Aha! Now I know what I was missing. I was following a very similar pattern to knit a star, but got confused when it came to the bottom two legs - another needle!
    Very useful video 😊

Knit in the front and back of the same stitch. You knit in the front leg and then you turn and knit in the back leg of the same stitch to make a second stitch in the same stitch before you slide the stitch off your needle.

@@Tennafa is this different from KFB?

    • @Tennafa
      @Tennafa 4 роки тому

@@aparnaramesh6547 I'm not sure, but kfb is what I described in my comment. K1m1 looks to be the same thing, but m1 usually means something different. Rewatch the tutorial and see if they are using kfb to m1 (make 1) or if they are using a different technique. When I commented, it looked like kfb was what they used to make an extra stitch.

For anyone who gets stuck, please see the below text pattern. I use the following shorthand - C/O = Cast On, K = Knit, K1M1 = Knit 1, Make 1, CC/O = Cable Cast On (please search for the Woolandthegang tutorial for more Info), K2TOG = Knit 2 Together, S1= Slip 1, PSSO = Pass Slip Stitch Over. I USE A BRACKETED NUMBER AFTER STEPS TO INDICATE STITCHCOUNT!
    Rows:
    1) C/O 1
    2) K1M1 (3)
    3) K1M1, K1M1 (4)
    4-6) K all (4)
    7) K1, K1M1, K2 (5)
    8) K1, K1M1, K3 (6)
    9 - 11) K all (6)
    12) CC/O 7 (13)
    13) K all (13)
    14) CC/O 7 (20)
    15) K18, K2TOG (19)
    16) S1, K1, PSSO, K15, K2TOG (17)
    17) K all (17)
    18 - 25) Alternate between steps 16 & 17 until you reach row 24, ending on step 17 (9)
    25) K1, K1M1, K5, K1M1, K1 (11)
    26 - 28) K all (11)
    29) K1M1, K5 (7)
STOP! Here is where you transfer the last 5 stitches onto a 3rd needle or stitch keeper. You now start to finish the first point. I have divided row 30 by A & B. A applies to this first worked point. B refers to the last point currently kept aside by needle/keeper.
    30A) K2TOG, K3, K1M1, K1 (7)
    31) K5, K2TOG (6)
    32) K all (6)
    33) K2TOG, K2, K2TOG (4)
    34) K2TOG, K2 (3)
    35) K1, K2TOG (2)
    36) K2TOG. Cut Yarn and weave in ends.
    NOW, HERE'S THE TRICKY PART!
You want to take your empty needle and C/O 1. You will now have 1 loop on 1 needle with working yarn on the ball and 5 stitches on your 3rd needle or keeper. Put last 5 stitches being kept onto new needle ready to work. We'll call this your first needle. Take your single C/O loop off the second needle and place it on the first needle with the 5 stitches now on. You will now have 6 stitches but this needs to increase to 7. Start knitting the loop as a usual K1 and then K1 the second loop in the same way. You now have a successful join! I like to tie a 2nd knot at the back of the joining stitch (to make it REALLY secure!) at the end. You can also weave this in. Now, back to the last point in the pattern. As we just completed the 1st 2 directions of Row 30B, you can carry on from the *. If you want to follow a more direct pattern without above method, start from the beginning of 30B below:
30B) Put all 5 saved stitches onto first needle. C/O 1 onto 2nd (empty) needle and pass onto working needle. K1 on newly added stitch and tie a knot onto the knitted stitch to secure. Now, K1,*K1M1, K3.
From here, follow steps 32 - 36 and you're done!
I sincerely hope that this helps people who have gotten stuck (like me!) xx
