Extint species would actually be the perfect opportunity to do something more than "Wyvern Rex is a super Tigrex". Rex wouldn't be just Tigrex's ancestor but also other monsters like Nargacuga and Barioth. Maybe the ancient species could combine elements of all their future selves. Wyvern Rex could charge like Tigrex but also tail slam like Nargacuga and jump on walls like Barioth Ancient Rathalos could be a mix of Rathalos and Rathian and even combine elements from their many other forms Ancient Yian kut ku would also be ancient Yian garuga and maybe take from Gypseros since they're similar You can see the idea of ancient version of monsters makes a lot of happy sparks in my brain
Candles burning, music playing, you and the Black Flame all alone. The door opens and Hollow and Cotton come in flick on the lights and say Josh what the hell are you doing!
Honestly this may be a unpopular opinion, But I actually really hope the blackflame isn't a extinct species and just a regular apex of the region. Also I think would make arkveld more of a stand-out flagship, but this is just me.
I find it funny that when we picture ancient species, we think velociraptor to chicken, rather then small rodent like creature to lion or elephant. If there are other ancient species then Arkvelt, imagine if they would be weaker then the base species. Like what if Wyvern rex is just a 3 Star monster and be the size of a Great Girros or Great Baggi, therefore earlier/ easier hunt then Tigrex, but is then used like an introduction to ancient species.
Take this with a grain of salt, but I think wyvern rex is larger than tigrex. There's also some crazy descriptions in the fan wiki, but it's a freaking fan wiki, probably not true.
Having been (unfortunately) exposed to some leaks regarding wilds, and if true, it's pretty fun seeing people's speculations and theories, and how completely speculative or how scarily accurate they get
@godly_potatoe69xd19 (maybe kinda spoilers in big quotations, nothing concrete so you can check or not if you choose) . . . . . . . There's obviously gonna be a new type of engame monsters, like your tempered or afflicted monsters for 5th gen, and while they're not gonna be you're wyvern rex levels of fresh new hunts, some points given by josh there could be somewhat relatively accurate as to what they would be like, while, also, not on point either
@ alright thanks for the update, I also hear we’re getting a trailer this week, another at game awards, and a final one in January (which is probably accurate since we’ve had one every month since August) so ig we’ll have to see
Adding off the hallow earth theory, what id the giant upside down arch we keep seeing in the game ( which seems like a focal point ) is made from a monster that digs its way up. we have seen Kulve make giant holes, something along a dalamadur size could easily go back and forth. What id dala we know is just a baby lol. Idk, but that could truly be the future and keeping things fresh.
i have 2 ideas for an extinct species for the Raths. the first one is the Prototype Wyvern from MH1's concept art. it's basically a quadrupedal version of the Raths, with traits from both - and poison breath, as the notes read (but let's change it to fire to give it another similarity to the Raths). another idea is Unknown from Frontier. he could finally have a proper name, and maybe even a title. Wilds is an opportunity for him to officially be part of the mainline games alongside Lavasioth and (most notably) Espinas. either one would work. in case someone still doesn't think "reskin" subspecies should come back, let me reiterate what i've said in the "no new subspecies & more extinct species" video, then repeat my examples: have the "reskin" subspecies specialize in whatever trait they have; and also have that trait affect their behaviour in multiple ways. now, for the examples. example 1: Azure Rathalos. stays in the air more than base Rathalos? it's somewhat there in World, but he stands to learn a few new tricks. he's got Silver Rathalos' charged fireball from WorldBorne on top of being more airborne, there's that. he could be more acrobatic in the air, with tighter turns and quicker movement. because of his superior flying skills (compared to base Rathalos, of course), have him dominate almost every other flying monster in the game in aerial turf wars; he could even give Rey Dau trouble, despite the weakness to Thunder. he also could be a more proficient fire-breather. remember Rathalos from the 2020 movie? (bear with me, here) this is what i mean: have him breathe fire, as in ACTUAL streams of fire. a stationary forward blast like Anjanath, a sweeping stream like Alatreon, airborne versions of those attacks, a midair strafe. have his lungs be so well-developed that his fire travels further as a result. make him smart enough to use his fire breath to burn the grass of the Windward Plains and trap Ceratonoth and Dalthydon - and the hunter. and have him perch on an outcrop or broken tree and bombard you with fireballs - though he wouldn't do it for long. example 2: Pink Rathian. her colour doesn't grant her camouflage, therefore making her more aggressive, right? let's also make her smarter. if Pink Rathian's going be aggressive to make up for her lack of camouflage, then she's going to need those battle smarts. give her more tail attacks, instead of making her spam backflips. something like a simple swipe - no, not the "turning tail swipe" from Gens 1 through 4 - and she could thrust her tail, use the spikes to stab enemies. hell, she could use her increased battle intelligence to parry attacks with her tail. because of her colour, she would also be selective with nests, preferring more secluded ones. this is how i'd overhaul "reskin" subspecies like Azure and Pink: give them new tricks by using what they already have. and give them a different behaviour based on those attacks, like Azure's "perch & snipe", as well as a different behaviour based on how the subspecies' trait affects it, like Pink's colour.
There is a leak that says we're getting a trailer for the ice area this week. I don't know how reliable it is of course, but imagine Wyvern Rex walking around there as the apex. It would make the wait for the game 10x harder.
@godly_potatoe69xd19 Maybe it's true. I would be surprised if we didn't get anything at the game awards and the one in january is probably the launch trailer.
@@Neos4500 something to note is that we actually have had a trailer every month since august (flagship trailer in September, beta and oilwell trailer in october) and since this new one is supposed to reveal ice locale and the last one is supposed to reveal the final locale, it makes a lot of sense. They have a monthly marketing cycle so far and thanksgiving and the game awards are major times to drop trailers just like they did for Halloween.
Yes extinct or ancient monsters would be so good ever since I saw that video of the generations of monsters Ive wanted a whole game of them in it. Imagine an ancient anjanath that’s spiky and way more aggressive and has a poisonous bite but also the flame breath still thats sounds awesome.I know Espanas is a thing but I’m just brain storming
Just thinking on an Ancient Rath, Raths prime their breath attacks like they're spiting fire so its entirely possible before being a stream of flames this used to be a more volatile and unwieldy spit attack. Raths still use fireballs capable of stunning as their big attacks and Dreadking wields the explosive power with its flamesac, key difference being Ancient Rath would lack proper fire attacks. It could even have a heavier build or just be a pseudo wyvern most similar to Barioth.
I feel like an Ancient Rathalos (at least a between step) would just be Razewing Rathalos, which is literally the only spin-off based sub/rare species of Monater I want to see in the mainline, and having a Rathalos soar through the sky in the initial trailer kinda had me thinking there might be a possibility there. Especially if the Forbidden Lands contains species of Monsters we either haven't seen or saw only in spin-off titles.
I could be insane but from the way our character said "extinct species!?!" it feels like they are introducing us to more than one, or a new class. And btw I think rey dau is the moder version of arvale because the first time I saw im I was like that looks so much like Ray dau in the frame of his body, and I still think that
I like to think the extinct species that are in wilds are just around the world in a very isolated/undiscovered areas like how we find ancient or extinct species living today in the real world and mh wilds maps are those isolated areas that the guild haven’t found yet
The ancients told tales of a silent predator. One whose hide was said to be the most impervious material ever known. Neither the jaws of a savage deviljho nor the blast of a raging brachydios would leave even a scratch. Not even the breath of Fatalis could sear its skin. Despite its immaculate defense, it had no means of attack. This creature had no breath, no fangs, or even arms or legs. Yet these legends speak of it being an apex above all. "How?" you may ask. IT WAS FREAKING DELICIOUS! Monster and man alike could not help but fall victim to its siren song of an aroma. Its scent was sweeter than that of any fruit you could dream up. Just the tiniest whiff would put any monster into a trance. They'd feel a hunger that a thousand year starvation couldnt match. A hunger that would override all other senses. So much so that many would shatter their teeth and crack their maws just trying to break its impervious shell. Inevitably they would perish from a combination of starvation and sleep deprivation. Fear not the chains of the White Wraith nor the embers of the Black Flame, hunter. Fear the true danger that is the intoxicating aroma of the immortal Gray Gourd.
I want it to be something crazy like Arkveld is an ancient man made wyvern the kids village used to fight off the Apex monsters but went crazy and had to be chained up.
extinct species doesn't really fit the bill for a replacement for tempered/afflicted monsters, because then every species would have to get an extinct species and that would double or half the size of the roster depending on how you look at it and I find that difficult to see capcom doing
Rather than having a game where the present us find somewhere with ancient creatures I think it would be better if they take the Farcry primal route; Instead of the past reaching the present what if we’re the ones going to the past, ancient hunters and wyverians before the guild was invented.
Given the leaks im pretty sure josh is just talking about the leaks as if they are his predictions. We now know there is a complete designation for extinct species versions of even normal monsters like doshaguma.
@emperortethysusdacertified8175 go watch rathalos watch video on the datamined leaks. Theres specifically a section talking about the designation of extinct species "versions" of regular monsters. Josh has also made theory vids that mention multiple monsters that were confirmed from the leaks.
Just give us more new monsters plz extinct species how cool this is probably the lands were all monsters come from but I get what your saying it does sound cool as hell there is so much they could do here and I'm so excited I'm losing my mind thinking about playing this again 😢
The earliest leaks maybe, but I don't think he's seen the really in-depth ones. [Light Spoilers below] I still can't believe we went from "Hey look it's Gypceros in the files" to the whole bloody story getting released into the _wild,_ heh.
At this point I just hope for more brute wyverns I feel we have so many unique monsters in the other categories but the brutes haven't really had a big jump if we got an ancient version of brachy or duramboros or even the pickle that would give the brutes a much needed kick to compare to all these new ones we have
The only shame that should be felt is for predictability. It's tentacles so... Hey, congalala is getting a rework so green could get an even bigger rework to make him awesome. The attempt at scene painting broke his brain, good that he caught himself. 6:28 Oh Gog no, a deer with antlers, where all the points end in eyes. Please no! That would be so creepy! I'm begging that we have a more creative endgamy system for amping up monsters. they kind of peaked wit hthe first one, having frnezy. Not just add a status/damage buff, but also a speed modifier and altered sound design. Then the apexes kind of ruined it, with the temporary buff mechanic where you either have this up or you may as well not even bother attacking the monster until you do have the buff off cooldown. It's kind of a bad habit, lately, nergi also had a bunch of wannabe flagships after him taking his gimmick and not doing it as well. Those 3 were fine but in now world should all 3 have been flagships. Especially not back to back after nergi, without a break from the shared gimmick. I also really hope that they don't use extinct species as an excuse to not give us more out there things in future games. The black flame being extinct is no excuse for like spending 10 years without giving us something else of his shape.
What if you come across a remnant still thriving ancient wyvarian settlement since you always see tower and castle ruins an active lost city with their technology might be a easy way to introduce "lost" weapon types
But extinct species isn’t a species. It doesn’t showcase a common physical or evolutionary characteristics between all creatures in that category much like other ones such as brute wyverns all coming from a common ancestor and having distinct physical characteristics that place them in the category. Also isn’t Arkveld a THOUGHT to be extinct species. It can’t be an extinct species if there’s ones that are actually alive.
Josh unknowingly gave capcom the entire premise for MH wilds lmao. Also spoiler: The datamine shows several extinct species variants of returning monsters, Rathalos being one of them 😂 man he really hit it on the head with this one. The others are an anjanath and an ebogaron for returning. There are 3-4 others with the extinct tag in code but the monster ID doesn’t match any known monsters for those.
Josh you haven't made your once-per-monster-hunter-game-cycle talk on the equal dragon weapon; are you okay? (Equal dragon weapon would be a really cool endgame for Wilds if the ruins in the scarlet forest are actually ancient civilisation)
I think extinct species are kinda a stretch cause the black flame isn’t really confirmed to be one. If it is mb but I think we might see something more like blood bath diablos than ancient species. But will they introduce new monsters that were believed to be extinct and not be an ancestor of any monster maybe? Cause monsters will always adapt and evolve. Who knows though until we get it am I right? Also the monster hunter planet could be massively bigger than earth and that’s why many cultures and tribes are so vastly different in every game being more primitive in older games to a bit more advanced now. Hope we don’t go into a multiverse monster hunter though.
If extinct elder dragons are a thing in this game I wonder what prehistoric valstrax would look like would it have the jet wings or regular wings and there are six circles in the logo if you count them as areas then there is an extra area which could be a area with extinct monsters
What if The Black Flame IS the ancestral predecessor to Nakarkos??? I know octopus to cuddlefish is a stretch but those tentacles screamed Nakarkos to me when I first watched that trailer
Warning possible spoilers for MH Wilds, read at your own risk. I saw a video a few weeks ago that was looking at a "leak" saying that there will be ancient species still alive and are the ancestors of some of the monsters in wilds. I only remember them saying that Doshaguma will be getting one.
For future reference, don’t share anything that could even be related to a leak unless someone specifically says they want to hear it, even if you think it’s not true. People don’t want to be spoiled.
I'm excited to see cotton's reaction to all this but when they get to the black flame I see A LOT of uncomfortable conversations about him because Josh's obsession
It sounds like they may pull what they did with seregios in MH4U, but instead of them being driven out and fleeing their hiding spot, we're gonna be the invaders.
Here’s a question . What if all of the monsters in this game are exstinct ancestors of modern monsters . And by that I mean the endemic wildlife . What if thsee big bad monsters are Infact the monsters that cane before the exstinct ones and the exsisct ones are the endemic wildlife and small monsters that are the ancestors of modern day monsters . I mean just think about it the small wild life bears an uncanny resemblance to the monsters we all know Infact we couid so as far and say that all small monsters are the exstinct ansectors of the monsters we know and that this place in wilds is like skull island and that it’s the last strong hold of theses monsters and that the smaller monsters and endemic wildlife are the ones that all other monsters evolved from and by that we could say that these monsters from old games are invasive species that got here throw unknown means . And in that manner remember we washed up on shore here and have no idea who we got here earth . So what if this hole game is like dinotopia and we are seeing prehistoric monsters that still hold on to this day with varying little in the way of outside species and the ones we know are not native like the monkey and rathalos are the invaders . We could be looking at a dinotopia amd we are the outsiders that have just arrived here .
So ya want a monster that looks like how it was before...... It's original appearance before the sudden change in evolution... A origin species if you will....
we technicly have seen the potential of anchient ancestral species before in frontier origin species gravios and origin species rajang the more reasonable one being gravios id love to see that done now in wilds because the way they would fight would be nuts the origin pseudo wyvern species could feature traits from all its modern kin and i think that the pseudo wyvern origin species has the biggest potential threat level and having the biggest potential move pool. and the most agressive nature to boot id love to see the prehistoric versions of the things we know
PAUSE am i missing something Is sky blue sharpness back? like we had the sharpness and the traditional blue and I know it's HDR but that supports my argument even more, IS THAT SKY BLUE FROM FRONTIER!?
I'm not too excited about Wilds tbh. Some of the graphics look really good and some look worse Rise (which is portable). Playing the beta felt too much like an MMO and the only thing I liked about it was the Music. I'm not gonna get my hopes up or pre order it. I'm gonna wait a while and see.
this is the healthy(healthier) kind of sexualization. if its against things that are never (if ur not mentall sick) actually be able to be a sexual/romantic obsession. I write this bc i know alot of people who are pushed away from the horendous and sad stuff said about Gemma. this also includes me, as i will not watch proob if josh sexualizes humanoid characters, like he did in the one blindfolded cotton episode. ik that it is an easy way to get views but it hurts alot of people. people who are extremely uncomfortable if sexualization of humanoids happens. these people cant interact comfortably with alot of communities and it would be a shame if monster hunter turns even more into that disgusting direction.
To those saying extinct is a dumb name, no you are dumb for not understanding a simple concept. They are “believed to be extinct”. It’s like encountering a dinosaur that was living in caves in the Amazon or something. Meaning they are so extremely rare everyone thought they died out.
Arkveld is a manmade dragon by the ancients made with the power of dragon torch him and others more are just in deep slumber and keepers are the one in charge watching over this sleeping weapons called guardians they are made to combat elders
Well much like the coelacanth was assumed extinct, it could just be a title to describe species that for along time where thought be dead. Only to be proven wrong.
I mean we have everything leaked , the full storyline, the monster roster, nearly all weapons and armor with pictures, all locals and there is nothing about extinct species

THERES NO LAWS AGAINST THE MONSTERS BATMAN
No Josh, you have a point. Ever since I saw the flagship, I thought it looked like Gore. so I believe he is a thought be extinct species of Gore.

9:01- I'd hunt a Sabertooth Rathalos.
honestly this is what i thought you were talking about last time, it's a lot more exciting of a concept
i have 2 ideas for an extinct species for the Raths.
the first one is the Prototype Wyvern from MH1's concept art. it's basically a quadrupedal version of the Raths, with traits from both - and poison breath, as the notes read (but let's change it to fire to give it another similarity to the Raths).

either one would work.
in case someone still doesn't think "reskin" subspecies should come back, let me reiterate what i've said in the "no new subspecies & more extinct species" video, then repeat my examples: have the "reskin" subspecies specialize in whatever trait they have; and also have that trait affect their behaviour in multiple ways.
now, for the examples.
example 1: Azure Rathalos.
stays in the air more than base Rathalos? it's somewhat there in World, but he stands to learn a few new tricks. he's got Silver Rathalos' charged fireball from WorldBorne on top of being more airborne, there's that.

make him smart enough to use his fire breath to burn the grass of the Windward Plains and trap Ceratonoth and Dalthydon - and the hunter.
and have him perch on an outcrop or broken tree and bombard you with fireballs - though he wouldn't do it for long.
example 2: Pink Rathian.
her colour doesn't grant her camouflage, therefore making her more aggressive, right? let's also make her smarter. if Pink Rathian's going be aggressive to make up for her lack of camouflage, then she's going to need those battle smarts.
give her more tail attacks, instead of making her spam backflips. something like a simple swipe - no, not the "turning tail swipe" from Gens 1 through 4 - and she could thrust her tail, use the spikes to stab enemies. hell, she could use her increased battle intelligence to parry attacks with her tail.
because of her colour, she would also be selective with nests, preferring more secluded ones.
this is how i'd overhaul "reskin" subspecies like Azure and Pink: give them new tricks by using what they already have. and give them a different behaviour based on those attacks, like Azure's "perch & snipe", as well as a different behaviour based on how the subspecies' trait affects it, like Pink's colour.

So I'm still dreading the octopus fight the moment they showed it. Let's be real it's going to be tough adjusting to the new fights and their limbs
What if you come across a remnant still thriving ancient wyvarian settlement since you always see tower and castle ruins an active lost city with their technology might be a easy way to introduce "lost" weapon types
so you want Capcom to Pokemon S/V endgame it with prehistoric and future versions of monsters known and unknown.... yeah, I would be down for that.
This idea is wonderful I would like to see this as the DLC and master rank stuff
They can bring SOMTHING really ancient like narwhal the wing serpent/thunder so I’m not too surprised if they do bring a elder dragon there
0:09 for a second i thought cotton was gonna pop in and be like "JOSHUA" lol
who's gonna pop out? you forgot to add their name.
@jacktheomnithere2127 I'm actually super embarrassed lmao
Josh unknowingly gave capcom the entire premise for MH wilds lmao.
Also spoiler:
The datamine shows several extinct species variants of returning monsters, Rathalos being one of them 😂 man he really hit it on the head with this one.
It would be crazy if we got a prehistoric guiding lands in the expansion
If extinct elder dragons are a thing in this game I wonder what prehistoric valstrax would look like would it have the jet wings or regular wings and there are six circles in the logo if you count them as areas then there is an extra area which could be a area with extinct monsters
I think this can be categorized as withdrawal symptoms.
This man is just mentioning MH frontier and it’s ancient spices lineup 😂
Very original
@dragonflyer4656 maybe I should have started with a warning
@@EdgarCastillo-c6j That would work too lol. You’re good
I'm excited to see cotton's reaction to all this but when they get to the black flame I see A LOT of uncomfortable conversations about him because Josh's obsession
Intro had me choking on smoke lol.
It sounds like they may pull what they did with seregios in MH4U, but instead of them being driven out and fleeing their hiding spot, we're gonna be the invaders.
You can feel the desperation to get back to playing this game and his voice. The withdrawal has set in and everyone is suffering.
Whats the release date again ?
If I'm creating a game, I'm totally looking at videos like that for ideas.
Brachydios: “HOW COULD YOU!!!”
I’ll be okay with calling them ‘extinct species’ as long as we learn and understand WHY THEY ARE EXTINCT. And I don’t mean something hand-wavy.
we technicly have seen the potential of anchient ancestral species before
in frontier origin species gravios
and origin species rajang
the more reasonable one being gravios
id love to see that done now in wilds because the way they would fight would be nuts
the origin pseudo wyvern species could feature traits from all its modern kin
and i think that the pseudo wyvern origin species has the biggest potential threat level and having the biggest potential move pool.
and the most agressive nature to boot
id love to see the prehistoric versions of the things we know
dinosaur version of tigrex? Its already a dinosaur, what more do you want?
PAUSE am i missing something Is sky blue sharpness back? like we had the sharpness and the traditional blue and I know it's HDR but that supports my argument even more, IS THAT SKY BLUE FROM FRONTIER!?
Hmm. Seems to align with the data mine we have so far.
what if the new rathalos, isnt a new rath. but its the ??? wyvern, and it gets finally classed the Ancient Rathalos???
I wonder what other extinc monsters can return.
Ancient Deviljho... please
I'm not too excited about Wilds tbh. Some of the graphics look really good and some look worse Rise (which is portable). Playing the beta felt too much like an MMO and the only thing I liked about it was the Music. I'm not gonna get my hopes up or pre order it. I'm gonna wait a while and see.
or the oposite we have seen the velociraptors it's time we see the chickens
Unfortunately leaks have put all theories to bed :(
this is the healthy(healthier) kind of sexualization. if its against things that are never (if ur not mentall sick) actually be able to be a sexual/romantic obsession. I write this bc i know alot of people who are pushed away from the horendous and sad stuff said about Gemma. this also includes me, as i will not watch proob if josh sexualizes humanoid characters, like he did in the one blindfolded cotton episode. ik that it is an easy way to get views but it hurts alot of people. people who are extremely uncomfortable if sexualization of humanoids happens. these people cant interact comfortably with alot of communities and it would be a shame if monster hunter turns even more into that disgusting direction.
maybe we will get Origin Species?
i would play MONSTER HUNTER THE LOST WORLD
The forbidden land to the people that live there are normal for them, what if the true forbidden lands where the ancient live. DLC
It's happening, that's all imma say
Ah yes, past paradox monsters 😆
I WANT AGNAKTOR BACK.
MHFU LETS FUCKIN GOOOO
Ooooh, That's Fuckin Fun.
God I hope they do that
Amazing Idea
I could happen
I would rather have black flame was a ??? monster
he's seen the leaks
we are getting a new weapon
*nah this is wild*
Josh are cheating on Brachydious
*Me who has seen all the leaks*
Is this theory or data?
Its josh preparing to say "I WAS RIGHT!!!!!" when we see the second or third extinct species
This is theory
@@ivorynargieA GAME THEORY
@@alexciesielski1840 this is based of actual leaks disguised as theories
To those saying extinct is a dumb name, no you are dumb for not understanding a simple concept. They are “believed to be extinct”.
It’s like encountering a dinosaur that was living in caves in the Amazon or something. Meaning they are so extremely rare everyone thought they died out.
Tf😮
Arkveld is a manmade dragon by the ancients made with the power of dragon torch him and others more are just in deep slumber and keepers are the one in charge watching over this sleeping weapons called guardians they are made to combat elders
Wow you did not hold back huh xD.
Love this extinct speacies nonsense. If it was extinct.. its gone. They arent. Its a dumb title for a variant of monster.
@@ligaar0849 reason why it would fit perfectly
Well much like the coelacanth was assumed extinct, it could just be a title to describe species that for along time where thought be dead. Only to be proven wrong.
Who pissed in your Cheerios, kid?
The datamine confirms its not extinct! These Monsters are called guardians and have nothing to Do with extinct😂
I mean we have everything leaked , the full storyline, the monster roster, nearly all weapons and armor with pictures, all locals and there is nothing about extinct species
Monster hunter Underworld sequel confirmed ..?
