Re-remade this video because the last one was a little yappy. Hope you enjoy this succinct guide. Also enjoy the magic trick of me turning a lasher into a hammerhead (3:17)
You make it look so easy! I've been getting better though and Aurora safety overrides is a hell of a drug ty for that one. Loved your tierlists back in the day any chance you'll talk about the new weapons/ships?
Quality guide. Pretty straight forward builds as well. I'm pretty new so perhaps I'm off base, but isn't it a bit wasteful to Advanced Optics if it only benefits the Tachyon Lance (Beam), and not the Hypervelocity Drivers? Wouldn't it be better to rock Graviton Beams (same 1000 range, but Beam so they get the +200 from Advanced Optics then the 1.4x boost from Integrated Targeting Unit, exactly like Tach Lance) if one wants to use Advanced Optics? I know that Graviton Beam is usually better paired with an anti-armor weapon like the High Intensity Laser (which is the build the Wiki discusses) which also shares its 1000 range. There is also the option of Ion Beam which is also 1000 range and a Beam weapon, instead of Hypervelocity Drivers which isn't Beam, and is also Ballistic so doesn't even benefit from High Energy Focus. If I get a Champion soon I'll put into action probably both of those builds (interesting to see you leave 4 of the small energy weapon mounts empty. As a new player have been really remiss to leave weapon slots open on combat ships, but I understand why it makes sense here). I'm avid on using my S-points for S-mods, so what would one suggest for the Champion build (either the one you have or say the slightly different Wiki version). Is there anything special it needs, or is largely about OP cost reduction (i.e saving 15op by building in Integrated Targetting Unit which is safely useful in nearly any build variant of Champion). I have no experience with the Squall MLRS missile albeit I see its S rated on the main weapons tier list on reddit (.96a version). From reading the wiki.gg it says that "Squall is a bit of an oddity among kinetic missile weapons as it's the only one with significant endurance - even without any skills or hullmods it takes 160 seconds of continuous fire for it to completely exhaust its ammunition", so I take it one doesn't need something like Fast Missile Racks at all. Wonder if its worth building in something like ECCM Package, saving 15op and granting an additional s-mod bonus. Or is it best to largely ignore the Large Missile slot besides the 20 spent on Squall, and focus everything else on say its Energy Weapon prowess which it excels at with High Energy Focus ability and all the Energy weapon slots. Any other potential build ins would be useful (say the 2 top, then a 3rd possible one if Best of the Best). Edit- I do see now that both Burst Pd Laser and PD Laser are Beam weapons, so they gain +200 range from the Advanced Optics. So that is some nice extra synergy. Still the bigger mismatch of the Hyperveloticity Drivers remains, since it still misses on both the Advanced Optics front as well as the High Energy Focus being useless for it.
The thing is that energy weapons are usually quite bad at causing sustained Kinetic pressure to the enemy while staying at a safe distance -- most long range energy weapons are beam type and deal soft flux, and scatter amp completely cripples the range department of the beams.
I can't find a playlist with video guides on fleet formation, I don't remember who I watched it from, but I think it was you. If so, where can I watch these videos? Maybe there is an archive of old versions?
I hate the kind of game that makes you feel like you have to have a college degree to play it. I'm generally interested in the space travel and trading aspect along with it's politics but I just don't have the time and will to sit through hours of tutorials on how to play combat in this fucking game... But a good video nonetheless

This man still updating these. THE GOAT.

I love your Starsector videos. My fingers are crossed you'll do another vanilla zero to hero with 0.97a. Keep up the awesome work.
The (semi) return of the king!
Hope all is well! Big much gracias to your support of this game!

SC should have a multiplayer arena mode
I completely agree. I wish there was PVP, I would love to pilot against other commanders.
Good lord I need motion sickness pills watching this.
you use my fav character profile pic!!
