    I can humbly second all the positive sentiment shared towards you Kirk by all other commentators. You have truly given us confidence in our K series BMW and done the brand a huge favour. I trust Motorrad BMW have let you know same.
    I have a 2004 K1200gt that I've grown to love even more through your calm wisdom shared on these platforms. Thank you sir!

    8 year old vid that keeps giving. TU! Looking for a diy spring compressor and yours looks good. The fact that the springs you installed were heavy duty, high spring rate, convinced me. Watching you crank on the bottle jack left no doubts. hahaha

    That's a fantastic tool. I'm going to build one in the next couple weeks. Harbor Freight, here I come...again. I have a 2000 1150GS and a 2006 1200LT. Your videos have given me so much. I really appreciate it.

    Wow kirk. I've learned a lot from you on all things lt. I just wish I had known about you and your club be for. I currently have an r1100rt, but I do miss our LT. The rt is a 2000. I'll tell you what Kirk, I appreciate the info that you have given me on this bike.
    If I ever get the nerve up to get another one you will be my go to guy ( guru) when it come to the LT. But at 5'6" and 178 I'm not quite sure how I managed to survive the first one. A yarn for another day. In the meantime just a quick thank you and a toast to you for all things LT and to your club.
    Cheers.

    Sweet tool... I did the full change to Öhlins. A lot more but I needed a heavier spring and some height as the stock I was dragging on speed bumps all the time.. With the Öhlins shocks I don't hit them like before.

    I did this upgrade with the HyperPro springs. Fantastic! I had Ohlins on my 06 LT and I can't tell you the difference between Ohlins and just HyperPro springs. BTW, you can send you shocks to HyperPro and they will do the swap out for a reasonable price.

    Kirk Do you ever do work or videos on the K1200 R or S series BMWs? There are NOT that many good DYI or repair videos on the newer K bikes. I use to own an 02 K1200RS before it decided to burn it self up. Now I own a 07 K1200 R. I really enjoy your videos. I am considering up-grading the spring on the 07. Thank You for all that you do.

      Start at the shocks and then adjust the centerstand and side stand to match. Contact Ted Porter at beemershop.com and get his advice.

    I like your tool there but couldn't you do the same with some auto spring compressors?

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  5 років тому

      Maybe, you just have to try. Sometimes Auto Spring compressors are too thick and don't fit in the coils

    I sure don't want my LT raised any higher...60 thousand miles with the original springs... handles just fine.
    If I raised this bike any higher than it is...I wouldn't be able to ride it......

    Yesterday I bought a 2005K 1200 LT Had it in the garage last night just going over it and noticed that it has yellow ohlins Front and rear Did BMW use those in 05 ? Or is that an upgrade that the previous owner put on?

    Hi Kirk!!... I need your help!!!. I have a r1150gs and I tried to do the same but the shock in different. I bought the HP spring and when I tried to install it I found that I need to unscrew the final end of the shock where the H-S bolt is located, all this for get the spring out. I did it so and after few seconds a little dipstick (I think it is the name) went out letting the oil and nitrogen get out. Having say that, please let me know if I'm in trouble or If there exist any way to charge the shock with nitrogen and oil again. Thanks in advance
