The story i have about this song , is when Toby Keith was with MCA he wanted to do this song but they didn't want him to ,so he left and went to DreamWorks this was his first single , this was his way to get back at his old record company.
This is one of those songs that went mainstream, it wasn't just played on country music radio stations and country channels, but made it to rock stations as well.

And my how do you like me now story is my older sister who told me I would never lose weight now I have and am skinnier than her and she hates it so I am how do you like me now since you said I couldn't do it cause I did it. ( by the way now that our mom passed in 2016 that sister disowned me. Not that I care I don't like snobs anyways) Fun fact about "How do you like me now" did you notice at the end of the song the guitars sound like a kid going nah nah nah nah nah.

One of my favorite parts of this song/video (as a girl from the 60's/70's that was NOT a cheerleader) although cheerleaders of that era were considered to be the "really cool girls" (and many considered THEMSELVES to be really "Hot" just because they were cheerleaders) for the most part cheerleading did not require anywhere near the athleticism that it does now. In the video the cheerleaders that are on the field with Toby (Past and Present) while he is singing really show of the moves that "Hot Girl of 20 years earlier" and her cohorts, couldn't even dream about, even less accomplish. So her come uppance was really on more than one level. I admit, I can be petty some times...but it still feels good. Especially when it is done in such an entertaining way.
Some people are gonna scratch their heads when they read that. *chuckles* I, on the other hand, am right there with ya! LOL
Toby is so much fun! All his songs always playing loud in the bars, everyone singing loudly along… great times! ❤

Home Free's original "Remember My Name" has a similar theme. The radio stations have not picked up on them yet and have not been playing their music. However, the time is coming that if they don't, they will be left behind. When they reach an even bigger audience and become know by a wider number of people, they will remember their name. Considering they have an international fan base of loyal "Home Fries", it's hard to think of them as unknown. Love your reactions and perspectives. I am a fan of Toby Kieth too.

While his songs are amazing to the ear, the humor and the visuals just make a new listener understand this amazing artist SO much more. I’ve watched several of your reviews tonight (I’m sitting in the hospital with my toddler with RSV, and he LOVES Toby Keith). I started hours ago just finding some of his songs on UA-cam to listen to, and my son fell asleep immediately, but then your reviews came up, and I’ve been watching them on and off between sleep and between the nurses coming in to check his vitals. I must say, your reviews have been so much fun, and have made this awful hospital stay a little bit more entertaining, so thank you!

I saw a behind the scene interview about Toby's video experiences, it was quite a string of hilarious moments, mostly blind faith in his director, and hamming for the camera! There were some sad parts too, like I don't think the Mom actress in this video had an easy life.
