Today we're making one of my favorites, the Boulevardier! Many think of this drink as a cold weather variation on the Negroni with rich bourbon replacing the gin. However they're both about the same age. The Boulevardier was actually in print before the Negroni (though the Negroni's believed to have been created before we see first print). Anyway, over the years, ratios of the Boulevardier have changed to favor the bourbon for a more balanced drink. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do! Cheers!

To the bar! Cheers.
If you ever do a Bali Bali of one of these I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Boulevardier has been one of my favorites for years. I just keep coming back to it. It was my gateway to negroni and Campari in general, as beforehand I didn't like Campari much. Now i can quite happilly consume a shakardo.
I love you too.
I'd like to get a shirt, but $29 for shipping is atrocious. There has to be a cheaper way to ship one shirt.
yes, i’m here for it 🙌🏼 thank you!
Native French speaker here. Your pronunciation is good for Boulevardier.
Merci beaucoup
Personally I don’t think he had enough onions around his neck or a cigarette so not quite the perfect pronunciation
Hard P on the ‘beaucoup’ I hope
Love the drink, hope to make it soon! As for your merchandise, what about stickers with your logo?
“It’s tasty, it’s good, yummy, yummy, try it.” Best review ever.
Great recommendation, Anders. This is one of my favorite cocktails as you can drink it in colder weather - or all year long... I like the 2:1:1 build. People may even want to try something along the lines of 2 oz. of bourbon, 1.5 oz. of good sweet vermouth and 3/4 oz. of Campari in the Boulevardier (this is especially true for the Negroni as the Campari can overwhelm the other ingredients). I like the Boulevardier with an orange peel and a large ice cube in an Old Fashioned glass. The Punt e Mes recommendation from you guys is something I have to try-thanks. Great channel!
Instant classic episode for me, Boulevardier is one of my absolute favorites! I have tried this many different ways and my take aways are: 2:1:1 is superior than equal parts; flamed orange oil is superior than regular expressed one. Also, I would suggest trying it with Punt e Mes, it makes a wonderful Boulevardier! Cheers Anders and Az, been waiting for that episode for a while now, and you didn't disappoint! 🥂
Will give it a try with Punt e Mes! Cheers!
I accidentally tried it with Punt e Mes recently and you are correct, it's a great alternative.
@@AndersErickson I think you will love it, its dark and rich, just perfect with flamed orange oil and a good bourbon
I’ve gotta try this. The only boulevardier I’ve made and really enjoyed was with some cask-strength bourbon a friend gave me.
@@rivernet62 I love subbing in Punt E Mes! Rare Breed bourbon with some spice is nice! Cheers! 🙂
Honestly you and Az are the only youtubers I actually buy merch from but I never regret it! Looking forward to the next art bundles
Perfection in a glass! Negronis in the warmer weather & this is so good during colder months! Thank you!!
This has been my go-to cocktail ever since a Las Vegas bartender introduced me to it, but his variation adds chocolate bitters. Today I found out that variation has the name “Left Hand”. 🖐️
Thankyou so much for making this channel. Perfect tone and skills. So much so, we are introducing some classics to our menu in our restaurant in rural South Africa. The best cocktail resource.
Those prints are amazing!!! Excellent work. I can’t wait to see the other bundles.
Yes, yes, yes! This remains my favorite cocktail and your recipe is my "go to" choice. Thanks for spotlighting it on your channel. I think I'll have one after my turkey dinner.🍗
Loving the prints! 😍
I was just about to say I think you've made it before on your channel. But I couldn't agree more this cocktail deserves its own spotlight. Also those are really beautiful art prints and shirts. Shout out to Az for her great photography work. Keep up the great work Anders!!
P.S. I think every episode should end with your behind the scenes outtakes.
Thank you so much - will pass the photo compliment to Az. Cheers
The art work looks amazing and I love the new merch 🥰
Thanks so much!
We've made this several times now including at a party last night. Love it. Thank you for all the great videos!
I love a Negroni, but I think of them as a summer drink. Now I want this as the winter version, can't wait to make one.
For a lighter summertime version of the Boulevardier, try an Old Pal, which is a simple substitution of a good dry vermouth for the sweet vermouth in a standard Boulevardier build.
Thanks for finally covering my favourite cocktail! I love you
Can’t wait to try this. Thanks Anders and Az…❤❤
Hey Anders. I live in France, and can tell you that your pronunciation is pretty much spot on. (Sorry if someone else has already commented on this.) Thanks so much for your work, and thanks for inspiring me to start up my very tiny cocktail bar.
We love you and Az too. 😉💜🍸
Great video! This is one of my very favourite cocktails. And this version is the best, cheers!
I appreciate this channel. The Boulevardier is one of my all time favorite bar orders. Love the merch drop!!!
I never find this at bars but the moment I had it the first time I loved it!
One of my favorites. Thanks!
Love the Boulevardier. Absolutely one of my top 3 cocktails.
Thanks! Love it!
Awesome artwork. So cool you’re offering it.
Gosh, 476k subs! I remember when you had only a few hundred. Always delights me. Congrats!
Love it!
I'm here, thanks you two.
I had my first Boulevardier at Starbuck Reserve Arriviamo Bar in Chicago. Thier version is poured through coffee grounds. They then add Lavender Bitters to the glass for your to smell first before pouring and it was freaking amazing!!
The Boulevardier is one of my goto cocktails! Great episode!!
More eye candy and she has good commentary! I'm learning so much now. The next time I go out I can order something more than Coke and Rum.
I love this drink :) And I loved that you made a video just for it!! Not just on a list :)
Amazing cocktails
had my first one the other day, I was planning to do an old pal, but I didn’t have any dry vermouth. So glad I made this one instead, it’s way better better!
My favorite cocktail. Love your vids. ❤
Thanks Anders!! Another one saved in my Cocktails folder !!!
The Boulevardier is my go to cocktail. And one I judge any new bar I try by.
One of my favourite cocktails!
One of my favorite cocktails of all time
I used to steer clear of Campari, but (thanks to your videos) I've started to enjoy it more, so yay! Just happened to order this the other night and then you dropped this video...so I made another for myself! Cheers!
Those cocktail posters are actually super neat-o.
this is my favorite cocktail by a mile
Served up! Veeeerrry intriguing!
Loooove the merch! ❤
And the cocktail too
Well done.
The Boulevardier is easily my favorite drink
This video made me realize I am out of campari and what I am drinking tomorrow! Great vid as always
LOVE it!
This is fantastic. Im a bourbon lover, and I was looking for ways to keep the bourbon forward but shift from the old fashioned all the time. This has a great balance, which surprised me (though it shouldnt cause Anders rocks) as sweet vermouth tends to overpower drinks I have had with it, like the Manhattan.
Enjoyed this cocktail at Yvonne’s while in Boston.
Love it.
absolutely love the cocktail prints, going to have to pick some up, excited to see the other two sets!
the queen's park swizzle is such a gorgeous drink
Bought a shirt! I love the color and design on the back. Please consider creating a zip up sweatshirt with the same design as the new shirt. I love the hoodies, but I’m partial to zip ups. Idk why, but please please please think about it 😄🫶🏻🥰
Also, so happy to see the Boulevardier have its own video. Cheers & Happy Thanksgiving! I’m very thankful for all you two do! 🥃🍽️🍗🍂🍁🧡💛🤎
Been waiting for this one!!!! One of my favorite drinks. I make it all the time, but always wanted to hear your ratios. I'm a 2:1:1 guy as well. Cheers! Time to make a boulevardier! Oh...and I always serve on a clear rock :)
Had never tried a Boulavardier before. It’s now a new fav. Thanks for the video.
Probably the best cocktail in the world ❤
This is one of my go-to cocktails! I just taught it to the bartender here in Veracruz, MX
I'm going to make this for Christmas 🎄
That is one of my go to cocktails
I am going to try the flamed orange on my next Boulevardier. It is one of my favorites. I also like the variation called the Smoking Hand with a little Islay scotch and chocolate bitters in it. Complex doesn't even begin to describe all the layers of flavor.
This is my go to cocktail when I go out
Good stuff!
Excellent cocktail. Enjoyed it more as the drink went on.
I pretty much like anything that has Campari in it. A Boulevardier is one of my favorites. I like your takes on different drinks and keep up the good work, you two!
The boulevardier is one of my go-tos! I love them!
One of my go to christmas drink
The absolute best bourbon cocktail in my opinion!!
I make this with Nonino Quintessentia Amaro b/c I find Campari too bitter though I had an excellent one in Italy made with Campari. But everything taste better in Italy I use 1.5 oz of bourbon, and 1 oz of Amaro & vermouth. I pour it over a big square ice cube instead of straight up. Will try your recipe which probably mellows the forwardness of the Campari when it's 3/4 oz. Thanks
I’ve been waiting for this one! Not a negroni fan but someone introduced me to this and now it’s a guilty pleasure.
I’d love to see a holiday gift guide for the home bartender, with ideas at different price points 🤞
It’s a small thing but I always love your choice of lo-fi background music. I have some of the same music in my work playlist. So calming
The Boulevardier is my favorite cocktail which I order more than any other. My wife likes the Negroni so we have the same drink just switching out the spirit.
Definitely one of my winter go-to drinks. I use a 2/1/1 ratio as well. Got a black hoodie last year and it's amazing... Cheers!
Love the bloopers at the end as well!👍🤣Great and informative channel, thanks!
My favorite!!
One of my favorites! Love it when Oz chines in.
Pairs nicely with a quality cigar
Another favorite of mine, thanks for a great video.
Happy weekend
One of my very favorites
I put a couple of dashes of cacao bitters in mine. My go-to drink before dinner
SUCH a good cocktail! 😋👍
a favourite for sure
I'd been thinking about how I hadn't had a Boulevardier in a while, and this video reminded me to have one. It's a great drink. Thanks!
Im hosting a cocktail party thanksgiving evening and this was on the menu. The timing of your video must be a sign 🍷
Just found the channel... loving it! Started with best value bourbons, then the alcohol free bourbons, now just hoping around! Thanks for all the inspirations!
2 great humans. To the bar!
Great video as always! I have been subbing the Campari for Select Aperitivo recently and have been in love. I feel like it is a bit easier for guests to drink who don't quite like any heavy bitterness.
Great tip. It’s a bit too bitter for me as well. Will give this a try.
Boulevardier is actually one of my favorite drinks! Been bartending for 4 years now and there's no doubt in my mind, after many (MANY!) drinks made that the Boulevardier is the 1st in my books. Never gets old.
Cheers!
Hi Anders…I’m no Boulevardiar either, but you are an ace for preparing and presenting such a beautiful drink and great history!!!….love your art work- - spectacular!!!….love the drink, but I think I would prefer it on the rocks! Enjoy your weekend and as always “CHEERS”🥃🥃😁❤️😁❤️
Great on the rocks too. Thank you so much and have a great weekend!
The Boulevardier was my introduction to Campari - just an absolutely delicious showcase for the complex bitterness. It's amazing that such an old, simple drink can be so good.
The simple classics are my favorites. Cheers
Infuse the Campari with some cocoa nibs. One of my favorites!
One of my first bourbon fancy drinks!
I just made one and having it with a cigar. OMG. Old Fashioned is my favourite BUT this one might actually be edging it out!! Your amounts are perfectly balanced. Just excellent!
My 2 favorite cocktails are Negroni's and Old Fashions but I've never tried one of these before. Lookin forward in giving this shot.
I don't think I've had an Old Fashioned since trying the Boulevardier
Pretty color! Especially while being stirred on the rocks. That Pousse Cafe art reminded me of my bartending days around 1976. We prayed no one would order one because none of us bartenders could layer worth a damn!
Ooh my daughter in London would love your new art pics
Never been a big friend of Campari, but this is just my style and has just exactly the right balance between the ingredients. Just love it! FIRST TIME EVER I did the 🍊Orange Oil fire blast trick... 🔥wow, I am so proud I managed it 😝 - because of your instructions! Used Elijah Craig Bourbon, Campari of course, and Starlino Sweet Vermouth di Torino... so good.
I made these for New Year's last year. Big hit.
This is by far my favorite drink! I learned about it on a previous video and have been drinking it ever since. Have only been to one establishment that knew it by name - everywhere else it’s a Negroni but with bourbon. I’ll have to start specifying the rations next. Thank you for the experience.
It's my favorite go-to drink.
Love it with Aperol, too.
