The most efficient person washing by hand is incapable of comparing to how little water a full dishwasher uses. It’s not even close. If you care about the environment and water usage, an energy efficient dishwasher is the answer.
I really appreciate you taking all the information you gather from the research and from your interviews and condensing it down into a very palatable video that is densely packed with useful information. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do
Thank god for this video. Struggled with what doctors call CFS but for me it's extreme chronic inflammation and visceral fat increases symptoms exponentially such that I lose my way, stay fat and therefore stay unwell. Working hard to go very lean and HIIT is so effective against my symptoms.
As an engineer, I find it incongruous that our dishwashers with their rather intense rinse cycles could leave a film on dishes and flatwear that would be easily removed by a casual rinse in the sink.
I think rinse aid might be the biggest issue. Thomas has mentioned rinse aid in another video long ago. So even though your dish does a thorough job rinsing the spotless drying process leaves a toxic film behind.
Dang, now I have to research how to clean my dishes properly in the dishwasher. Crazy as it sounds I will take a look at adding vinegar. I will explain later…
@ that’s a great idea if the issue is that the last task of a normal machine is to add the rinse agent so that the dishes don’t water spot! If that is the mechanism that Thomas is referring to it would make sense!
High intensity exercise (specifically weight lifting) will ALSO double your ketone production (likely by burning hard through any stored or generated glucose). My ketone levels go from around 2 to mid 4’s easy, when I lift weights. I lift for a half hour or so, 3x a week, with dumbbells. Nothing heavier than 25lbs each. Curls, chest press, triceps kickbacks, bent over rows, deadlifts and squats. Hit pretty much everything, and nothing fancy.
food for thought: Without getting into the details, as my dishwasher is old and there are many varieties; My final rinse in the dishwasher is with Borax. I believe that residue is useful to us as a trace mineral. Also - the vast majority of dishwashers aren't designed to use the pods, either. Just avoid the pods.
I've avoided emulsifiers for two years now. Recently i tried some dark chocolate that contained emulsifiers and i noticed it had a soapy texture. It really feels intuitive that it would strip the mucus layer from your intestines.
Celiac it's an autoimmune decease. If I eat pasta, it's only imported form Italy, and we also have flour that improted form italy or GF flour (Sorghum, coconut,)
Great breakdown! I'm glad you mentioned about the a2 milk, I'm starting to see more and more of that. Maybe you can make a video on this specific down the road ✌️
I’ve seen more and more A2 milk on the stores I go to. Wondering about A2 half and half and A2 heavy cream. Would these be helpful? Or is there so little of that protein in these products that it’s not worth worrying about? I haven’t yet seen them on store shelves.
My wife and I have just discovered Alexandre Family Farm A2/A2 milk products. We noticed a digestive difference but haven’t noticed an inflammation difference.. yet! Higher quality for sure but shorter shelf life… so good though!
I’m pretty sure the last thing a dishwasher does before ending the cleaning cycle is a rinse. I’m also pretty sure the rinse is done just with water so if that’s correct, what’s the point in rinsing them, using the same water source, just before use?
Interesting about the dish washer. Since moving back to the US and using a dishwasher all the time, my gut inflamation has been out of control. My dishwasher has an extra rinse option. I'll use the cycle for a month or two and see if it helps. If it does, I'll come back and edit this post.
We buy Kalona dairy products which are all grass fed. We make our own kefir from their whole milk which is fantastic for gut health with the healthy bacteria
Thanks for posting, Thomas. I always get so much out of your inflammation videos. I've been using the Kineon for a while now. I love the device, but I didn't care for the strap setup. I started using a basic lashing strap that I had. For me, it's easier to use than the supplied strapping system. It also allows for you to place the modules closer together than the factory straps. I did order the extra extender strap. By using a long lashing strap, I eliminate the need for that as well.
Me too... and i like the bit stronger taste👍🏻 As i heard once, the black&white cows (Holstein cows, much milk, live long) are a1... The brown cows should be a2 And gout and sheep definitely a2

I have been saying for years that the harsh commercial dish soaps can not be good for us. Think about how strong they are at breaking down fat deposits (lipids) even when you hand wash. Use sparingly and rinse very thoroughly.

Excelant info, thanks. And thanks for details such as were to get one of those infrared lights. I don't mind product pushing when done with noble intent.
Topic dairy. I think you should also look into what homogenization does to the milk in terms of total denaturization. Because many A2 vendors then homogenize the milk, totally defeating the idea to have something less irritating. Thanks for the great content!
As someone who has a pretty severe flare up myself from most common breads I started ordering flour from France and Italy (shipping is pretty $$$ but worth it) for making homemade sourdough and pizza. The difference is stunning. Even making bread from local flour there is a response that is noticeable but this is totally different somehow. I can eat bread made from those flours every day if I want and the inflammatory response is neglible by comparison. I've also completely switched dairy to A2 and goat milk based so no complaints there.
Eat alot of dairy. Probably too much. Cheese. But have to be careful i do get reactons to it. Milk i do not drink. Yuch. Like to eat yogurt. But again have to be careful. Constipating. And it may affect my body pain.

I’ve lived with a dishwasher for 21 years. And I haven’t used it even once. The residue is obvious. And it had to be detergent. How could that be anything but bad for you? I’ve recently been thinking about using the dishwasher. It saves so much time. If I do, I will definitely rinse the dishes, using my fingerprints. Our fingerprints are actually very useful for cleaning things. Probably vital before soap was invented.
I didn't even know I was gluten intolerant. My tongue was sometimes sore and white. I thought I had a fungus. I had hemorrhoids and loose stomach sometimes. I removed gluten and everything went away. Keep in mind that you can be lactose intolerant at first before your intestines have healed. The lactose receptors are on the intestinal villi. It has to heal before you can tolerate lactose again.
Full spectrum bulbs are 5000K, no more than 5500K. Lower is warm yellow light, higher is blue light. A lot of smart bulbs (which fit into normal sockets) can be set to 5000K. White hydroponic lights are also generally full spectrum. Having full spectrum bulbs in all your lamps can improve your mood a lot.
I also use monkfruit, Stevia and honey. Another YTer didn’t think too much of the last two; so I feel a lot better now, especially since I keep hearing so much about allulose which is much harder to get.

The difference in wheat products between NA and Europe has nothing to do with gluten. It is a red herring. flour in enriched in NA, it isn't in Europe. That is the difference.
I was under the impression that the Monsanto “Roundup ready” wheat used in America was the problem. There is a condition “non-coeliac gluten intolerance” resulting from ingesting products made from this wheat. People with this issue go to Italy and eat the bread there without any ill effects.
@@alisonclunes9745 Yeah.... no. Like the Frankenfood arguments of the 90s, the same misinformation still exists. Roundup Ready plant strains is nothing exciting when you understand what it means. Through a highly efficient process of selective breeding, they created a strain of wheat, canola, barley and corn that does not react to glyphosate based herbicides. Essentially they bread wheat with a type of grass till they got the trait they desired. It is no more weird than red haired people or small dogs. Gluten intolerance when studied came down to nothing more than a socially pressured placebo effect. I cannot quote the study performed but it was in the states, and it came down to if you told people it had gluten, they felt ill, if you told them it didn't they were fine. The exception is true celiac people which is a hormone imbalance. You must remember that humans engineering food is nothing new. We've been going it since the dawn of agriculture. but when it is done by someone is a white coat vs a straw hat people panic. BUT mills being required to add extras and fortifying flours is a reasonably recent thing and it is the one thing we do here that they don't there. the addition of folic acid for example, which ~50% of people lack the digestive enzymes to use, which leads to buildup in the body and causes inflammation.
@@alisonclunes9745roundup should be forbidden in europe since 2024....but politicians had allow the use for annother 10ys 😝 But i think the use here in europe is not that excessive...
Thomas- I think it would be cool if you could do like some kind of a loaner program where you could loan out (with a reasonable deposit or hold on a credit card) for a short time some of these products that sponsor you. Instead of sending a brand new unit for each customer, you could have sone dedicated rental devices like the red light lasar thing. That way, people could feel totally free to do a short trial period with a used device for a small investment, and then if they like it they can buy one. Or they can even buy the rental one for a discount.
Ahhh...Thomas. I know I'm in trouble when the things to quit list calls me out on even the first item. 😒 Guilty. Life gets too busy and trips to the gym for routine vigorous exercise are often cancelled for other activities.

Kefir and organic plain yogurt are generally less inflammatory than other dairy products, as the fermentation process breaks down much of the lactose and casein, making them easier to digest. Kefir, in particular, is rich in probiotics that support gut health and may reduce inflammation by promoting a balanced gut microbiome. However, trace amounts of lactose and casein may still remain, which could be an issue for those with severe sensitivities or dairy allergies. Choosing unsweetened, high-quality organic versions maximizes their anti-inflammatory potential for most people.
“And thy Lord has inspired the bee, saying, ‘Make thou houses in the hills and in the trees and in the trellises which they build. Then eat of every kind of fruit, and follow the ways of thy Lord that have been made easy for thee.’ There comes forth from their bellies a drink of varying hues. Therein is cure for men. Surely, in that is a Sign for a people who reflect.” Surah Nahl "Bee", verse 69-70. This is for honey, mentioned in the Quran. I don't know Bible verse I would like to read it. It was always my favorite way to get out of ketosis.
Thomas!! Can you do a video where you can guide us how we can combine carbs and still burn fat throughout the day for optimal mental clarity / workout performance balance? Should metabolically flexible individuals, like myself, stay in 150-200 net carbs mode depending on exercise intensity, without getting brain fog throughout the day?
I am afraid of the A2 milks. I have been lactose or milk and cream intolerant since my early 20s, I am 75 now. I can eat yogurt, cheese, sheep or goat cheese. No problem.
I don’t like the plastic walls and components ie rack and spin thing in a dishwasher leaving plastic particles on everything. I always used less soap and did an extra rinse but now I just hand wash everything with seventh generation fragrance free dish soap and air dry. Dishwashers also get moldy even if you leave the door ajar (you can’t see it, it’s underneath the drain part )and mold is very not good.
A2 milk messes me up just as much, if not more than regular milk. However, grass fed milk of any variety has a much lower chance of giving me symptoms and the ones I do get are not nearly as bad.

Adding vinegar to the rinse aid port? Don't know about that.
How about running a plain hot water rinse cycle in the dishwasher.
@ that’s a great idea if the issue is that the last task of a normal machine is to add the rinse agent so that the dishes don’t water spot! If that is the mechanism that Thomas is referring to it would make sense!
Love your approach to teaching, and this was yet another excellent video! Thanks for the contribution you make to public health.
Thanks Thomas, your channel has information that i rarely see in other channels, other channels copy from you after you put it out there.
More health channels should make direct key point videos like this to spread the information to reach and help more people.
food for thought:
Without getting into the details, as my dishwasher is old and there are many varieties;
My final rinse in the dishwasher is with Borax. I believe that residue is useful to us as a trace mineral.
Also - the vast majority of dishwashers aren't designed to use the pods, either. Just avoid the pods.
It’s not the detergent it’s the rinse aid that stays on your dishes. Stop using rinse aid!
Thanks TD, you are still da man.
I've avoided emulsifiers for two years now. Recently i tried some dark chocolate that contained emulsifiers and i noticed it had a soapy texture. It really feels intuitive that it would strip the mucus layer from your intestines.
14:31 what I’ve started to do is run a rinse only cycle after my wash cycle has finished. To get any residue off.
Same in our home as well!
Celiac it's an autoimmune decease. If I eat pasta, it's only imported form Italy, and we also have flour that improted form italy or GF flour (Sorghum, coconut,)
Where do you get the Italian pasta?
Great breakdown!
I'm glad you mentioned about the a2 milk, I'm starting to see more and more of that.
Maybe you can make a video on this specific down the road ✌️
I’ve seen more and more A2 milk on the stores I go to. Wondering about A2 half and half and A2 heavy cream. Would these be helpful? Or is there so little of that protein in these products that it’s not worth worrying about? I haven’t yet seen them on store shelves.
@vickielster3928 I'd be curious on all the types of A2 milk products available now.
Lol, I've been rinsing my dishes because i smelled soap, prayed about it and i got rinse your dishes.
Were you drunk while writing this 😵💫
What did i just read? You smelled dish soap on your dishes and prayed about it? “Thought” about it, you mean? Lol
Lots of people use a rinse aid, which is more problematic than the detergent.
Great video, I didn't realise I was guilty of 9 of the 13 things, ... making changes immediately
I can't do w/out the dairy. Kefir really seems to help my gut/digestion and I just could not get enough protein w/out cottage cheese/greek yogurt.
Dairy is definitely one of my Achilles heels!
...... and i think it's way healthier than protein powder
Interesting about the dish washer. Since moving back to the US and using a dishwasher all the time, my gut inflamation has been out of control. My dishwasher has an extra rinse option. I'll use the cycle for a month or two and see if it helps. If it does, I'll come back and edit this post.
Be releaxed as much as possible. Get good sleep recover from your exercese and get as less stress as possible. Eat healty that gifs tge most benefiet.
Knowing that the problematic element is casein, steering clear of casein protein powder and enjoying whey sounds good. Lecithin provides choline.
You are a BEACON of good information. Respect for what you do. Keep up the good work.
We buy Kalona dairy products which are all grass fed. We make our own kefir from their whole milk which is fantastic for gut health with the healthy bacteria
Excellent info! Thank you! 🙏
I thought you were a big fan of allulose?
You didn’t mention it here in your list of sweeteners. Why?! Have you changed your mind on it?
Thanks for posting, Thomas. I always get so much out of your inflammation videos. I've been using the Kineon for a while now. I love the device, but I didn't care for the strap setup. I started using a basic lashing strap that I had. For me, it's easier to use than the supplied strapping system. It also allows for you to place the modules closer together than the factory straps. I did order the extra extender strap. By using a long lashing strap, I eliminate the need for that as well.
I've read that goat milk is a2. I've been taking in mostly goat dairy; milk, yogurt, cheese and kefir, for sometime. My gut buddies seem happier.
Me too... and i like the bit stronger taste👍🏻
As i heard once, the black&white cows (Holstein cows, much milk, live long) are a1...
The brown cows should be a2
And gout and sheep definitely a2
So glad I gave up alcohol nearly 5 1/2 years ago
A2 milk for me ... grew up in Switzerland and since I moved to Canada I was struggling with milk until I foubd A2 here about 15 years ago. No issues any more 🙂
I've heard that the brown cows in Switzerland are a2 cows, but the german black&white Holstein cows (more profit& that counts sadly ) are a1
Goat&sheep definitely a2....
-From me as a german 🙄
So which 2 emulsifiers are ok to eat? Lecithin and?
I have been saying for years that the harsh commercial dish soaps can not be good for us. Think about how strong they are at breaking down fat deposits (lipids) even when you hand wash. Use sparingly and rinse very thoroughly.
What is the best type and brand of honey to have? Organic raw honey?
He said manuka honey 🍯
Probably a local honey, 100% so you know it’s not cut with some bullshit. Local so you get local seasonal energy benefits
@@joe1071 Cool thanks. I just saw one of his other videos that said the best to buy is raw buckwheat honey. I've read mixed reviews on it though regarding the taste.
If u have a costco by u they sell it. It's expensive . But one origin honey or local is good also.
@@jeanjospitre737 Oh cool, thanks a lot!
If only we had a food agency to look out for us.
You left out allulose on your list of good sweeteners. Have you changed your mind on it?
Bought it, it doesn't taste sweet unfortunately, kinda nothing like really. I was surprised and saddened with the 5# bag I will now store until my death.😂
Excelant info, thanks. And thanks for details such as were to get one of those infrared lights. I don't mind product pushing when done with noble intent.
Thomas Delaur 3 weeks ago: eat more fermented foods like cottage cheese
Thomas Delaur 2 weeks ago: casin proteins are inflammatory
😠 which is it?!?
Topic dairy. I think you should also look into what homogenization does to the milk in terms of total denaturization. Because many A2 vendors then homogenize the milk, totally defeating the idea to have something less irritating.
Thanks for the great content!
I have to talk with my store manager where I work to change those blue lights for red ones..
Good Stuff, Thomas
Is cold pressed black seed oil healthy?
Sweetener - Allulose? Opinion?
Tx Thomas this was thoroughly useful information, I don't eat honey, worried about the bees, yes one of those people; living in Canada Maple Syrup yes in small quantities and I think oatmeal gets a bad rap steel cut or oat groats; dates nuts seeds wild blueberries etc. been my breakfast for years with homemade yoghurt. Thank god for Instant pots! I use olive oil but small bottles and frankly don't cook with it; it's mostly in salads where it doesn't get exposed to high heat. You did a segment on buckwheat recently which due to my family's background has been part of how I eat forever ... (i live near an Asian market a plethora of mushrooms and soba noodles ... Miso paste doesn't have the same effect on blood pressure as I know you know ..... i make my own kimchi, and sprout broccoli; life long foodie .... My dog gets it as a food topping .... Also wild rice is easier to obtain up here in Canada than elsewhere also farro and watercress, Don't eat rice, not worth it.... I no longer feel guilty about Pecorino Romano btw which is now mostly from Sardinia, although when at school in Lausanne the cows grazing on fairly high altitudes probably produced high quality butter which I never thought about .... recently went on Chronometer out of curiosity; my fibre is about 69 grams (beans) and you would disapprove;re protein averages; I do do 8 hour intermittant feeding window, just used to it now; get 20 gms protein per meal which I think you might find a bit low (I weigh about 115 lbs) ....rambling on a bit; a really great post have been sharing it with friends ,,,, many tx! I am aspirationally vegan but have made my peace with my diet. In my later years, yes I do resistance training it's been really helpful. I could go on and on and thankfully won;t. Been subscribed to your channel for yonks; the food wars have kept me silent but I'm too old to care now. You provide a much appreciated service!
"THERE IS A SCALE" ....This needs to be said more. Too many listen to health stuff and see things in a black and white manner.
Thank you for sharing your research - really loving your work👍
I’ve lived with a dishwasher for 21 years.
Hey Thomas, Could you please share your wisdom with those of us who work the graveyard shift? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know how to overcome the effects of the stress on our bodies as switch back and forth (shift work) I personally work week on and week off. 530 pm to 530 am. any insight would be greatly appreciated
Somehow I did not like Thomas, but his videos are top notch. Good job man !
When you mention alternatives to alcohol to "get a buzz', I'm surprised good old fashioned marijuana in all it's many forms doesn't come up. If used in moderation and in ways other than smoking (burning) it, a little THC does a body good. 🌿🌿
Yep.
And if you buy THC online called delta 8 they contain cbd which is anti inflammatory!
But it gives you the munchies..
Always very intelligent and informative
bro-science
It's not the gluten, it's the glyphosate.
@@alisonclunes9745roundup should be forbidden in europe since 2024....but politicians had allow the use for annother 10ys 😝
But i think the use here in europe is not that excessive...
Surprised you didn't include Allulose as one of your go-to sweeteners.
LED lighting in your living space is DEADLY....
Excellent video. Thank you!
The last thing your dishwasher does is rinse.
I agree 100% with NEAT. It makes complete sense and it's self-evident really.
Ahhh...Thomas. I know I'm in trouble when the things to quit list calls me out on even the first item. 😒 Guilty. Life gets too busy and trips to the gym for routine vigorous exercise are often cancelled for other activities.
I'd like to hear more about the white wheat variety and how it affects us differently... also where you can find it.
Whats your opinion on Allulose as a sweetener?
He promotes it, says it decreases appetite
I had big draft beer the other day and I could tell the glass wasn’t rinsed well because it tasted a lot like dish soap. A double whammy.
As always, thank you for sharing your insight and knowledge with us. A lot of the said foods I have been avoiding for years.
PS: I am always amazed how you can name off 6-syllable words so eloquently.
Does hand cleaning with Dawn dishsoap also leave toxic residue?
What is "Manuca " honey ? Is organic honey the same ? There is a store here that sells pure honey straight from the hive.
Just make sure it's "raw" honey.
Manuka is better, but not necessarily for the price.
I was given Manuka honey from a doctor to put on a wound from a snakebite.
Good stuff!
It's organic but harvested from a special area, look it up.
What about Kefir? Or Organic plain yogurt! I need answers…I’m so confused
For umami, just sprinkle mushroom powder into or onto your food.
Very helpful. Can you give supplement suggestions for women in their 50s?
Mixed diet of healthy carbs, protein and fat. Get a variety of whole foods
So, is sunflower lecithin really that much better for you than soy lecithin?
great video! thank you :)
Can't I just use the rinse cycle after regular wash?
LASERS!!! Count me in captain!
That’s why I stopped eating canned sardines. Always react when I eat them, and pretty sure it’s oxidized oils they are packed in. Bummer
Why would you not eat sardines packed in water? Very easy to find on any grocery shelf.
Raw dairy is best. There are legal safe brands in Australia now
I am afraid of the A2 milks. I have been lactose or milk and cream intolerant since my early 20s, I am 75 now. I can eat yogurt, cheese, sheep or goat cheese. No problem.
I have a tablespoon of oliver oil every morning my skin my gut is great

It's what makes Nutella chocolate creamy and spreadable
I don’t like the plastic walls and components ie rack and spin thing in a dishwasher leaving plastic particles on everything. I always used less soap and did an extra rinse but now I just hand wash everything with seventh generation fragrance free dish soap and air dry. Dishwashers also get moldy even if you leave the door ajar (you can’t see it, it’s underneath the drain part )and mold is very not good.
A2 milk messes me up just as much, if not more than regular milk. However, grass fed milk of any variety has a much lower chance of giving me symptoms and the ones I do get are not nearly as bad.
