A big thanks Ian. I think you are over half way through my videos now. I do love me the code 3 race cars. I do have another one of these Rovers to do. Thanks for your support 👏👏
I can remember the Rover 3500 launch. I was 13 and totally loved the car. It was like super modern for the time. I went to Donington Park in 1983 where BL was having a promo day. Got to look at the Sanyo Rover SD1 and Metro on display. I got some stickers too! I still love the car. Great job done Andy on this Corgi. I'm impressed with the amount of detail Corgi put into this model. A bugger to take apart but worth the hassle. She looks fab in white.
Andy…another fantastic restoration of such a cool & beautiful cute little car!!! You’ve outdone yourself again!! You’re a truly master restoration artist
I drove one of these before the official Press Launch! PGD444P was the demonstrator we had at the dealership in which I worked. It was registered as soon as we got it, two weeks or so before the launch, with strict instructions from BL to keep it under embargo. Needless to say, our MD had it out straight away, and by a week in, we'd all had a go in it. White with Turmeric, as I remember. It leaked like a sieve - the boot was waterlogged on delivery before the PDI - but it got dried out and perfumed, so it was fine by the time any potential customers got near it. I drove it a week before the Press launch, and was stopped by the local rozzers to ask what it was: "we'll have to get some of these," they said. "Oh, you will!", I responded - as a spotty 20-year old with a smart lip! The rest is history: jam sandwiches all round! They were sublime, though: 70mph at under 2000rpm was unheard of in those days, and they cornered too. A vastly underrated car, those SD1Thirty-Five Hundreds - and you have done it justice, Andy! Sweet as a nut! There were a couple of TWR Unipart cars run here in Dubai, on an International Rally one year - I was a Sector Marshall - and one was run into a sandbank, to go out, instead of being badly placed. Heady days!
Yes I can imagine they are in the USA and the postage from the UK would make them very expensive. If you follow Lazlo Collectibles he brings them over to the USA. Thank you for watching and please subscribe if you have not already. 👍
Thank you for watching Teja. It’s great to know I have a fan in Indonesia. I did enjoy my time working with you and Surya. Stay safe and good luck my friend.👍
Really enjoyable video, Andy. Thanks for advising in the sandpaper for polishing the glasses etc. Do not know how you have steady hands at a temperature of 4C to paint the side window detail.
Very nicely finished. Love the Merc with it. Beautifully crafted fine detail

Tho I confess thee SD1 was my least favourite Rovers (the P6 always the best of them), i don't wanna dis your handiwork, it was a joy to watch
That look's awesome with white paint, details and the decals added. I like it has functional moving parts and looks new now.
Thank you Shawn. 👍
@@andysgaragediecastrestorations Thanks for your video and restored build.
Great looking custom race inspired Rover SD1 3500 👍
Forgotten and underrated springs to mind about the Rover. Let down by poor build quality unfortunately. Thanks for watching 👍 Much appreciated

The real version of this was restored in the mid 90s with its FIA papers. Lovely historic car.👍 Thank you for watching.

Thank you Martin. And back in the early 80s decals were simple.
Hi Andy that is a great job done on that rover , so much detailing done on it too …brilliant, do love the Btcc especially from the 80’s and 90’s

I have had to resort to a fan heater at the coldest times. Then its nearly 6 degrees 😃. You don’t really feel it though until you come inside
i have a purple one same size and a vanden plas real one
That’s excellent. Never been in the real thing. 👍
Were they used as police cars?
Yes.
Yes Julian and there is a Corgi Police car version. 👍
