My man's wearing a durag flying a 787. Boeing culture is something else 😂
Haha it sure is 😂
Gotta protect the hair from any turbulance. Gotta land in style
lol. Well honestly since I am bald with no hair, it’s very easy to get sunspots on my head. So the best way to protect me is by putting something over it and that is direct contact with the sun once you get above the clouds. And unlike the 777, the design flaw for sun protection in the 787 is that there are no pulldown shades. So either I stuff the window with blankets or stuff things in the window to keep the sun out and I can’t quite do that when I’m below 10k feet. To it may seem a fashionable statement it’s my way of protecting the skin on my head

As a Vietnamese, I highly appreciate your choice of using Saigon for the name of our beautiful 300 years old city. Thank you!

It's very rare to see a pilot flying a big jet manually. Usually at some hundreds feet (it depends on the Air Company's policies) the autopilot is engaged. Pilots of big jets are not very keen on flying it manually, as well. I remember the first time I flew a B737SFP, manually, from SBMO (MCZ) to SBSP (CGH), as a copilot. The captain said to me "you can do it if you want but you're crazy!", but it's exactly what I did and, surely, I loved it. When I moved to other airline, to engage the autopilot at 1000' was mandatory, so no more manual flight after this altitude. :( Anyway, great video, Captain! 👍
Yeah it really depends on the airline culture. But the handling can only become the best it can be with as much practice as possible
@@sr.pilot.anthony Agree!
Sometime you need to revise your flying skills and refresh them .
This guys is a hard example for mastering a big bird
Great to see that you hand flown this beauty for as long as possible, Kudos! 👏
Amazing!! Greetings from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
Anthony is a #RealPilot for sure ! 🔥🔥🔥
Haha thanks but honestly it keeps me from becoming sluggish in the simulator every 6 months
@@sr.pilot.anthony You’re humble too, amazing ! I’m not a real pilot, but personaly i know a lot of real ones, And most of them don’t hold their machines manually until flight level 70, and don’t disconnect the AP, when they’re still in clouds, like you did, Only real pilot do that, But i think every pilot should have your pilot skill. Keep going mate and keep sharing with us #FlySafely kind regards
@@BlackDenzels thanks for noticing lol. I didn’t even notice it myself but yeah I guess I’m just comfortable at the sport
That's pretty incredible, flying by hand that long. Most probably have the auto pilot on before the gear is all the way up!
Good job captain, love your vids! Hi from Singapore Airlines sir 🙏
Camera placement is the best! I feel like I'm flying with you. Please share more.
Welcome to Hood Airways! My man nailed every part of the flight
LOOL I was actually being polite too 😂
Just saw this, real cool flying. It’s good to see that some honest, hard working pilots still have the right stuff!! Nice video and really enjoyed it. Love the quiet background music too. 👍
Thanks ! appreciate the feedback
@@sr.pilot.anthony no worries, look forward to watching more of your videos. Take care 😀👍
Wow ive never seen asmr cockpit video b4
Love to see so much manual flying and keeping those skills sharp. Excellent video quality and camera angle as well. You also handle the controls with a nice, smooth, light touch - far too often do pilots over-control and add unnecessary input onto the flight controls. Cheers!
When flying becomes a spiritual connection there is no need to over control the airplane. Simply I put what’s needed and try to consider the passenger comfort in mind
you know when you hear gpws callout 5 its gonna be butter
Love how chilled this video is, great camera angle as well!
The job only becomes unchilled when one isn’t truly connected to the sport
Hello, I would like to ask if each pilot has their own headset? Have a good day and safe flights. 😇
I bring my own for my personal sanitary reasons. But depending on the company it’s either provided as a public headset or the pilots are required to bring their own with the spare headsets for civil aviation compliance. In my current job people usually use the public headset provided in the airplane
@@sr.pilot.anthonywhat airline do you fly for? Are you allowed to say?
@@ItzChickenYallhe's flying for Vietnam Airlines
@@ItzChickenYall yup. If I was paid to sponsor it I would probably advertise it 😂
Nothing better than hand flying it sir! Great job! Autopilot can be boring lol
Haha it’s not about boring. I prefer to keep my confidence sharp 😂
Man I miss the relaxed atmosphere there. I used to request right turn with tower before takeoff and fly it at v2+10 until direct, then high speed climb. Hopefully bad weather on the route to request heading and fly direct to Hanoi thru Cambodia. Then fly cost index 0 while direct.
More of this view please
Nice to meet you captain
BADASS
Thanks!
Excellent
I haven't seen a video like this in which the pilot hand-flies the plane for so long, that was cool! Do pilots have instructions to turn autopilot after a certain point in the takeoff procedure, or do you have freedom to activate it when you see fit?
It really depends on the company culture, company operating procedures, and confidence of the pilot. But yes I see most just turn it on at 200 feet after takeoff and just before landing which is ok with me. But I still enjoy the feeling of flying instead of managing
@@sr.pilot.anthony Thank you for the clarification!
Great video ❤
Such a long manual flight. Best way to be good !
It sure is!
Hand flying master. That's what years of single pilot IFR without A/P will get you.
Hahah we are from that generation. Now all these oversized color screens are filled with useless nonsense and it’s a constant dose of EMF blasted in my eyes. It’s not very comfortable sometimes
Awesome landing! Do you manually shut off the auto throttle or does it happen automatically when reverse thrust is initiated? I was trying to watch your movements. Cheers from CYYB. I fly on a 787 regularly and watching your videos is very informational. Thanks for sharing.
In the 787 and 777 auto throttle stays on entire flight
Thanks Anthony!
Awesome flight Sim almost looks real
Love the camera view captain @Sr Pilot Anthony
What song is playing in the background during the climbout?
Top-notch video as always 🤙
Thanks a lot!
Absolutely fantastic channel > definitely keep'em coming Gentlemen 👍
May i ask what device are you using to record and what is the microphone used to record sound?
For this video it was just a GoPro 12
Can you leave us the information of your flight next ime? Such as fuel ton, load, wind and temperture, airport SID STAR chart,... This would make your video more professional!
Would love to. I am managing three other channels that generate income. Flying is more of a hobby for me at this point and if I get some extra time for sure next time I can put these things up.
Nice video 💯
Why is there music on the background 🤔
Come from James Wang’s channel
Splendid❤❤
In a few words, what are the main FD improvements over and above earlier aircraft like a 767-300ER?
Honestly? Nothing. Instead of looking at a physical FD now we have a cockpit full of big color screens full of EMF which can’t be good for one’s eyes at some point. I would rather use a mechanical FD any day. Tho I prefer the performance of a modern fly by wire airplane
大佬的好兄弟,bro of James Wang👍👍
Ayoooooooo!
Hand flying! Fuck yeah!
It’s the best way to become better, by practice lol
I'd love to fly for vietnam airlines, don't know if it's possible as a foreigner though.
I'd say it's pretty much tough luck as they're more focused on training and employing local pilots now but just give it a try
Truly agree as its basically supply and demand with this kind of work. Id say keep your options open!
Nise office....😮
which airline is this ???
Vietnam Airlines
Should be HUD down for take off. Sure would make a V1 cut a lot more challenging without it.
Look like that you have float a bit before touchdown
Landing performance based upon "touchdown within .....seconds after crossing the threshold " can you fill in the gap ? (ICAO)
Landing performance is based on landing inside the touchdown zone. I never heard of it being a timing issue. If something had changed please teach me something new lol
@sr.pilot.anthony flying the 747 into SZX they have a time limit. 50 seconds from when you cross the numbers till you turn off. I've never time it since who cares.
Parking brake on an active rwy? No. And why not flying with the hud?
HUD is not a requirement. It’s a preference in any airplane honestly. And parking brake on a runway is common practice
@@sr.pilot.anthony yeah you try to move out of the runaway quickly with that parking brake selected, or shutdown a runaway because it failed. “Practice” my beloved bottom! HUD is a safety device, it is a PFD in most airplanes equipped with it, or else some types of approaches could not be certified, especially under FAR part 25 for example; and last time I checked safety was not a personal preference. Maybe it’s the bandana…. Happy landings while you last, buddy
Well if you coming here to entertain me makes you happy by all means may the universe continue to bless you with all the power you seek and deserve. To clarify since you apparently aren’t a qualified pilot, you would understand what aircraft inspections are for. You could read and educate yourself to see how many airplanes have had parking brake failure on an active runway. And if you had any sense of what PIC authority is then you would be educated enough to know there is never any need for anything to be done in a hurry in an airplane. And I will continue to stay it again, HUD is NOT a requirement. You think they cancel the flight when it doesn’t work? And if your personal wish of “how long you last” is genuine, than I wish you luck when you criticize a person you know nothing about. Personal faith and preference in the way one choses to live is only subjective to judgement from the creator and not you. Negativity is entertaining to me and only gets you less rewards in life. If you’re so miserable looking at my videos perhaps maybe you can realize you have the choice to not look at them 🤷🏾.
@@sr.pilot.anthony I came home from work, and found your message. So I took to the powerful internet to find out if I am the only one reading “parking brake”, and not “runaway brake”. NBAA was the first result, so I will stop there because shortly it will be dinner time. Their “Safety Best Practices” Manual, Chapter 3, “Before Takeoff Checks” and I quote “The aircraft parking brake will not be set while the aircraft is on the active runway”. I will also keep you posted on other findings, but I am starting to suspect we’re outside of the realm of a “common practice”, if there are official recommendations against it. Oh, working on the HUD as a PFD! Regards!
@@sr.pilot.anthony pasta not ready yet 😀so…. ICAO Doc 10161, “Global Aviation Safety Roadmap” recommends the use of HUD to improve safety and situational awareness. 787 MMEL allows the HUD to be inoperative but only unless current conditions dictate its use (low vis, etc). In essence if the weather is just right a 787 without operable HUD’s may have to cancel certain types of approaches, so divert or no-go.
Good safety practice by Captains should be to use it and train in its use, since it is a safety device, in order to be proficient for when is required for the approach, normally “bad weather”.
I believe safety overrides both personal preferences and Captain authority but I will be sure to keep educating myself
So I've come to the conclusion that wearing a durag adds 20% extra odds of making a butter landing.
No HUD??
I find it quite distracting and with the optical illusion received by looking through two windows especially in the night I don’t consider it effective. It’s only effective for low visibility approaches as the airplane does an autoland and you can both look out the window instead of one looking out and the other heads down monitoring instruments. But again, it’s my preference and we are all allowed to have preferences

I heard that Boeing got some technical problems with the body of 787!! Do you worry about it?
No it does happen ones the plane is perfectly fine. Because the flight attendant Is accidentally bump it sanding against it
Sometimes we must consider what’s being told on the news is only for likes and views. I haven’t seen any problems with it
The anti icing system on ~20 787s was found damaged on multiple inlets around the engines anti ice duct within the inlet aft compartment with duct seals found to have degraded over time, components in the inlet were exposed to high temperatures which resulted in thermal damage and discolouration although the FAA does know about this, it is said to be relatively minor and considered “low-risk” by the FAA. - video posted 9 days ago by simple flying
“Damage discovered on "multiple inlets around the engine's anti-ice duct within the inlet aft compartment," with duct seals found to have degraded over time.”
Rubbish. Never a problem. Best planes (787 family) in the air thus far.
Is that a woman on the right
