We just crossed over that border a week ago as a shortcut to Niagara Falls and Northern border states. We took the Macinac (pronounced Macinaw) Bridge to take the pedestrian ferry over to Macinac Island and beautiful tourist trap that everyone should see at least once if possible. No cars , just bicycles and horses. We then took the crossing at Sault St.Marie. down to Niagara Falls. The Canadian side was insane, teaming with thousands of us tourists well into the night. We then went to Watkins Glen (No relation) to see the gorge. Amazing ! Heading to Lake George today. Thanks for the video.

I forgot to mention that we stayed at Hogs Head Island State Park campground for a night right on Lake Michigan. We met a couple with their grandkids who live " down state " . They explained that she grew up in the Upper Peninsula and he grew up in the Lower Peninsula. She is a Yooper and he's a Troll. If you remember your Billy Goats Gruff, trolls live below the bridge. Love truly conquers all 😅

Just watched your latest release. We too crossed into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. However we did that on July 30 this year. We are still in Canada and enjoying our time. Will be boarding the ferry soon to 23 days in Newfoundland. Haven’t been there before. Really excited. Hope that your travels are smooth and relaxing. Thank you for your content!

The Bush Plane museum looked really well done. Enjoying your trip and all of the useful information. We use a thermacel,(slightly larger) and I really think it works, but only on mosquitoes, it doesn't do much for gnats and flies in my experience.

    • @FromShetoMe

I was skeptical at first, but we've used a number of different thermacel products and they do seem to work.

Woo! Hoo!! Canada. We crossed back into the US at Ste. St. Marie and it was so cold and windy that we did not stop much. Will have to put the Bush plane museum on our list. Enjoyed your insights regarding transportation. In our 7 years of RVing we have driven 132K miles, slept in 47 states, 10 Canadian provinces/territories, and walked across the border into Mexico. Enjoy your trip

I have to take issue with your statement about 15% added to Canadian groceries, assuming you're talking about a retail sales tax. Most groceries do not have sales tax added.
We use the Thermacell devices too, and they work for us, both on our patio and while camping. Amazon often has better prices for the refills in bulk.
Glad to see you got to Canada, hope you enjoy the rest of your trip here!
    Gord.

Thanks, someone tried to explain the tax on food after I recorded that but I found it very confusing as some things are taxed and others aren’t. I’ll have to look it up and see if I can figure it out.

It's always a nice treat waiting for your Sunday episodes to come out. This trip had a little bit of everything, even creepy crawlies. I'm not a fan of HUGE BUGS but I do admire your steady hand, when you had them place that GAG-NORMOUS BUG on you 🪲 I was ewwww😱 I'd be running out the front door.😊 That museum was very cool, lot's to see. You & John have inspired me so much. From your amazing adventures to your must do physical activities. I've definitely caught your bug 💕 Now I'm making sure I take so many steps daily, to what my food intake is. It's been a process on everything I'm taking on, but I love everything about this positive change. Thank you both 🙏 Safe travels, Yvonne🥰

Welcome to Canada! Hope you enjoy our Country! Been to Grundy many times. One of the most popular provincial parks. I'm sure you love the exchange rate. We went to Myrtle beach in the spring. It cost us $140.00 dollars Canadian for 100 American. Problem was, almost everything had a price the same as us. Still love to visit. So much to see. Happy travels!

They always ask the question about alcohol. I'm canadian and it used to be a lot less expensive to buy alcohol in the US versus Canada. That's not really the case anymore. In fact cross border shopping doesn't make sense at all with the Canadian dollar. We live in the west and cross the border into the US and usually find everything from groceries to restaurants to cost the same or more in the US after you consider the exchange rate.

    • @FromShetoMe

Very true. But I always stock up on Skippy peanut butter before crossing. 😁 But then it's straight to the Canadian grocery store for Old Dutch chips and all the different flavors.
