remains as he is.
Siegfried (Lance) fits the Nibelungen Saga at least.
Though I guess we wouldn't have much of a 'race' if they were included.
in the surge fight i also noticed iin the pikachu video and this video
there were multiple times where u won if u chose quick attack that you would win the fight, but you chose body slam and got outsped
We will never see the end of yellow cause Scott is too scared to run weedle
I still think the pokeflute should be fair game in gen 1 runs. It just simulates a turn-1 wakeup in every possible way and gets rid of a little bit of RNG. It has no impact on money routing since it's an infinite use key item and just makes the run less prone to blowing up due to excessively bad luck (looking at you, Exeggutor).
Gen 1's unique sleep mechanics should be countered by gen 1's unique answer to them.
EDIT: but no Rest cheesing!
Partner EEVEE melts my heart 🥺💖
God, could you imagine if the Let's Go moves were backported?
Now it’s time to do Let’s Go Pikachu with OP tutor moves vs. Let’s Go Eevee with OP tutor moves.
I need my floaty fall and baddy bad
Echoing that I'd love to see these too with their tutor moves available as TMs or something, maybe vs each other?
Can I also point out the ridiculous reversal of luck you had against Cloyster at around 50 minutes?
3 turns of being fully paralyzed in a row, followed by a 5-turn critical hit Clamp, in between using a Full Restore!
It would be fun to give Magikarp hydro pump, and bounce (which would need added).
With its stats i wonder how good it having moves it did learn in other gens or events how it would do
Wish I could like the videos more than once.

20:54 two pairs of four Pokémon (2x4). They’re a madrigal!
Petition for Diggersby in Yellow for Easter!!!!
It would be really interesting to see you do a solo run in the Let's Go games
does Toxic affect the Ghosts (or Agatha)? or is it a "poison poisoning a poison" and doesn't work due to Gen1
also would be interesting to see a comparison between non-partner of Eevee vs non-partner Pikachu, and then their partner variants (rather than just the overall tier list)
haven't gotten that far yet, so unsure if it's in the video
I would totally do a PokéSpecial and nickname my own Eevee "Vee".
After the let's go partners, how do gen 7's regional variants do backported to yellow? Most curious about alolan vulpix
If you ever revisited partner Eevee I think it would be interesting (and I would like to see) you giving it a Moves as close as possible to let’s go . Like bubblebeam and psychic sadly there would be no fairy or dark move
Did u use skull bash finally?? Im watching it still and im so eager to find out lol!
Technically isn’t the backport rule no new moves unless they’re signature? Because all of the LGPE moves are considered signature. It was probably something worth addressing, considering these comment sections.
Unknown Japanese animal the creator vaguely remembered from hus childhood. Dog or cat-ish.
I kinda hate the Reflect cuts physical damage in these games, because I'm hardwired on Final Fantasy, where it bounces magic spells back.
Will there be a let's go solo series or brilliant diamond/ shining pearl??
>ugh, domesticated
If OG Vee is gonna throw shade, I wanna look at him and be like, "Yeah, and she's _way_ stronger than you are, Jack..."
Wow.. didn't know you can wake up in the middle of fire spin.
are you ever gonna do another nuzlocke 🥺
Awesome video
I would love to see Eevee and Pikachu using the tutor moves from Let's Go.
They didn't expect you to actually use it, considering evolving it is available in the same town.
