    Very informative. I just placed my order earlier today for this unit. I've been watching videos for several days to see if it would suit my needs for both recording and live applications. Yours is the only video that pointed out the importance of what signal to send and the importance of keeping that clip light off. Great video. I'm subscribing and hope you share more vids on the headrush.

      Awesome. Im glad you got the info you needed to help you with your purchase. I will be releasing Headrush videos every week for a very long time. It's a great unit and very useful in the studio or on the stage.

    Thanks Doc McFarland! This is excellent. I'm a slow learner and I've found your teaching exceptional. I've been doing music for 33+ years; writing recording at a sjerious level... I've heard terms for years, and then you give a quick explanation that finally makes sense, like Gain Staging! You are a blessing Bro!

    Great vid. I bought the Headrush a few months back and still struggle to dial in tones. Any chance for a video explaining how to incorporate analog pedals into the HR? Thanks. Subscribed!

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  6 років тому

      Thanks. The fx in the Headrush are closely modeled after their analog counterparts. If you understand how the analog gear works in the signal chain then you should have a good experience dialing in tones in be Headrush. The Fx loop is where you will need to connect your analog pedals. A video on that topic is coming soon.

    I do believe that the main advantage of this pedalboard over its competitors is the fact that, in case of ambience music one can have multiple instances of delay and reverb , placed almost everywhere whilst the others do not, offer this nor in terms of numbers (the AX8 for example allows only 1 block delay and 1 block reverb) and/or in terms of placement options. When it comes to good tones availablefor hard rock, metal and fusion then the headrush is more limited compared with Fractal and/or Kemper. Even by trying to replicate a rig combination with the same settings and other 3rd parties IR on the Headrush I find that the result is much different and not so preferable compared with the others. This to say that I'm now frankly pondering whether to keept it for the advantage mentioned above or just let it go. It's a pity to have only a half-way good solution. It good have been really the number one in sales.

      I think for metal tones you can use a Mesa Boogie MKII model and a tube screamer and it should sound pretty good. I find the HR so valuable in the studio for recording purposes. I mostly play rock and blues type stuff so the fender and Marshall amps are perfect for what I do. the Bogner amps can get pretty brutal tones for metal as well.

    I do have a question. My Headrush should be delivered by this Thursday. I'm playing through a Marshall DSL100H full stack, not a mixer. Your thoughts on whether I should use the 4 cable method, or run the Headrush solely through the effects loop on the back of the head, or 3rd option of straight out from the Headrush to the front line in on the tube head? I value your input and knowledge so hopefully you can give me the best setup since you're already familiar with the Headrush.

    Just a thought. I've noticed people are creating sounds on the Headrush and selling them. With your knowledge of sound and parameters I'm sure you'd create some good ones.

    Dr. McFarland, I purchased this wonderful Head Rush pedal board rig. Your tutorials are very informative and I was wondering if you would be so kind as to make a video of how to build a rig that would give me the David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) sound. I have tried sever times however I seem to be having a difficult time getting his sound. I know he is using a fuzz, reverb, overdrive or boost and delay but I can not seem to get his awesome sound. I think there a lot of other musicians out there also looking for Mr. Gilmore's sound as I have heard it in one of the tutorials on UA-cam but the gentleman who has a great version of Mr. Gilmore's sound does not share his patches or settings. It would be much appreciated if you could help us less advanced musicians with Mr. Gilmore's patches and settings in his rig. Merry Christmas sir....God Bless.

    Can the Gigboard output wet/dry from the left/right outouts?

    Howdy, can you do a video on when and how best to set the Gate threshold in the “INPUT” and when it makes sense to use an actual gate in the signal chain? Do you need to change anything in the Input settings if you do have a separate gate in a block in the chain?

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  6 років тому

      What style of music are you playing? My gate usually sits around 85 db and the noise filter up around 90db. This really helps with the higher gain tones and allows the notes to ring out.

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  6 років тому

      The gate on the HR should be more than sufficient to where you don’t need a separate noise gate pedal.

    • @jasonfischer3375
      @jasonfischer3375 6 років тому

      Doctor McFarland Studios thank you, I was building a Van Halen rig, one of the recommended items was a noise gate, what I was doing was trying to recreate the “traditional” pedal board/5150 amp signal Chain in my HR board. Got pretty close but was playing around with having the all the time gate + the additional gate in a block in the chain. I was thinking I probably don’t need both but wasn’t sure when it would make sense to ever have to use a separate gate other than the one in the input section?

    • @jasonfischer3375
      @jasonfischer3375 6 років тому

      Noise gate after the amp. My chain was, input “gate”, stone phaser, flanger, chorus, tube screamer, Amp, delay reverb, Gate, IR cab
