James Pepper Kentucky's Finest Oak (KFO) series rye whiskey is my absolute favorite! Plus their distillery is more like an entertainment district and is a blast to visit. Cheers to ya!
Cheers Doc, I have a simple syrup I have been making not with Demerara but another dark cane sugar and you are 100 percent right. It really brings out those dark Caramel sweet notes of the Bourbon. I make mine similar but with .5 oz of ss and 2 oz of bourbon. Great video.
Excellent! I love trying an old fashioned different ways. I may start a series on the quest for the best old fashioned. starting with sugars. what do you think? cheers
@@OldFashionedWays I think that would be a great idea, there are so many options. I have been using Turbinado sugar for my SS. I just grabbed the bag and looked. Makes a great old fashioned.
I love the Old Fashion with Sugar cube , Is so different when you use Simple syrup, Always is good try different ways to prepare your OldFashion. Great Video!
I use a Rye with a watered down simple syrup (50%), 1 splash of orange bitters, and three of regular bitters along with a marchino cherry and some crushed ice.
Interesting! I’m in a phase of loving single malt scot neat! Lagavulin 16 in a Rusty Nail is spectacular!! Check out the latest Lagavulin Offerman series Edition 4 with rum cashing! I am in love with Lagavulin smoke and this expression is delicious! You had asked for a suggestion to try! The new Laphroaig 10 #16 is 58 proof and fabulous! The 2023 Lagavulin 12 is wonderful! Ardbeg is amazing! The Coreyvreckan is wonderful! You do have to enjoy smoke!
thanks for the list. I will have to try a few. I have had the offerman and was extreme smoke to me, but that was years ago. so may need to try again and see what my palate thinks now. thanks for sharing. cheers
@@OldFashionedWays Our palettes changes for sure! I'd try Craigellachie 13! Fabulous. No smoke. Delicious Speyside scotch! It might be more attractive for your pallette! Talisker 10 is well worth trying. It has much less smoke - only 20ppm for peat smoke. Lagavulin is the same but does taste more smoky although I adore that! Cheers!
Love these experiments 👌
@@StevetheBartender_ thanks. I am thinking of really going down this rabbit hole.
Always a fun experiment when you can enjoy the results

Great video. I like turbinado simple syrup. It's kind of in between the demerara and plain SS. Sometimes I will use a dark maple syrup.
yes that makes a good simple syrup. I may start a quest for the best old fashioned and start off by testing sugars. what do you think?
@@OldFashionedWays that sounds like a good place to start
