Mine arrived this past Friday on my birthday. I've cooked some steaks and some burgers so far and I absolutely LOVE it. Great tool. It cooks so fast and so even.
Plates pop off and go into the dishwasher. Couldn't be easier. I have some frozen chicken breasts I'm going to try. Those are easy. Cook til lights are red.
I've wanted one for ages and now I think it is actually worth the price , especially if you struggle getting meat to the desired rare medium or well done . Thanks
I always found it weird that here in Europe, it's called Tefal, yet across the Atlantic it's T-Fal. Same company, different names, just strange. Anyway, I found it on amazon.de, and it's suggested retail price is around 160 Euros (around 178 US Dollars), but it's currently on sale.
I'm actually quite impressed! This would be an excellent product for college kids AND seniors. My dad would love this as he doesn't really cook anything since my mom passed. He has no interest in learning how to cook either so this would do it all for him. Great review, Jack!!
I just bought an OptiGrill I haven't used it so far but I would suggest that when you take a piece of beautiful looking prime rib steak ( as in this video ) DON'T destroy it by dousing it with all that seasoning. I would never treat a piece of prime beef in that manner. Keep in mind that salt in any form extracts the natural meat juices. I owned a gourmet old fashioned butcher shop for many years and always advised my customers to salt and season after cooking ,,, just my learned opinion for what it's worth.
munnjean No, salting just before or 60 minutes or more before is actually the best. Tests have been done to prove it. Agreed though, he over-seasoned it. Hell, I wouldn't even put garlic powder on a steak. Just salt and pepper is fine.
jack, your reviews are always perfect! you tell us everything we need to know and perform the right tests to give us an unbiased opinion on products. thank you and keep it up!
Thanks Jack I'm glad you liked and approved it. I will be getting one in the near future. GOD Bless. Oh by the way this is DeAndre who be inboxing you on Facebook.
I can beat that...Goodwill. $10. No drip pan or manual. Had to recalibrate the buttons. Threw a U Tibe vidio called " Fix My T-Fal " works great Was stuck on manual temp setting... Now it's automatic again
I think maybe I would like a flash sear (both sides) in my ol' cast iron skillet first, maybe about a minute and a half both sides, then the medium setting?? thanks for the video, I am considering getting one myself.
Did you "season" the plates first? My first set of plates i didnt and had some sticking and cleaning issues. New plates i seasoned like manual says and they are great! Love this thing!! Like a foreman with a computer.
I’ve watched a couple videos about it and the “medium” steaks look pretty much “well done” which is what puts me off. Also they appear a bit strange as if they were boiled. How is it cooking stuff different than steaks?
T-fal does it again. Love them!! This is a great indoor griller, and I loved that it has sensors to take the guess work out. Now my mouth's watering, thinking of all the food I can grill. Thanks again, Jack!
Thank you so much for doing a review for this product. Your the only one that has a full review on UA-cam. I only wish i could of seen more food being cooked. Most videos on UA-cam just show the steak. I wouldn't mind seeing sausages and veggies being cooked on there maybe for your next episode or one of them at least.
When lifting up the handle to open it to proceed with the cooking process, did it at all feel not stable? Can you keep using it and then say in a few months make another video about it to do like a follow up to see how it holds up? Thanks for another great product review, Jack!
Daily Kate it was very stable. It didn't lock down. for some reason I thought it was going to, but it didn't need to. It's T-Fal stable like their cookware. This doesn't feel cheap at all
I have their "super grill" (it's the same as opti grill but without the doneness indicator system and it's half the price) it is an amazing grill. In my case you have to set the temp manually based on the ting you are grilling (3 heat levels + a max "sear" level) and it's super sturdy and solid design and I've seen the opti grill it's the same sturdy design ig not a bit more solid... in my opinion tho, to give like extra 100$ just for a thickness sensor is not that good of an idea.... and I actually like to control my stuff manually and not having a machine to tell me what to do...
The grill plates are removable and can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. Its easy to clean. Sometimes, its enough to wipe down the grates with a paper towel. The drip tray slides out and can be washed in the sink.
I just got one ... you put the food in AFTER the green lights up because green means start cooking. Jack put the steak in before the green lit up so steak was more rare. This is a great product. It does not harm my granite countertop as feet stay cool. It did smoke a bit on first use. Also, I wiped the ceramic plates with a paper towel sprayed with cooking oil before cooking.
Cooking With Jack Show I am so psyched that you bought this. I want one so bad I even TiVo'ed the infomercial (dork move, I know, LOL). I've been wondering if it's worth the money, and you've now convinced me that it is. I can't wait to try one!
I think Optigrill needs to give you a couple to give away because I went from "That's really expensive" to "I MUST HAVE IT" in the time it took to watch this video.
I have this exact product and do use it once or twice a week. However the sensor doesn't work though. So if you are buying it because it has a sensor on it, take my advice, don't! It will not work for long. It fades out into a normal George Foreman grill. So might as well save you money and buy a George Foreman grill instead... I had replace it twice and because of my warranty is out I can't replace it.
I'm about to get one of these on a garage sale app.. is this just for meats? or do you think you can make hot sandwiches, like Panini's or grilled cheese with it?.. if so- I'm sold..
I know this review of it was a few years ago but I just received this from my husband for Mother's Day and I'm so excited to try it
I am so glad this performed well for you. I have this same grill on my reminder list on Amazon!
Mine arrived this past Friday on my birthday. I've cooked some steaks and some burgers so far and I absolutely LOVE it. Great tool. It cooks so fast and so even.
and it cleans very easy, huh? So glad you love it.
it will come in handy during the winter.
Plates pop off and go into the dishwasher. Couldn't be easier. I have some frozen chicken breasts I'm going to try. Those are easy. Cook til lights are red.
The medium steak looked so scrumptious & juicy. Even the well done steak looked so tender & really juicy. That really impressed me.
I just bought this a few weeks ago and I love it! No regrets!!! T-Fal is an amazing brand, I have a pan from them and the ez clean deep fryer 😁
I've wanted one for ages and now I think it is actually worth the price , especially if you struggle getting meat to the desired rare medium or well done . Thanks
Just ordered one T-fal Optigrill and will let you know my opinion. But I am sold!
And what is your opinion?
This is the best indoor grill i ever bought... its really incredible
My fiancé is gonna love this! Buying this @Xmas for sure!

I have an Optigrill and it is awesome! Tried it with everything but sandwiches, burgers, and fish.
Update: I have tried it with everything but sandwiches. Still going strong!
This is by far the best review i have seen - thanks so much!
Here it's called Tefal.
I like your videos keep up the good work Jack the reviews that you do are very helpful
After I watched your video, I ordered the grill immediately. I'm excited!
Agreed. That medium was medium well darn near well done even. Pink should be a consistant line not just a tiny corner.
what kind of dorm lets you put a hotplate in your room? all the unis i've attended specifically say we can't have these things.
I'm actually quite impressed! This would be an excellent product for college kids AND seniors. My dad would love this as he doesn't really cook anything since my mom passed. He has no interest in learning how to cook either so this would do it all for him. Great review, Jack!!

"I"m gonna cry" lol.. I loved that! This was awesome! Thank you! I want one!
It is perfect for busy people. Im a full time college student who likes to meal prep. This is PERFECT!!!
jack, your reviews are always perfect! you tell us everything we need to know and perform the right tests to give us an unbiased opinion on products. thank you and keep it up!
Got one of these the other day, thanks for this video it helped me figure out how to use it!
Thanks Jack I'm glad you liked and approved it. I will be getting one in the near future. GOD Bless. Oh by the way this is DeAndre who be inboxing you on Facebook.
yellowlion3250 God bless my friend.
Jack, I nailed it! New on EBay 53.00 shipping included. Score! missing the drip pan & manual. I'll be eating like a human before long. You rock dude!
I can beat that...Goodwill. $10. No drip pan or manual. Had to recalibrate the buttons. Threw a U Tibe vidio called " Fix My T-Fal " works great
Was stuck on manual temp setting...
Now it's automatic again
good job jack those stakes look awsome.
I bought the pancake pan you showed, it was on sale for 10 bucks so i bought it, just have to say it works great, thanks for the tip
can you review the t-fall deep fryer with the oil reservoir on the bottom? just got it and haven't used yet, my 1st fryer. thanks!
That's it, I can't take it anymore I'm buying one right now.
How has this been holding up lately? I just ordered mine and am pretty excited for it.
great product :D it looks great for college kids, I know my friends would love to have it in their dorm because of their limited cooking methods.
These are nice... when they work
Great grills but I find a recalibration every dozen uses keeps it cooking to perfection! 👍
Thank you for the amazing review! Finally one that made sense and was to the point, yet thorough.
I have one of these, they are amazing, I love it. You need to try the Delonghi Multifry Extra Chef if you haven't already, great bit of kit.
I’ve watched a couple videos about it and the “medium” steaks look pretty much “well done” which is what puts me off. Also they appear a bit strange as if they were boiled. How is it cooking stuff different than steaks?
Was it easy to clean ? Have you still been using? Do you still like?
hey where is the medium rare and what color is it?
what do you do with all the products you buy and test? do you save them or give them away or use them?
T-fal does it again. Love them!! This is a great indoor griller, and I loved that it has sensors to take the guess work out. Now my mouth's watering, thinking of all the food I can grill. Thanks again, Jack!
i brought the Optigrill for my Birthday but mine is the XL version and i use it a lot and it was $1.60.00 on amazon best Birthday gift ever.
Does it come with a manual that tells you how to use it?
I'm wondering if you have a review on the Cuisinart 5 in 1 griddle griller. The newer one. I'd like to compare the two before I make my final choice
Jack do you still use it
Thank you so much for doing a review for this product. Your the only one that has a full review on UA-cam. I only wish i could of seen more food being cooked. This is a great grill for apartment life
Agree! I use it a couple of times / week.
It's great for a studio apartment.
What would be the best setting for bacon?
Nice Video, everything looks so delicious😍
Greetings from Munich Germany

Looks cool enough.. But id never use the auto settings. I have a George forman grill ive worn the non stick coating off. I love it to death.
how do u clean grill after use
The grill plates are removable and can be washed by hand or in the
dishwasher. Its easy to clean.
Sometimes, its enough to wipe down the grates with a paper towel.
The drip tray slides out and can be washed in the sink.
Where to buy and how much
you shuld not press down the lid.. becuse it messes with the sensors
Great product review. Looks like a really good product. Was cleaning easy?
I Just Like To Cook totally easy like a T-Fal frying pan
Cooking With Jack Show how much sugar goes in the icing for the pumpkin angel food cake?
Does it produce a lot of smoke?
I love my steak blue does it have a setting for that? Please
Yeah just eat it without cooking it.
LOL thank Marco would just like it singed on the outside :)
Wow nice riview jack ! Seems like an awesome product ! That well done steak looked flawless.
I want one about to get it to

Lynne Wilson makes no sense. If he put the steak in early and cooked it for longer, why would it be MORE rare?
Meme man I'm wondering as well hahaha
I'm super excited to see your Halloween special Jack :)
awesome jack tks for the review!!!
How well does it work if you start with a frozen steak?
I actually bought this because of you, I wanted to say thanks for the recommendation. : )
Lol how would shrimp work on there like say med size naturally I do by pan buy not sure if smaller shrimp would work as well in that grill
Matt bank you'd use the fish setting. It only cooks for a minutes. The fish was perfect.
Cooking With Jack Show I am so psyched that you bought this. I want one so bad I even TiVo'ed the infomercial (dork move, I know, LOL). I've been wondering if it's worth the money, and you've now convinced me that it is. I can't wait to try one!
You don't have to press the lid down. It closes on its own according to thickness. Enjoyed your video.
sorry about being off the topic but with Easter coming have you ever done a Italian Easter pie. pizziagiana?
jack greeting from Belgium how many watt is this grill
stargate455 Obh Nordica sells same looking optigrills in north europe. Those are 2000watts. Theres also bigger optigrill XL, with more buttons.
awesome video, this seems perfect for college. Sometimes you don't have time to go crazy on steak, but put it on and wait eat.
did you let it rest before you cut it?
Who else wants to be at Jacks house it must always smell AMAZING!
Mine broke after 2 uses. Got it back from waranty, hope it will last this time .
nothing comes close to T-fal when it comes to making steaks and chicken and few other things. perfect every time all the time.
I'm seriously impressed.
Thanks a lot ! I buy one Now !
I think Optigrill needs to give you a couple to give away because I went from "That's really expensive" to "I MUST HAVE IT" in the time it took to watch this video.
Cooking With Jack Show You should've done a defrost test. Overall though, it looks like a pretty good machine.
Thanks for the review!
What is the knife you are using in the video?
can you test out Pressure Pro
Excellent review Jack

It's everything I ever wanted my george foreman grill to do and then some... I need this in my life.
Would not been happy with the medium stake, it looks more like a well done to me. Medium is red in the middle. But still a cool product though!
great review. Makes me feel better that I just ordered it
How do you remove the plates?
There's a button on the side.
@@CanIHasThisName
Thanks. I finally found them hidden away.
T-Fal is a good brand. I didnt expect it to fail :)
It's nice :) Bought it today.
Alright well damn now im getting one.
how does it do bacon?
You stopped them too early except for the last one which you got right with the multiple beeps of well done.
LMAO @ I'm going to cry. You are too funny but I love your video. Thanks man. LOL
as of 01/18 they're on ebay for $84 new.
Wow! I need this!
I love it i have to buy it - thank you show us
You read my mind. I was going to ask you to review this
I'm about to get one of these on a garage sale app.. is this just for meats? or do you think you can make hot sandwiches, like Panini's or grilled cheese with it?.. if so- I'm sold..
It makes excellent paninis
Been looking to replace my forman grill
I just got to get me one soon.
