    Thanks for the videos they have been a greag help. when I changed out my rear shock, I pulled the battery out so i could get a better angle and more room on the top nut. hope that helps

    This helped me so much, I can't even begin to tell you. I bought a used 2001 one and the shock wouldn't compress. The previous owner told me and gave me a new BMW shock. Put it in and, OMG...ha , it's like a new bike, especially after doing all of your recommendations.

    Added the Ohlins shocks and it added about 1 full inch to the ride. Im not hitting speed bumps as much. (drag on the center stand) Also did the same as you in most of the steps, there is no easy way about it. I also did it with the tank on and the last nut was a pain. I did drop it a few times. Job is done.. Ride is 100% better. I also got a fork with my shocks so I can adjust the height some. Price I paid for both. Less then $1000 new. I got a huge brake as the rear was listed at $940, Fnt at $780. Also at this time you may think about changing the air filter or even the gas filter if needed.

    Forgot If you ride 2up most of the time like I do the low ride will drag some on turns and bumps...

    What source do you use for your parts besides BMW?

    Kirk, your videos are great and have saved me thousands. In fact, maintaining my bike is a new hobby for me thanks to you.
    With 60,000 miles on my 2000 LT, replacing shocks and springs is on the radar for me at the end of this riding season. I'd opt to lower my bike like in this video, so what's involved in adjusting the center stand and side stand?

    Great video! I have a 2005 lt with around 45k. What brand of shock do you recommend for replacement?

      It largely depends on your budget. The best bang for the buck is Hyperpro springs on the oem shocks. Best you can get is a custom set made just for you from either Ohlins or Hyperpro.

    Have you worked on the K1200lt trunk? My mechanism is faulty and needs replacement.

      Mercifully no. This is one I hope to never have to do. But now that I have said that mine will likely break.... :-(

      +Kenneth Henjum Assuming you are referring to the latch, this is one of the first mods I did (and I've done very few). Mine wasn't yet broken so it was pretty simple to do if I remember correctly. I'm a novice with tools.Got my parts here: www.lttrunklatch.com/

    Are all the Hyperpro rear shocks lower than the original ones?

    • @14wntr
      @14wntr 4 роки тому

      no. They should be the same height unless they were made to be lower.
