Beautiful city. Ive been 3 times and i originally went as a smoker but on my last visit i was more into the fiod and sights but if i didnt have 5 children i would relocate from the uk to Amsterdam for a better life. The place is stunning and the buildings and historical background make it the perfect location for couples to visit

Amazing! You’re gonna have the best time. Boerejongens is a good place to hit up, we liked sharing the red velvet cake😏. That sandwich was crazy, so much good food there, have fun!
Thanks so much! It means the world to us. We can’t wait to go back and explore more of the Netherlands, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks again

😂 you know what’s crazy is lamacun is really hard to find in the United States and when it is offered, it is a very expensive novelty instead of a cheap on the go snack! We are visiting Germany very soon and we found some places that serve it we will be sure to check it out and do a comparison!
Thank you so so much! Kind words like this keep us motivated to keep going to new places and sharing our adventures on UA-cam. Thanks again, have an incredible dsy
Another top tip if you're outside the tourist areas is a Kapsalon from kebab places. Basically an aluminium tray with a layer of chips (fries), covered with kebab meat, covered with melted cheese, and then topped with salad and garlic sauce & sambal. Also any generic Turkish bakery will sell great lamacun and borek (pastries) for a couple of Euros. There's a good one on Kinkerstraat which is just a hatch on the street. Finally HEMA, the department store. Unfortunately they have stopped doing the 2 Euro breakfasts now (until 2015 it was just 1 Euro) but still they are cheap for drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and the best of all their rookworst.
That sounds freaking incredible! We have something similar in San Diego but it’s with Mexican Carne Asada on french fries and it’s one of our favorite things to eat! We will be sure to seek it out the next time we’re in the Netherlands and thank you for the cheap breakfast recommendation, we will do that as well. This was such a helpful comment. Thank you so much for leaving it. See you next time from Japan!

Lahmacun are not actually Turkish pizza but something that is unique to Turkish cuisine. That honour goes to what is known as pide which are boat shaped with a bready base. These are not served rolled but are cut into slices and are pretty substantial as a meal. Despite being a staple Lahmacun took some hunting down in Istanbul this year but something to look for on my Dutch trip next year.

Ahhh spot on!!! Good call! We don’t have anything that simple in America so it really stood out. It was cool because we had been there before but had no idea where it was!
Sheesh 6 ekky for a turkish pizza.. ngl they shouldn't be more than 4, but they seem like a real nice place with good marketing so well done on them. Thanks for the video and don't tell me you're so happy go lucky eating without a wake and bake in the city.
Amazing, thank you kindly for the recommendation. The next time we visit we promise to explore more cities and try some unique Dutch dishes! Thanks a million for watching!
This was only our second time having it and we do remember liking it more than the first time we tried it so who knows maybe three or four more times will be hooked like you!
As being a local from Amsterdam myself, my advise for buying fastfood for toerists is: Skip the Febo's fastfood stores (with their venting machines), and go for the lokal snackbars or the one's at lokal markets. Febo is really very overrated as it comes to the taste of their products.
Heard the sandwiches great! I guess we will never find out. At 5:55 in the video. Smoked crispy bacon sandwich. Monday, March 10, 2024 at 5:11 PM we walked in the door to be greeted by a dour faced clerk, sorting wine bottles, who told us that the store was closed, in spite of the fact the door was wide open, and the Internet said they didn’t close until six. I pointed the closing time out to her, and she grudgingly said she might be able to take care of us if we could wait 15 minutes. I was so stunned by her rudeness and lack of customer service that initially I agreed. After a couple of minutes, though we decided to go someplace where we did not have to beg them to take our money, and who could provide service with a smile - something this woman is obviously incapable of doing.
Oh no I’m so sorry! It’s a shame that you had an experience like this. We’re glad you decided to take your buisness elsewhere, sometimes it’s better than to suffer through a less than ideal situation. We had a good experience there but there are many times in our travels places don’t make our videos because of similar circumstances. Thanks for watching our video and for the thoughtful comment! When in doubt there’s always a FEBO that will always be waiting for you😂. Have an awesome trip and a great day!
Yessssss!!! PREEEACH! We snuck in some of that stuff also but mostly because the canal tour had an all you can drink option and you were able to bring food on😂 we road it back to back😂
I see you did not get out of the toerist streets. You have already been there a couple of times. Go a little outside of these streets and there is much more goodness to Explore. The food you chose are probably the best you can find in those streets. So you did good.
Yes we were kind of around the same area. Let us know any recommendations of cool things or delicious eats we can find outside of the tourist zone and we promise to go further out next time! Thanks a million for watching!
Still unnecessary flash, but I like the choice of location. I'm a cook myself, I would not ever use flash period when filming food but that's just my opinion. Natural lighting can be very important.
No e were there in December. It is chilly but we only had a hoodie and a light puffer jacket and we were fine. There wasn’t too much rain or wind so it wasn’t too bad, and the views keep you distracted with all the beautiful things to look at! Thanks for watching, hope you have a great trip!
Albert Cuyp is not the largest market in the Netherlands. That would be the Haagse markt in Den Haag. I live just around the corner. I believe it’s even the largest market in Europe. It’s amazing.
Ahh we weren’t able to visit there on our trip! We desperately want to see more of the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam, we promise to return! Thanks a million for watching and commenting!
@HeresGoodTravel Automats started around the late 1800s in Getmany. In the US, the most famous one was called Horn and Hard art. They are places that serve cooked food from vending machines. They went out of fashion in the US around 1960s. I still can't wait to try FEBO when we go later this year.
how did you purchase the FEBO items? did you use a credit card? or Euros? it looked like people held a card over a detector of sorts. Would like to know- we may try when my family and I visit Amsterdam. TY ahead.
Yes! We just tapped our credit card on the item and it popped open. There is also a walk up counter that prepares the food, you can also order there and pay cash if you need to! Hope this helps, have fun!
Home sweet home just lift NL last week, wen to my brother in friesland 6days,my best friend live in enchede 7days,my cousin live in Rotterdam 6days,after I hap on the tgv to Belgium copel of days and wen to Paris for copel of days that was my Europe trip every 2years I go home miss is all ready 😢
I could totally see that. We actually felt the same about it the first time we visited. We like staying away from the city center but we’re lucky it wasn’t too crowded this visit. Let us know where you think we should go on our next visit, thanks.
Hey, the herring you ate was not pickled, they are technically raw and have been brined for some time. Try a pickled herring next time, they're good too.
Wow, that’s crazy. We didn’t know that they had two different varieties! It’s very pungent definitely not something that we were very used to, but we will be sure when we return to try both varieties. Thank you so much for the helpful tip.
Oh no! Thank you so much for this update. We are so sad to hear this! Was it family related or did it have something to do with the economy! We are devestaded!
Thanks for the comment! The majority of our viewers are American travelers so we use USD most often. At the time this video was made the euro to usd was exactly the same
Bummer! It’s worth a stop next trip for sure. We don’t have anything like it back in San Diego, at least we haven’t found it yet! Thanks for watching and commenting🤙
@@boazd8622 I live in Belgium, 5 mintues from the Dutch border and 15 minutes from the German border ( stores) and take the train 5 times a year to Paris. From al these countries, Dutch bread ( 95 % comes from factories, chain) has the worst quality. Baked air. It's like saying to a Belgian, Heiniken is good beer.
@@damiaanspatrick2050 I live in the Netherlands, i travel to Belgium quite a lot. Have been on multiple holidays to France. And I can say that as long as you actually know where to spend your money the bread you get in the Netherlands is on par with French bread and can even be better if we're talking about loafs of sourdough bread. Ofcourse things like croissants are going to be better in France since that's basically their birthplace. Dutch people eat bread all day every day so even the worst bread in our stores is better than most bread in other countries. (Also Italy has regions with unsalted bread and it sucks)
Oh man, I grew up in Amsterdam. There are so many fun things to discover in Mokum (for the Dutch). But my Amsterdam, I am now 64, is no longer my Amsterdam. It has become nothing more than a major tourist attraction in the center. I prefer to go to Haarlem, much more authentic.
Thanks for the recommendation, we will add it to our list for the next time we visit the Netherlands. We kind of feel the same way about our home town San Diego. We were lucky this last visit in the winter there wasn’t too many people. Thanks again for watching!
De Appie Hey Jin! You know how to say Albert Heijn? Sure... It is Ahl... bird Hine. No Jin, that's not the way... you say, Albert Heijn. It's the moment of AH: There's An A, a double P... an I and an E. For directions just ask for... duh... ahh pee It's out the bottle now, Jin... And it won't get back in. It's no Hobbes... and no Calvin Klein It's just... the Albert Heijn.
@HeresGoodTravel it's all good. I am American and lived in NL from March 2004 until May 2021. I really enjoy watching Americans trying the things that I miss.
It is not about a name off the store, nor is it about the real Amsterdam, not any more. The prices are insane, I grew up near Amsterdam, never did i saw a city loosing his own identity!
In the UK you won't find anyone that doesn't use butter on a sandwich. I can't understand why Americans don't use butter on sandwiches. We in the UK invented the sandwich and have always used butter. What you call sandwiches are not sandwiches they are rolls or baguettes. A proper sandwich is just something between two slices of bread. What you eat on an roll or bap isn't a sandwich they are called baps so it's a chicken bap or burger bap not a sandwich.

We would love to pronounce it right the next time we go and make a video! What a great little market. An OJ like that in the states would cost like $6😂. Thank you for giving our small channel a watch!
Hi, it's mom again. Mmmm Bacon!
That sandwich was insane!
Next time when your in amsterdam plz try the Frikandel speciaal ( its also a snack you can get on like a febo aswel
Ahhhh we saw that but it had to be prepared and we ate a space cake and needed the prepared food from the machine😂. We plan to return to the Netherlands and eat so much more delicious food while exploring new cities. Stay tuned and thanks for watching and the recommendation!
@@HeresGoodTravel may you guys go to the south of netherlands like Province limburg i recommend you guys should try the Hutspot with Zuurvlees (Zuurvlees is a thing you only can get in Limburg) north of holland has an similiar one but in my opinion its not as good as our south one
Amsterdam is amazing in the summer kinda depressing in the winter 😂
We kinda liked it in the winter it was way less crowded. But the summer is so so good
The Netherlands is never depressing. I miss it so much.
that last.....by the palace I work just 500 meters down the road....that said thank you.....
Amazing, we would be there all the time! What an amazing place to live and work. Thanks for watching and commenting it means the world to us!
That sausage sandwich is the Dutch take on the French Jambon beurre.
Ahhh spot on!!! Good call! We don’t have anything that simple in America so it really stood out. It was cool because we had been there before but had no idea where it was!
albert he-jin omg I never even considered the chinese option :D
albert heijn or albert heyn
phonetic Ahll-bert Haine -ish
😂we’ve since learned to pronounce it lol. That would be a collaboration for the ages!
Sheesh 6 ekky for a turkish pizza.. ngl they shouldn't be more than 4, but they seem like a real nice place with good marketing so well done on them. Thanks for the video and don't tell me you're so happy go lucky eating without a wake and bake in the city.
I think that’s the reason we ate so much😂
Nice places!
Thanks! Amsterdam is a truly special placed, we loved it. Thanks for watching!
7:25
That one actually does look very good
We have dreams about that thing! And for €5 what a steal!
@@HeresGoodTravel There are worse things to dream about 😁
cant beat those spanish oranges.
They’re on another level!
For good food you should go to Haarlem. Beautiful city as well. As a dutchie it is my favorite city.
Amazing, thank you kindly for the recommendation. The next time we visit we promise to explore more cities and try some unique Dutch dishes! Thanks a million for watching!
Haarlem doesn’t exist anymore in the Eredivisie as a soccer club 😢 and even Ruud Gullit played for HFC Haarlem!
I don't want the munchies hahaha hahaha
Febo has its place that’s for sure
How in the hell don't you like haring? 😂😂
When I was young I didn't like it either but it's an acquired taste. Now I love haring with onions.
Great! Thanks for this great advice! We will seek them out on our next trip to the Netherlands!
My god… how you guys can eat! With half of it I could do for the day…😮6.50 for a coffee isn’t cheap😢neighter the velvet cake!!
Lol it took us a few days to recover😂
@@HeresGoodTravelscammers, go to hoogvliet-rotterdam, the market here is cheap
@@HeresGoodTravel6.5 euros for a coffee? 😱 In Poland, you had dinner for that much hahahha
For real!! We tried to balance more affordable cities with more expensive ones.
Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation, we’ve added to our list!
I’ve been to ams 6 times, never been on canal tour, never been to museum or Anne frank house, all I do is eat eat eat 😂😂
Yessssss!!!
Looks great. Also, what month was this shot in?
We were there in late December of last year. That’s why we were so bundled.
The food looks yum , apart from the pork, as I don’t eat it.be blessed.
Thank you so much for watching our delicious video! We appreciate the comment too!
Still unnecessary flash, but I like the choice of location. I'm a cook myself, I would not ever use flash period when filming food but that's just my opinion. Natural lighting can be very important.
Thanks! We will do our best to implement this strategy the next time we head out to film.
@HeresGoodTravel thanks for taking it into consideration and good luck with the channel!
very mice video
Thanks so much! We had a blast hunting down cheap eats in Amsterdam! We are in Mexico now doing the same! Thanks for watching and come to g!
What time of the year was your trip to Amsterdam it looks awful cold I have a trip planned for January 2025
FEBO is an automat.
Sorry we are unfamiliar? What is an automat?
@HeresGoodTravel Automats started around the late 1800s in Getmany. In the US, the most famous one was called Horn and Hard art. They are places that serve cooked food from vending machines. They went out of fashion in the US around 1960s. I still can't wait to try FEBO when we go later this year.
The Bacon shop isn't there anymore
Oh noo! Another viewer mentioned this. RIP that place was legendary! Hopefully they will re-opem
how did you purchase the FEBO items? did you use a credit card? or Euros? it looked like people held a card over a detector of sorts. Would like to know- we may try when my family and I visit Amsterdam. TY ahead.
Yes! We just tapped our credit card on the item and it popped open. There is also a walk up counter that prepares the food, you can also order there and pay cash if you need to! Hope this helps, have fun!
thank you! ❤🙏🏽
Home sweet home just lift NL last week, wen to my brother in friesland 6days,my best friend live in enchede 7days,my cousin live in Rotterdam 6days,after I hap on the tgv to Belgium copel of days and wen to Paris for copel of days that was my Europe trip every 2years I go home miss is all ready 😢

... except at the hotel bar 😅
lol that hotel bar was Lit! Kevin Bacon for life!
Albert Heijn is pronounced as Albert Heinz without the z at the end btw. ij=ei
Awesome! Thanks, we will mail it next time!
Lol, lesson learned. Thanks a million for watching!
Ahold/Delhaize the company that owns Albert Heijn also has the Stop and Shop stores in the U.S@@HeresGoodTravel
Albert Hejin 😂
🤦🏻♂️
It's not Albert Hejin, it's Albert Heijn. The pronounce is: Albert Hine
Ahhhhh 🤦🏻♂️

Amsterdam… the city most Dutch people try to avoid…
I could totally see that. We actually felt the same about it the first time we visited. We like staying away from the city center but we’re lucky it wasn’t too crowded this visit. Let us know where you think we should go on our next visit, thanks.
Hahaha, echt wel! 😂
@@HeresGoodTravelYou've ever been in Utrecht?

Also a tip is not required in a restaurant, just so you know
😂😂😂
It is " Albert Heijn" not Hejin 😀
Lol, lesson learned🤦🏻♂️
Albert hajun 🤣🤣
😂haha we have since learned our lesson!
Hi 4/2024 I going to Amsterdam.

Thanks for the comment! The majority of our viewers are American travelers so we use USD most often. At the time this video was made the euro to usd was exactly the same
Shit, how the hell did I miss that affendy place when I went
Bummer! It’s worth a stop next trip for sure. We don’t have anything like it back in San Diego, at least we haven’t found it yet! Thanks for watching and commenting🤙
Albert hejin was 🤣
Hahaha we learned how to say it but it was already too late🤣
4:28 the bread is pre-baked, frozen. gives no added value in the netherlands. but if you have that in Paris that's a whole different story.
We do love a little Persian Jambon beurre! The bread here was pretty solid though. Can’t wait to get back to France next summer!
Nah dutch bread is good man. I agree french bread is good. But if you go to a proper bakery it'll be good bread even in the Netherlands.

Thanks again for watching!
the canals are no rivers, they are hand dug, in the 1600s
Whoa that’s crazy! Thanks for the help understanding. We will be reading about how they were created, thanks!

Hey Jin!
You know how to say Albert Heijn?
Sure... It is Ahl... bird Hine.
No Jin, that's not the way... you say, Albert Heijn.
It's the moment of AH:
There's An A, a double P... an I and an E.
For directions just ask for... duh... ahh pee
It's out the bottle now, Jin...
And it won't get back in.
It's no Hobbes... and no Calvin Klein
It's just... the Albert Heijn.
lol we have since learned our lesson. We will be better prepared next time. Thanks so much for watching!
"it comes out of a vending machine so it should be cheap"
You thought wrong
Haha for real, it was tasty. Maybe after some special brownies it would be even better
Febo = Faybo
Thanks for the correction! We will be back and we will say it right next time. Thanks a million for wstching
2:59 6€ for turkish pizza? I pay 1€-1,50€ here in market
😍amazing! Where? We would love to visit!
Idk where you're getting them but i want those, never seen them go below 5 tbh
Smokey Bacon place is closed.... soooo sad 10 Sept 2024
The WORST news we’ve ever been told! RIP delicious smokey crispy bacon 😢
we call it a "piskrul"(pisscurl), no joke.
Hahahaha too good😂 lol we are dying
There the best fries in dam
No doubt! We can’t wait to get back there and find some more cheap eats!
Ahhh we were wondering what bap meant
Those were drumsticks rather than wings
Maybe that’s why we liked them so much😂!
@@HeresGoodTravel 😂😂 you guys inspired me. I got back from the dam last week. Had some amazing food. Can highly recommend Samrat (Indian restaurant) & Kyo (Japanese restaurant that was really mind blowingly delicious). Best, S

6 euro is two times as much what you pay in the rest of the Netherlands for a Turkish pizza.
