- The Toyota Land Cruiser is pretty much THE most capable SUV in the world, powered by a healthy V8 and a ladder on frame chassis, the Land Cruiser is a very strong go-anywhere vehicle, but there's something that makes this SUV absolutely un-stoppable - the crawl control!
Crawl control lets you get out of very sticky situations easily with just a flick of a button, with this feature you can perform your own self-recovery without the use of any external help!
PS: I hadn't even deflated the tires for this experiment, the tires have their highway driving pressure.
Comment below if you have ever used this feature and let me know how it went. I for one struggled to get the car stuck in the first place! This car just refuses to get stuck!

Put it in some deep sand... It won't works........ It only works in less slip sand..............

This was NOT impressive because:
The LC was already facing downhill and the front wheels were not stuck.
It would be more convincing if both front and back tires were stuck and on a flat surface and not going downhill. Almost any 4x4 with diff lock and 4 low will do the same on a decline level like this

@@v8dxb Actually when offroading on sand, what you want is to glide on the surface. Not cut a whole into the sand with aggressive all terrain/mud terrain tires... thats why we people deflate tires when offroading. to give them a bigger footprint and surface area

@@spencertom8884 Check out for example Liwa, they run large, wide and large sidewall tires with some decent grooves, with some pickups running the dune buggy setup of large groove tires in the rear with the smooth tires at front, there. These setups they use there are the best for sand. Of course with lower tire pressure as well.

And this is without even deflating the tires!
This is a V6 because it says GXR on the back

Well as a bloke that has been know to get his 4x4 stuck on the odd occasion, that was impressive.
Ha ha, I feel your pain. I really tried to get the LandCruiser further stuck in the sand so I could demonstrate better - but it just fails to dig in.

We did that in our Abu Dhabi project. All of our toyotas used you name it LC70 pickup, LC200, Fortuners, Hilux were stucked in that loose sand. The only vehicle that could run circles around us? It is a 2009 Subaru Forester used by our resident surveyor! That project took us 24mos to complete. And after that, I am always giving a nod whenever I see a Subaru doing groceries at the mall's parking lot or even at school yards lol

In Dubai all carwashes over there have lifts and they wash the underbelly.
With this crawl control option... LC can go steep road in rain automatically and even in reverse mode also

Maybe so. But for a demo it wasnt bad. Ive seen it take 10-15 minutes to crawl out of a situation before.
In this type of sand even a corolla can't get stuck. Give some respect to this black beast.
for a test, i need to see prior to crawl control what vehicle was doing including moving steering left and right.
Usually, a constant throttle and left-right movement of the steering wheel would help you get out of some really sticking situation - before the crawl control was engaged, with minimum wheel movement the car was digging deeper. With Crawl Control - it managed to use the traction from the front wheels a 100% and got the back wheels out.
On plain old street tires too. Wow. Impressive
Imagine how capable this is going to be with proper off-road tyres.

Great review I love the Toyota Land Cruizer, we are waiting for a review with a manual transmission.
It looks like you got it stuck in 2WD, which was really one wheel drive with an open diff. Just turning on front and rear lockers in 4WD would have pulled you out.
Land Cruiser is all time 4WD
This is with stock tires. LC is the real king of all suv's. It will never leave you stranded and will last your lifetime
100% I think that's what makes the LC such a special car.

One day i will have an opportunity to own a land cruiser v8 to experience this power performance.
Mitsubishi has been doing this for like 10 years now in the Low - Low mode
Just put it 4LO because front wheel not stuck... Crawl control only used when all wheels stuck and this type of sand you just need to decrease air to 12 psi and play all day without getting stuck... Don't worry it's land cruiser 👍👍👍

Very impressive electronic control.
You should really have locked your centre diff, the centre diff should always be locked when going off road in any condition. An unlocked centre diff off road can lead to damage to the drive train.

Or u can just keep the car in 1st gear, 4wd low....rev it at the most minimum and then turn ur front tyres slowly till u start getting momentum and out of the sand. Once u get out then u can drive away...simple trick we do on older cars 😁
Yes sir, that's one to try and get out - but keep in mind not everyone is a pro-offroader and might know of these amazing tricks - the Crawl Control helps in those situations.

Well thats was quick. Saw a youtube video a guy thats use lc200 without crawl control..kept the revs at 1500 and continued doing left to right, it took him some time but he got out too
That;'s correct - the crawl control essentially used technology to manipulate wheel spin and push more power to wheels with the most traction - but you're right about keeping the revs at 1500 and left-right often helps.

The car wasn't completely stuck... You can easily get out using front and rear diff locks in your case... Nevertheless, crawl control is tested and proven to work.

No crawl control needed. The last time I was bogged in my AWD vehicle , I stalled it and unleashed 500hp at the sand and it was forced to release my car

You'd be surprised how difficult it to get this car stuck. It just refuses to get stuck for me to completely demonstrate a Crawl Control scenario. But believe me it's very capable to get you out of the most difficult situations.

Wasn’t stuck in the first place. It was put in two wheel drive just to dig the rear two tyres in. It could be pulled out with regular four wheel drive without crawl control especially considering how wet the sand was.
A proper demonstration would merit genuinely getting stuck. You should show your audience how it wouldn’t get unstuck in regular 4 wheel drive mode by spinning the wheels and then switch on crawl control.

Ideally yes - about 15-16 psi - on this video though for demonstration purposes I am running full pressure.

V8 DXB imho, their design is dull and sometimes outright ugly, they don’t sell normal RWD sedans and coupes, their interiors are full of fake materials, their customer service and service departments are awful, many people who buy Toyota Camry and such (at least where I live) think they’ve cheated life and are openly aggressive towards those with german and english cars (same can be said about Skodas and many other japanese makes) 🤷🏻♂️

you do realise that left and right does NOT help you in sand. In MUD, yes very much so, but is sand no way! All it does when you do that in sand is dig a bigger hole. You got out of that due to the controlled throttle and braking of the crawl control not because of your steering. Also, you could’ve driven out of that if you lowered your tyre pressure and had it in 4wd to start with.
I unfortunately disagree with you - rocking the wheel left to right has helped me in multiple situations in getting out of some very tricky situations.

Bro, once u put L4 and then set the speed number ,after u release the brake are u supposed to press the accelator or not?
Nope, you're not required to press the accelerator after that - all you have to do is move the steering left and right if required. The car takes care of the rest.
