I actually started sobbing when you were talking about the blur in your vision. Eyesight issues scare me so much, especially since I rely on my vision a lot...be strong ♡
It's great to see another painting of yours, I quite enjoy your pictures on Instagram but I'd much rather watch the process. And sorry to hear about your eye, hopefully there won't be a next time. I hope you have a nice day and thanks for the upload!
My retina tore last year and my right eye went totally blind. Blood flooded my eyeball and the vitreous was totally contaminated. A surgeon insisted I go thru a vitrectomy the very next day. An emergency surgery. He sucked out the vitreous and replaced it with an air bubble. Today, I am able to see again, thank God, and that very capable eye surgeon. I asked the doctor why it happened. He said often it's due to the aging process. Create all you can while you can, people ! Cheers.
Your channel is honestly a blessing. Please keep uploading. Your style really inspires me, specifically to be bold with my colors. I hope your eyes will get better. Thx for the vid!❤
Eye problems are a concern for anyone but even more so for such a talented artist like you. I do hope for our sake as well as yours that your eyesight remains good enough to continue painting these wonderful pieces of art. I've had a sudden onset of extreme blurriness in one eye recently, so I'm taking your wise advice and getting an appointment with the optometrist. Mind you, it still won't make me a good painter, but nevertheless. 😀 Thanks John.
Super sorry to hear about your eye trouble dude! Hope everything stays good, and it doesn't start troubling you again! Amazing painting as usual! You're a master of lighting and textural strokes!
Yeah i've had holes in my retinas since i was 13(2 in my right eye, one in my left). Its a bit scary but i forget it exists sometimes. Its too expensive here to fix but hopefully it wont get too bad. Insurance doesnt cover it because its categorized as a "cosmetic" need.
Thanks for sharing.. always a pleasure. Also seems like you are getting more comfortable with the voice over, and even the story behind your retina tear. Liked the commentary, cheers!
I'm actually willing to pay for getting tutorials from you on patreon, I wish we lived in the same city so I could have you as my teacher if you were OK with that. By the way I'm happy that your procedure went well. Hope you stay well. :)
Hi Tim. I'm using shellac instead. It has the ideal smooth surface for me. Gesso has required a lot of careful application and sanding for me to tolerate its thirsty surface. Plus I don't have to pre-tone my panel to get rid of white when using shellac.
I would honestly love to see a tutorial from your channel! I would appreciate it a lot! Here are some tutorial suggestions: - How to make skin tones with watercolours/acrylic/oil paint - How to paint hair - How to paint eyes - How to paint lips Well, you get the idea, I am in need to know how to basically paint the entire face. But mainly in need of how to do skin tones, if you could do this I will be thankful!
I am so sorry John! I was wondering why you are not posting anything for quite some times on UA-cam and Patreon. I learn alot from your demos. Please get well soon ♡♡♡
To bad all that happened to you! What you gonna do? One foot in front of the other right? Keep moving forward!! I had a major stroke last august so I kinda sorta know what you're going through! I am also having seizure's! I gotta learn to live with some weird shit, also! Gotta keep going though!! I got one good arm and hand at least! its all I need, to paint, thank God,!!! Hey, thanks for doing all these great videos! I'm learning from you! God Bless you! And thanks again! See ya! Oh, sorry I just couldn't resist! Forgive me if that hurt or offended you in any way! I don't mean to be cruel! I blame it on the stroke, I think it made me a little bit retarded, more than I already was, its like terrets only different!!! It seems I have no filter any more! Its probably gonna get my ass kicked or gunned down someday though! Some people can be overly sensitive and psychotic! OK BYEE! HAPPY PAINTING! I STRUGGLE WITH VALUES AND HOW THEY WORK IN PORTRAITS!! Have you done any studies/tutorials' on values in painting?
I'm sorry that happened to you. I can't think of any tutorials I've done on values, but I did have a quick vid of a (mostly)grayscale painting a little while back. Generally, I try to focus on 3 -5 values, and try to not overblend.

My father also has this medical condition ... I can understand the pain and stress.... especially for an artist ... Wish you health and happiness.
I am so sorry for your eye problems! That is awful for anyone to go through.
I am glad your eyes are better now ..art is dependent on good eye sight and we need you to teach us ..your help is appreciated

Yes, it is very expensive without insurance here. That's really ridiculous to categorize it cosmetic when no one can even see your retinas.
that's what you get for looking at art so great every day!
I really like what I would call a landscape style of block in you started with on this painting
Get well soon!
It's always a pleasure to see your process. Take care and I hope you get better.
It is hard to hear this. Glad you have recovered and wishing you health.
Sorry you had to go through that! But I'm glad you're feeling better 💖 love your channel
I'm so in love with your portraits. I've learned a lot from watching your demos. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing.. always a pleasure. Also seems like you are getting more comfortable with the voice over, and even the story behind your retina tear. Liked the commentary, cheers!
You know how to see. You teach us to see differently. And you see what is invisible to the eye but still very real.
So sorry John!! I hope you're ok. Love your paintings man!
Sorry to hear what happened to you.i really admire your work. And your videos are so aesthetic they calm my anxiety.

Apologies if you’ve answered this already, and I missed it. Why don’t you use gesso on your painting surface?

LarrivaArt That makes perfect sense. I’ll give it a try. Thank you!

Ilove your art .and I hope your eye gets well ...noor from iraq
How long did that take to dry
Funny! Eye gore! 😅👏👏
damn technology has evolved so much.
what were the symptoms for your stretched retina?
For me, I had flashes at the edge of my vision. This went on for years. When it tore, it was like a little bite was taken out, then flickering there.
How did you got your Retina tored in the first place?
I'm severely nearsighted which means my eyeballs are stretched which means my retinas are also stretched and thin. They just are starting to tear.
@@LarrivaArt Oh no! I didn't knew such thing existed. I hope you get better soon. Best wishes dude.
Was waiting for you to fix that nose. Wonder why you didn't.
