In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
G’day Justin, thank you for your very informative presentation.Your fantastic product knowledge is clear to see and your opinions are much appreciated.Cheers from Australia.
Hi, Justin! I am late to the dance but this video was fantastic for my situation. You said in the video to post our questions here or in an email, so here I go. One of my HDS12 Gen3 units just failed and I am looking at repair/restore vs. upgrading to a Carbon 12 or 16. Complicated story behind this but suffice to say Lowrance has committed to doing this for me. That being said, what I would LIKE to do, money permitting, is upgrade to an HDS12 LIVE. I can’t afford the 16. This would give me a Carbon and a a Gen3 to put on the console and bow, or the bow and console if that would be better. By better I mean, making use of as much of my legacy equipment as possible, and during legacy stuff that will not work with to is redundant to the Carbon and/or the LIVE. My legacy stuff includes: StructureScan 3D Module with LSS2 Transducer hull mounted and SpotlightScan Transducer mounted on my Ultrex 112; Sonar Hub; SonicHub2; bow-mounted Point1; Navico Sirius Weather Module WM-1 (dysfunctional because I don’t have the box-listed number that lets the SonicHub2 recognize it; it does not pay to throw away packing until everything has been tested on the water!); and Ethernet and NMEA 2000. I am 73 years old, have brain damage, am electronically challenged and this is my last go-round in buying electronics for my 2005 Ranger 520DVX. But I am a serious (sometimes successful) bass angler, for fun and in local tournaments, in the USA and Mexico. In my shoes, what would you do? Go the Carbon route (12 or 16?) or try to put the money together to go HDS Live 12 plus Active Target and the TM-mounted 3:1 Transducer for redundancy? Or take up shuffleboard?
First Russell, Thanks for the great videos. My question is: First can I network my HDS Gen-2 touch units with the new HDS Live unit? Secondly have you herd of any issues when networking the two different units?
good morning, I would like to know if the sidescan scan takes place clearly even at a depth that goes beyond 30 meters, for example 60 meters, I await news thanks
Hi, I am buying a 520L and wondering on the bow if a 16 is better than two 12's? Here's why I ask. With 2d, Side Scan, Down Scan, Mapping, and now Live all up front, is it better to have two screens or just the one. It has been hard to fully examine a 16 since there are so few out in the wild. I have two Gen 3 12's up front now on my old boat but I am curious on your thoughts. I guess while I am at it. Same question for the console. 16 or two 12's. I realize it is a matter of choice, but I guess I am looking for your opinion since I really appreciate your videos and integrity/honestly. Truly the best source on UA-cam!! Thank you!!
I prefer one large 16 upfront and two units on the console. Its more of a personal preference than anything but its what I prefer. We have seen and used the trolling motor. We have been working with lowrance on this for more than a year and a half.
Can you comment on shallow water side scan performance? HB has typically rated much better then lowrance on shallow water side scan (ie 3-5' water - range out to nearly 100ft). Has lowrance made improvements in this area?
Hello guys, Love the videos on your channel. Small question I would like to ask; I have an Elite Ti2 and HDS Live unit. Both came with an AI 3:1 transducer, but I noticed that with my newest one (HDS) has on the label stated it's an AI2 3:1. Both transducers seem also to differ in productnumber. Do you hapen know or these transducers differ (technically/performance) from each other? Currently the older transducer is mounted under my boat.
Thanks Russel! A question you might be able to answer, that I can’t figure out just yet. Is live sight available with all HDS live unit sizes 7, 9, 12, and 16?
Cheers mate from Sydney Australia. My only ? Is if n when minn kota motors can be linked thru lowrance as simrad n lowrance come from the same source one would think it’s possible. Also is the new live transducer big or bulky as my plan is to sit it in my trolling motor. Cheers in advance and great info in this vid.
How similar are the livesight and livescope going to be? Will livesight be actual structure and fish or that crazy blurry view that looks like sound waves? Hope this question makes sense Thanks for all your great videos
@@RussellMarineProductsLLC Do you know if there are any plans to put out a 3D with livescope bundle for the HDS Live 12 units? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Can anyone answer me why the fishfinder can't see files from lake scan? It's about genesiss live files with the gds extension. I have 15 files on the SD card. The fishfinder only shows 1 bathymetry, others don't.
I am wondering about your statement that 3d will need a box. I have talked with two Lowrance factory reps and both told me that Lowrance is coming out with a new 3d single transducer solution that will direct connect to the Live without a box. It was originally supposed to come out after ther 3n1 transducer but has now been put off for release until after the Livesight transducer. Can you confirm one way or the other for sure. I will contact those reps again myself also. Thanks
Looking for advise. I have a Humminbird Helix 5 chirp GPS G2 that came with my boat. The boat has a Mercury 150 (2018) with SmartCraft Technology built in. I want to replace the current fish finder with a new one so that I can take advantage of the Mercury engine SmartCraft features, like troll control. I was considering the Lowrance HD live or Carbon (not sure what size) with 3-1 transducer but I'm not sure if I would need to purchase a Mercury Vessel View link module (~$500.00) to connect the Mercury engine to the NMEA 2000 network, or does the Lowrance come with that built into the device? ANd would I need to remove all the Humminbird wiring or can it be used as part of the new Lowrance setup?
Can you use 3d imaging with livesight if you have the required upgrade and is there a way to run both a forward livesight transducer and a side transducer on the same unit simultaneously
I need some advice, i cant decide between Lowrance HDS 9 Live and Raymarine Axion 9 RV. Whic one can you recommend the best. I want to have 3D Display. I saw your video and i dont understand that what is required to have the 3D display. Thanks for answer.
Lowrance basically it’s a extra computer box and transducer it cost $1000 out side the cost of buying the unit it’s self. Module $600 and transducer like $400 so like a Hds 7 $1300 then another $1000 for the 3D model and transducer.
Adriano Cisternino no not Vessel View Mobile. You need NMEA output SmartCraft gauges like the Vessel View Link or the MercMonitor with NMEA output or the Mercury NMEA gateway box to get Mercury engine data on a Lowrance MFD. As a side note if you go the MercMonitor or Gateway route you only get “basic” Lowrance gauges. VesselView Link is the only one that gives the cooler Mercury display with Troll Control and screens like that.
I see fish on my unit but I cant catch them , same thing happens to me when I see 1000s of ladies all day at Walmart , bank etc. , they just ignore me and I am still single … please ignore this comment

Thank you for making this video. No one else is answering these questions like this. Thank you again!
I hope lowrance pays you very well your vids are hands down the most informative out there and way better than ones lowrance does

Thankyou kindly, and very informative. The sales guy at a shop that sold me this unit didn't know anything.
Nevermind I read previous answers. Thanks a bunch
Very good video, it answered several questions I had.

So I read another comment on price you said $1499 is that the transducer only or does that include module...

Live side, live scope, live 3d, it is future, but when AI 3-1 Down Scan on 800hz will work?
Does the live transducer work with the 3and 1 transducer ? Or does it replace it ?
Thanks!

what is the difference between live sight and fish reveal ?
Extremely helpful keep up the honesty
Great video! Will the HDS Live units connect wirelessly to other Live units in 2019?
geesh could Lowrance make this any more complicated?
Hello guys,
Love the videos on your channel.

Wish y'all would hurry up, before I have to switch to garmin.
Thankyou great information
I’ve heard the live sight will work with Elite Ti 2, is this correct ? Thanks.
My Home lake(Folsom in CA) may fluctuate 50-100 feet. Can the HDS Live 12 adjust lake charts to the actual surface elevation?
hi in 2023 is this unit in 12" still worth buying if we are upgrading from a 10yo Garmin? Can't afford the HDS Pro unfortunately. Thanks.
Absolutely. We are running a special right now on the HDS LIVE 12. You will get a $200 RMP Gift Card with your purchase. Sale ends June 5th
If you have an active image transducer mounted to trolling motor will you be able to add the live sight transducer there when available as well
yes you will
Thank you
Thanks Russel! A question you might be able to answer, that I can’t figure out just yet. Is live sight available with all HDS live unit sizes 7, 9, 12, and 16?
So if I’m running the new Live unit all I need is (for live view)the transducer without the module? Live/transducer and Carbon/module+transducer?
hi i want ask you ,which transducer i have to use for depth fishing 200 - 300 meters on this model hds live 9, can i use transducer 50/200 hdi ?
Will I need to buy a module and the new livesight transducer
So what can I do with my barely used HDS9? None of these "upgrades" work without the new units?
Tag me when they reply on this please.

Have you heard much about the trolling motor coming out this year? Thank you!!
Do you know how much the LIVE SIGHT WILL BE?
Fantastic videos. Does the power cable of a HDs gen 2 work on these units ?
Thanks
Wonder if the bolt holes for the mounting brackets are at least the same from Gen3/Carbon to the Live units.
Does it work to use the Garmin Livescope Transducer that will do both straight down and forward without changing the position with the Lowrance unit?
What are the prices on the new units?
If I buy the 3D transducer, does that replace the HDS 7 Live transducer or will I need both transducers?

Will the Lowrance autopilot work with the HDS Live?
Can you provide any feedback on how the LR1 remote works with the HDS Live units
What is a better side scan image? a)Live unit with 3in1 T/D or b) Live unit with SS 3D module and T/D?
live with 3n1
Will you be able to have livesight on a Elite ti2 unit if you purchase the module and transducer?
No, Carbon models only.

Will the 2 in 1 active work on a Gen 3? I'm thinking of getting the TM 150 and the 2 in 1 Active.
good
Does the new hds 12 live have the 3D structure scan like the carbon?
Not sure of what you say about 3D....
When are we going to get some more ti2 info
Can a Mercury VesselView Mobile Bluetooth module be used to interface with the HDS Live units to provide gauges?

need the 18.3 software to be released first.
@@RussellMarineProductsLLC thank you!
Will the live sight work with Elite TI 2
no it will not.
Will a total scan transducer work on a HDS 7 gen 3 ?
Yes, it should. Most Gen 3 units are shipped with a total scan transducer. I use a total scan transducer on my HDS 9 gen 3 just fine.
can you run the ai 3&1 and the 3d on the same unit.
im about to do the same as you . just confuse whether u can run both 3in 1 and 3 d on the same unit ?
Just shipped a hds live 7 in what do you think the cost of the live sight transducer will be
the LiveSight will be $1499 sir.

“I’m Russell and I’m gonna trash lawrance”
Is it possible to pair the vessel view mobile module(via bluetooth) with an HDS Live unit and read the same data you would have on a mobile device?
