Thank you so so so much for the work that you’re doing. I’m flying to Kazakhstan in less than 4 months to meet my husband’s family, who speaks zero English. BREAKDOWN OF TEXT
1.
В детстве [V detstve]=In childhood/during childhood
It means when I was young.

Честно говоря[chestna gavarya]=honestly speaking

Means honestly or frankly speaking. In English we just say : “Honestly” or to be honest.

Нa самом деле[na samom dele]=in fact, actually

Is very similar to “honestly” but it means “in actuality, in fact”.
The more literal meaning would be, when you want to be open and honest about something.

В принципе[V printsipe]=Overall, in general

This phrase is used a lot in Russian speech.

Я никогда не думал= I never thought
YA nikagda ne dumal

The meaning of:
I never thought that something will happen, that I will have my own business.
It was like a childhood dream, but I never thought it will become reality.

Delat' fso vazmozhnaye
Я делал всё что я мог= I did everything I could
Ya delal vso chto ya mog
Meaning: to do everything possible in order to achieve a goal{e.g. becoming a businessman}. In English you would say: To do all you can within your power.

Выполнять функцию=to perform a function/a task
Vypolnyat' funktsiyu
To fulfil a role, or complete a task. For example, you have a function within a business/a company, where each person has their own task or responsibility.
And in order to fulfil that responsibility each person in the team has to perform their task.

Why is Никому я не отдам(I won't give it to anyone) placed in the word order that it is.
Никому я не отдам = не отдам я никому = Не отдам никому я = никому не отдам я.
just within the free word order, you emphasize the last word in the phrase.
