    All these comments from these negative naysayers.....you can tell they've never been a kid with the urge to create while not having the means to go out and buy the necessary tools. This is great and an excellent example of limitations increasing creativity. Bravo.

    hello, i use wire that you use to hang clothes to dry, the one reinforced with metal wires inside. i use one of the metal strands inside. works perfectly, you don't have to sacrifice your soldering iron. regards

    Those are not wire cutters, they are flush cutters and you just ruined them by scoring a coat hanger with them.

      That's right guy, you should use wire cutters for this job. Luckily, my coat hanger can be cut with flush cutters without ruining them.

      +Just5mins Is the whole wire hanger not charged now as it appeared that you completed the circuit by connecting to the hanger? what I mean now if you touch the hanger you will get a shock.. or if the hanger accidentally hits metal object it will spark and short out.. no?

      Make sure the wire is your negative. Even if you mess that up, the positive isn't referenced to ground, assuming you are using a USB charge pack, not a USB wall wart.

    Hi, nice video, I tried this, even bought Nichrome wire, its like the 5V is not enough, I did calculations and I should be able to use a 12 inch length, but its like no power is going through the hot wire. Any tips? I am about to make a 115 v system with a down transformer but my calculations say its not necessary. I haven't soldered connections because I am just testing, is it possible the connections are not good enough without solder??

      @jvon3885 2 роки тому

      Ok so you do know that your USB out is DC and is 5v you want to use a 9v battery which is more power than the USB. It's been 3 years since you posted this, I'm hoping you are less "dubious" than at the time of this post. And ignore what the commenter below said, they are even more dubious than you....maybe?

    • @jvon3885
      @jvon3885 2 роки тому

      @@Threewulphmoon hey there guy, I'm hoping no one seen your comment then got their ass killed by thinking AC is safer than DC. I mean I don't know if you were trolling or just didn't realize what you said here. But if anyone reads this they hopefully know that you are full of shite. AC kills you dead. DC does not. You can even use DC in water. Not high voltages but even at 100v I doubt it would kill you unlike AC would send you to the shadow realm. You would be seeing 3 moons and the spirit of wolves past, that's your sure.

    I just made this but it didn't work. The wire turned bright yellow and then back to normal after a second and it couldn't cut through the foam :/

      How much power did you use? Make sure that two terminal of nichrome wire don't touch together. If everything ok, you can try to change the other nichrome wire

      +Just5mins I used a portable charger since I had one lying around.

      I'm afraid that Portable charger is not enough power to supply for this Foam Cutter. You should you charger with 5V and (1~2)A or more :)

      +Just5mins Oh, okay. Thank you. Would it also work if I plugged it into an outlet or would that be dangerous?

      How much power an outlet supply?

    Destroy soldering iron, USB cable, a hard to find heavy gauge wire hanger and never borrow nor lend him, think it's male, unsure from cutout images, never lend anything to him/her... Such waste and how does the whole metal hanger and heating wire work??? They both conduct electricity, one better than the other. Most of those persons incarcerated are much more intelligent than the rest of the humans, just put that intellect to wrong use and got caught, much like this hot wire act. Wink. Hot wire act, hooded while restrained to a wooden chair. Get your mind out of the gutter, it's already standing room only, for this capital punishment, green mile, screw up.

    This is super unsafe, and could end up killing you dont do this people. PS it takes longer then 5 minutes to do what is done here. But regardless dont be stupid enough to try this ever. My dad works with stuff like this all the time and its freakign dangerous.

      IdreamofKPOP Why? 5 Volts cannot even damage a human.

      Nothing stopping someone from using a badly made USB wall wart and end up dead.

      only if they strangle themselves with the cord. You really can't hurt yourself with 5 volts.

      Even if you stick TWO WIRES into a residential wall outlet and grab the wires odds of you ending up dead. Electrocuted? Sure but it's not even that bad, 110 isn't going to kill people in most cases.

      Well, yes, you're right Robert, BUT... what if they strangle themselves with the wire? what then?
