Kerry from Tefal demonstrates how to use the Tefal OptiGrill Smart Grill GC702 to cook a streak just the way you want it.
The automatic cooking sensor gauges the thickness of the steak and sets the appropriate temperature.
A coloured circle will change appearance depending on the stage of cooking it is at, and will beep when it hits each level.
The OptiGrill can also cook hamburgers, chicken, toasted sandwiches, and fish. If you want to char-grill vegetables you can use the manual setting.
The OptiGrill also comes with a recipe book.

Before you cook anything you need to fully open the lid - gently right until it can go no further, I believe the grill calibrates it lid position mechanism, when you do this and then close the lid on the meat - that is how the grill knows the thickness of the steak and hence cooking times and temps.
I have this grill and it is really nice for steak, chicken and I love grilled ham and cheese on it. Be warned though, that the color temp is way off. A med steak comes out overcooked, and you'll notice in the video they left that part out.
Pull it off about 45 seconds to 1 min after it beeps for rare and you'll get a medium. That's my only complaint about this grill.
Anything that you're cooking, steak, chicken, etc, pull it off a min or two BEFORE the temp gauge tells you otherwise it winds up overcooked.
Yeah...did you watch the video before you posted it? Your "medium" steak is well done. Medium should have a hot pink center;.
Blue, well done, well done.
This is my second one. We have it outside the garage door exposed to the elements yearound ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxreK_FUQ74_bylFqCr3y2MHqL3u78-b3r Direct sunlight deteriorated the plastic on the thermostat and severe winds blew the lid off. We found it about an acre away. I bought a new one and I saved the good parts from the old one as spares. Got about 8 years out of the first one.
Thank you excellent tutorial of understanding and how to use the optigrill
That "medium" was NOT medium. It was well done, by any standard.
Well if you notice right at first the steak was medium but when she showed it again it was well done. I think cause its being heated on both sides that when you do take it off the grill it keeps cooking faster than we realize/ are used to.
@@aguiremedia No, she started with Rare, said "moving on to medium" said "as you can see, it's medium. She showed a Rare steak, NEXT she showed an extremely well-done steal and said "As you can see, it's medium".
At 3:16 in the video, she shows a Rare piece of steak. TEN SECONDS Later, at 3:26 in the video, she shows what she claims to be a Medium. There was nothing in between, and she did not show anything "in between". One rare, one "medium".
its not like it is on the video i got one and its great, dont worry.. i think shes a bit slow on things etc. you can see the different levels in real life this not the best video
Great product.Tip.Whe you have finished cooking take out the tucker and put a piece of damp paper tower over the cooking surface.Close lid.Clean up is a breeze.
Love the tip Craven Morehead. Thanks for sharing :)
These look boiled and the video has completely changed my mind about buying one.
yeah same
If you marinate in oil it will get a better sear. This is the difference between cooking a steak in a pan with oil and without. The grill surface definitely gets hot enough
I like everything well done cause I’m so paranoid of eating under cook meat so this machine is perfect for someone like me to cook my meat on.
Freeze your meat for a couple of weeks and then you can have it rare if you want to.
How come medium turned out to be well done? I have one and sometimes it works great, other times, not so great
OC Dreamer, the quality or thickness of the meat may make a difference. If you think there is a technical problem with your machine, you can contact Tefal customer support on 1300 307 824. Its 💯NOT as advertised !
Picked one of these up from goodwill for 4$ awesome for my apartment
Same here! It had that error where the selection buttons didn’t light up so i reset it as per some videos online and it works perfectly
Me too! For $12 lol
Both medium and well done look the same. A fancy George Foreman grill, which u can find at goodwill for 15 bucks lol
*****, you can adjust the settings to suit your tastes. This machine allows you to set the auto functions to accommodate a whole variety of foods, including fish, meats and vegetables.
haha, it's a good device ; i cooked 5 kilo or marinated meat for my mothers 60th birthday with it, people loved it xd
As long as the idea of rare-medium-well done system is good it should really be designed the opposite way. Steak which is meant to be well done should go in first, then machine should tell you when to put in the steak which is meant to be medium and then the one which is meant to be rare. As things are now, if there are 3 people who like 3 different ways of preparing steaks, they cannot start eating at the same time unless they don't mind cold steaks. Perhaps Tefal can take it into consideration when designing future models
It's a good point poodelek. Although if you're cooking for just yourself, you wouldn't want to wait for the machine to countdown before putting the steak on. Also, it's always good to let your meat rest, so it wouldn't matter to wait a bit. However, we're sure Tefal would appreciate all feedback. Just found a brand new one someone tossed away never used super excited to use this
Howcome when I pressed sandwich then ok. The light jump to manual for a solid red light instead of sandwich and ok lights on 😢

+Appliances Online Australia It'll change to manual if you open it before it beeps to let you know it's ready, or if you open it for any length of time during cooking. Took me awhile to figure it out too.
No problem :)
@@ChrisWJames Thanks for the above as i have been doing my head in and i knew its me doing something thats causing it to go to manual. But the other issue i have is that once its on Manual i cant have it on any auto settings
What do you do if you’ve got 6 pieces and you have to cook 3 at a time ‘ do you have to reset the grill ...
no wonder I kept getting it wrong, you have to select before putting meat on...thanks a lot
Those programs doesn't work properly. Just got one today, looked very promising but after some testing the programs doesn't work. When turning the device on and selecting your program it goes straight to the manual mode. Sometimes the programs work, but most of the time it doesn't. Very strange :(
I have the same problem, want to knwo a solution
I just use manual mode. I think the grill is the best I've ever had - such a high standard of food is made on it.
Great job lady, steak is sizzling nicely and look at that gorgeous steam 🤭🤭🤭🥰
How easy is it to clean that fat from the steak afterwards?
i have the one that have a termometer, how do i use the manual mode please
As it happens all the time with modern gadgets, too many options that may or may not work as you want them to. A timer and a temperature knob would do the trick, and that would save costs as well.
please can you tell me where you bought your on the grill manuel, many thanks
That’s not medium but it looks good
i have one and very hard to set up the cooking sensor . don't waste your money.
Just put a chicken breast & 3 pieces of asparagus on mine...wasn't at all perfectly grilled. Breast was turned into jerky and asparagus to mush - sensor never changed color from blue...not very impressed for the $179 & change I paid for it last night. Keep your receipt

Its not supposed to make an entire meal at once. I think you don’t understand how it operates
@3:25 you killed it!
It may appear slightly overdone slang1984, but it was still moist and tasted pretty good :)
Sadly though.... Rare is almost blue and then the medium is well done. Needs to be a little now progressive on the levels.
its not like it is on the video i got one and its great, dont worry.. i think shes a bit slow on things etc. you can see the different levels in real life this not the best video
Notice that that we don't see her cutting the steak but just the end result of what it should look like.
That ain’t medium honey
I have a new type of grill ( optigrill) when we put the meat cut after heating symbol manual back (M) and I've tried several times
I don't usually comment on videos but I will on this one, you didn't mention what the temperature of the steak has to be, steak cooks differently from room temperature, than from fridge temperature. I am considering getting one any way. Ideally I would love to be able to program the temperatures and time values myself and a cut off time, so I can set and forget, leave the house to get a missing grocery or bottle of something, and come back to know I havent set the kitchen on fire.
My friend you need a slave in the house, not an electric grill.....
Nothing like a good bottle of wine and a "rested" to death and cold like a m..... f....... steak.
@@RanNero 🤣🤣😂😂
Good video
Are my eyes seeing wrong? Why is she calling a well done steak medium?
to bad that doesn't have dual. I need that very much. To bad
that medium is to grey.
The steak may appear slightly over-cooked for medium, slang1984, but that was more due to us not taking it out of the machine on time, rather than the machine cooking it too long before alerting us...Sorry :(
The medium was not medium looked over cooked and the exterior of the first two steaks not enough colour looks a bit stewed grill not hot enough which is a problems for all these types of electric grills.
raw or rare
Tiktoktan geldim
Is cheaper to do it in a toaster, as per few UA-cam videos. Same crap result.
What about energy consumption?
really? who cares. you use it for ten minutes how much electricity can you possibly use? 3 cents
I was using it wrong for more than 2 years 😂
That sure isn't medium
Well that's not medium for a start 🤣
People should know that animal fat is Not bad for you. In fact you really should eat fat.
Look great but to much tech to go wrong
That was not a medium steak
medium failed
yeah, no, that's not Rare, that's RAW
Um raw!!?? Really wow pretty sure you mean RARE
And what the Fuck are you doing with your METAL tong on a teflon surface????????????? And. That's not medium, It's Well Burn for me.
Mine smells like an iron
Hope fully YOURS LASTS longer than mine did before it gets a mind of its own and becomes a useless shelf for condiments !
Biiig different between rare and medium-rare... that medium-rare is well done... 👎
rare not raw!
Everything about this from the "Medium" steak to the scraping of the metal tongs on a non stick surface gave me cancer.
Horrible ad. Steaks looked steamed
😂😂 no way
Cooking a steak is not rocket science 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣
