This is literally an old Deutsche Welle video from two years ago that they just reposed without attribution. ua-cam.com/video/JsPHKDuP-Hk/v-deo.htmlsi=ezvBGl6nNJXT3muQ
Correct. At one point in this video it says some growth is expected in the Russian economy but alas that's not some growth but lot of growth Russia has seen after 2022 and in terms of PPP Russia is now the fourth largest economy already.
Fascinating analysis of how Soviet legacies still shape modern Russia and its neighbors. While some states like the Baltics successfully pivoted West, others struggle between old ties and new aspirations. What's your take on whether former Soviet states can fully overcome their communist past? Economic data suggests varying results.
"This video is a powerful exploration of history's impact on our present world. 🌍📜 The way you’ve analyzed the end of the USSR and its lasting effects provides so much clarity on complex global dynamics. Thank you for breaking it down so thoughtfully-this is a must-watch for anyone wanting to understand the roots of today’s geopolitical landscape! 🙌✨
Especially considering it’s a video they didn’t even produce that’s already available for free from Deutsche Welle. ua-cam.com/video/JsPHKDuP-Hk/v-deo.htmlsi=ezvBGl6nNJXT3muQ
The dissolution of the ussr was the worlds best chance at a fair world but the world blinked at the chance. The Baltics however shows a collective human success story.

I beg to differ. They were never a superpower. They had 13 times zones of nothing. They hired Italians to build any number of the beautiful buildings in Moscow and St. Petersburg. They're scared poopless of the Fins. They never had a stable government, only as far as propaganda could take them for the last 300 years. We gave them everything but the kitchen sink in WW2 and then they copied it, very badly. They are the original hobbit state. They're military was worthless, even during the Cold War. We just didn't know it. Half their junk doesn't work and the other half is always breaking down. The myth is atrocious. It was a ruse to spend money for the military industrial complex. Ours and theirs. We could outspend them. Sputnik was a gimme. All that could have ended in the 60's but for all the money being spent and fear and control. Crazy crap for sure. Patten was correct. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.
This video is from before 2022. Perspectives would be way harsher and different if it was made today.
Oh, shure. Ancient history, right?
Thats right@@David_Lloyd-Jones

Things have changed considerably in the last 3 years. This video is outdated and irrelevant in 2025.

The U.S.S.R collapsed under its weight and we are still feeling the aftershocks.
What role does the United States play as a better question.
