How Russia Lost the Battle for Kyiv’s Hostomel Airport

- HOSTOMEL, UKRAINE - The battle of Hostomel’s airport, also called Antonov Airport, started on the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The airport is situated on the northwestern side of Kyiv, and it is clear that the Russian military saw it as a very strategic asset - a platform it could use to airlift thousands of troops and equipment. From Hostomel, these airlifted forces would be within a stone’s throw of Ukraine’s capital.
First-hand accounts of what happened on that day now explain why Russia could never make use of the airport, and why Russian forces had to retreat from the area after weeks of fighting.

it is quite confusing to understand whom the blue or whom the yellow was supposed to be on that picture.
This is not a real scheme of combat operations. This is illustration that shows... that there were battles in that region (Gostomel, Bucha, Irpin, Borodiyanka...).

What the video doesn’t say is that only after capturing the airport, Russians realized the runway was unusable. Ukrainians left it intentionally damaged.

@@spidersaremean8917 well typically you don’t leave airborne troops unsupported, which the Orc generals 100% did. Overall they just aren’t a very skilled military it seems. Thats likely the reason why Biden and NATO can’t let Russia have even a small victory.
@@barneyleseven2854 The "orc generals" supplied the troops on the airport with helicopters and gave them air support via helicopters (KA-52 and MI-24) and Jets (SU-25)

Its pretty obvious the reason Russia was humiliated so completely was because Ukrainian forces were made aware of Russias attack plan. But hey, i am sure Russia will start doing better soon.
