Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
I loved this video, so many great tips. One for you, seal your solid brass with a clear sealer or it will dull off, my Dad was a metal polisher and worked on lots of antique projects ❤️ thanks for the great video

The handle marks are from the UV rays being blocked and protected the original finish underneath, outside areas are broken down from sunlight/uv.

Omg, this is so classy and stunning! It reminds me of an iron fence with copper peeking through. I don't normally love black furniture we see so much of today but with the Dixie Bell paint and distressing it has so much character. Btw, I think it shows that I watch a lot of your videos when I woke up this morning and realized I had heard the music you used in this video in my dreams, lol

Piece turned out showroom perfect and you have given me ideas on how to make over my mom's antique bedroom suite... It's waterfall honey oak but in excellent condition I could keep the tops with the richer finish and do the body in a 🖤 chalk finish.
Waterfall furniture looks amazing two toned!!! It is probably my favorite look for it, it will look great whatever you decide :)
I've even use just boiling water and vinegar in a bowl on pot metal handles it works well.

Thank you. I have some furniture I want to give attention to. I like the paper that you added to the sides. Very creative. I had a cabinet I ordered, years ago, from an unpainted furniture store. I chose to have it stained and distressed in black. I was just taking a chance. And it turned out to be a beautiful piece of furniture. I was so happy about the color I chose. I read somewhere that every room should have some black touches to it. It compliments whatever you have in the room.

Gorgeous! Pink is my cup of tea,💖. 10years from now we are going to be stripping all the layers of chalk paint from furniture when the trend goes back to natural wood. Ugghh! I hate stripping. But you are ahead of the curve preparing us for that process. As always, you did an amazing job💖💖💖

okay so I live in Germany right now and have lived in Europe for a total of 6.5 years so far, they have painted furniture in the castles that are thousands of years old....I think the styles will change over and over but I hope we don't have to strip all of this furniture or I am going to cry lol 😆 😂

Tomato ketchup works great to clean brass too. Just smear it on, Wait about 10-20 minutes and wipe or rinse off. Amazing results!

Beautiful!! I wish I would have found you before my black dining room table project! Oh dear, what a nightmare...but I haven't given up yet and your tips/tricks for dark paint are my saving grace. The drawer paper idea is genius! One little idea for you - my metal smithing experience would suggest a brass brush for gold or brass or any yellowy metal clean-up. You will be amazed at the difference over steel or aluminum brushes. They're cheap too but generally have to find them on Amazon or jewelers supply. Also seal after cleaning for lasting sheen. You are amazing!

I love this, this is so gorgeous. And I am one who is not a fan of distressing, but I do really like it on this piece. It's just such a beautiful piece of furniture to begin with, and that black with the butta makes it look sophisticated and expensive. I think the wood top, the soft black finish, and the natural color of the pulls brings it together, so the distressing doesn't look chippy or old and worn. I love when pulls are restored to the natural finish. I usually have to paint my drawer pulls, but everything just works for this one. Love it! 🖤

If u get flour and mix it will vinegar to make a paste and then apply it to brass , let it sit for a while and rinse it .. creates miracles!

Yes you can! I would maybe use even the hemp oil on the cabinets because that is an even more tough topcoat and it will be beautiful also :)

Instead of cutting the decoupage paper on the drawer edges, you stick the paper on, let it dry, then take a sanding block and brush the drawer edge in a downward motion with it - holding the block around 45deg angle. Gives a much nicer finish

Lovely and informative video. You are a great teacher. I have an old black piece to fix up so this is really helpful and I think you did just the perfect amount and placement of distressing.. Why do you wait 24 hours after sanding to apply the B.M.B.? I ordered some paper to do on drawer sides---can't hardly wait for it to get here!!

I love black and dark furniture. I know this is against trend. Don't care. I mix black painted and dark wood and love the moodiness of it. My dining table is the same colour combination (table top and rest). Finished piece looks fabulous!

Hi Crys' Dawna, this turned out Amazing!!!!! I have seen this and many of your other videos before. You get the best satin finish I have seen. I use Amy Howard paints and now going to try Dixie Belle. I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets and want a sprayed look. Your method looks like the best option. Do you have any suggestions on the top coat for durability? We do ton of cooking so we need them to hold up.

Tip: when cleaning, use 2 buckets; a rinse bucket [to rinse the dirty rag] and a wash bucket [that has the cleaner] [put ONLY the rinsed, clean rag in the wash bucket] If you rinse the rag in the 'rinse bucket' first, the 'wash bucket' will stay nearly clean for the entire job. This saves on cleaner, especially if you've got a lot to clean.
