    I find the removal of Carlos from Ferrari to be incredibly disappointing. For the life of me, I can’t understand why Ferrari broke up a driver pairing that has worked so well. It isn’t a commentary on Lewis, but rather me expressing puzzlement as to why they would break up a driver pairing that works. They are throwing away one of the best drivers in Formula One in the prime of his career. Crazy.
    It is equally crazy why Red Bull didn’t put him in Checo’s seat and rather would prefer some untested green driver instead. Are they that insecure that they’re letting Jos Verstappen decide who takes that cockpit?

      @@MaRiOx914 that's a fair assessment, though the end result was the same; whether it was Ferrari's shortcomings or Seb's, his last season was just painful to behold and an extremely unsatisfying end to what had been a mostly good partnership. It's not lost on me that Seb won more races for Ferrari than Charles and Carlos combined. All that said, his last season was tragic and unworthy of his talent. It was more painful that he left F1 before the Aston Martin project finally came good (however briefly).

    Carlos is the perfect team mate to a great driver like Leclerc. If Charles is on it, Carlos has that 1.5 tenth ultimate pace disadvantage to not interfere with him but also back him up in terms of strategy and finish very closely behind him which is great for the constructors’ and potentially taking points away from Leclerc’s championship rivals. But also, he’s so consistently fast and still on a very high level himself that if Leclerc has a weekend where he just doesn’t find the pace, Carlos will still be there which also really pushes Leclerc to still improve in the aspects where he isn’t perfect yet. I think we can see that effect on Leclerc this year, he’s driving better than he ever has, if Ferrari deliver the car next year he is definitely ready to bring home the championship and I’m a bit worried for Hamilton because there’s not much in it between those two now and he is coming into Leclerc’s team.

    Firing Carlos for Hamilton almost seems like Ferrari killing the goose that lays the Golden egg from time to time in the hope of infinite Golden eggs and instead ending up with nothing in the end.
    They are trading a rock solid team where the drivers a almost equally Capable but also restrained and respectful enough to race hard without crashing into each other for two drivers who needs the entire team around them, which may lead to the team splitting. I’d rate him just above drivers from the early 2010s like Bottas, Perez. Hulk, and Ricciardo. Best of the midfield drivers that given the car and right conditions can grab wins and podiums, but can’t string it along consistently in a season or even for multiple.
    Bonus: I could see him almsot as Mark Weber, given the proper chance he could contend and potentially win a championship, but he’d need to be perfect, which unfortunately for Mark he wasn’t in 2010.

    Let's be real, this whole generation of drivers has been having frustrating careers. Other than Max of course.
    When Leclerc got to Ferrari and almost won his 2nd race there already, it looked like he was going to have a stellar career but Ferrari let him down too many times since then.
    Carlos wasn't as impressive in his first seasons, but what hampered him is the fact that Red Bull dropped him. He had to survive "in the wild" jumping from team to team because Red Bull chose Max, and they always operate with a slower outsider as the teammate of their champ.
    So, basically, Red Bull's domination and the fact that they won't allow two competitive drivers there has been hampering the chances of other talents.

    I mean in fairness as Albon and now Colapinto have shown the Williams isn't actually a bad car (it only looked like a bad car because Logan Sargeant was a very bad driver). And as McLaren have proven this season, it's not impossible for a 'customer team' to compete for wins and titles, but Williams are still a LONG way off that.

    Hulkenberg is story is also very similar story to JB. Don't get me wrong, my favourite drive by far is JB and in Sainz with the current era of Formula 1. I think people like sainz and hulkenberg are like championship material. They know how to get the best of the team and to get on track performance at a consistent pace. Being stuck behind a faster car can be frustrating at times but, they know their positions, and have many laps on the displine/category. Baku this year was a flash point. Something sainz would like to forget. And Sainz and hulkenberg don't need to prove it that they are very good drivers. You know they are. Once you learn their quality.

    Honestly, seeing a video 5 or so years ago showing Carlos' amazing recovery drive to finish 4th or something is a big part of what made me an F1 fan. (The other big part was watching Jimmy Broadbent doing some of those lockdown-time races involving a few of the F1 drivers.) So yeah, been a big Carlos fan this whole time, I've always thought he is slightly underrated, especially compared to Charles who gets so much hype. I was gutted to hear Lewis would be replacing him at Ferrari. It makes no sense, really. Except it's Lewis so of course it makes sense. Also sucks that none of the other top teams were interested and he's going to Williams... I like Williams don't get me wrong. But I'm hoping they can make strides in their performance pretty fast because Carlos deserves a good car. So does Alex tbh.

    • @PiousMoltar
      @PiousMoltar 7 годин тому

      Actually that reminds me, I was kinda gutted that he even left McLaren for Ferrari in the first place. Again, it makes sense, who would turn down Ferrari? But he probably should have turned them down as it turns out... if he had stuck with McLaren he would honestly have probably had the same level of success, Lando and Oscar now being race winners themselves of course... although that Oscar race win was a joke let's be honest. I mean sure I do believe he could have won anyway if McLaren hadn't messed everything up with the strategy. But having Lando just slow way down and give him the win was absolutely ridiculous, and if Lando finishes less than 7 points behind Max they're going to have a lot to answer for.

Not only will he need to try and beat Leclerc, but he'll need to prove that Ferrari made the right decision to drop Sainz who was already doing a very good job. Button is an odd comparison. In the 3 years at McLaren following his WC he basically exactly matched Lewis Hamilton, more so than Sainz has matched Leclerc. And even if 7 WCs for Hamilton do considerably oversell his driving ability (3-4 probably would have been 'fair') and Charles Leclerc might have earned his first one by now, Sainz is arguably still a solid distance away from peak JB AND he would have to get his hands on a car that is more outstanding than the 1-in-25-years Brawn of 2009 AND he would have to avoid being paired with one of the 4-6 drivers who would outscore him in an average season. Plus Verstappen will likely be around as long as Sainz is around.
    That's so many ifs that Sainz has maybe a 0.5% chance of becoming WC in any given season. Less than that in a current-day Williams.

  • @jimmystoney8029

    Ferrari chose Hamilton over Sainz simply because of his celebrity status that can bring a lot in a marketing perspective, and sponsorships. While I understand Hamilton is a 7x champion and Sainz has nothing yet, but is Hamilton really still capable of even matching prime years at Mercedes? If Ferrari could fight for the championship in 2025, how will he cope having Leclerc as his teammate who is hungry for a championship himself. Sainz been upping his game since his struggles in 2022, still yet to find his prime. Leclerc is obviously still a superior driver, but hes not even that far off. The Ferrari lineup is one of, if not the most superior lineup on the grid. I'd put Hamilton and Russell close 2nd, and Mclaren 3rd. If Ferreri wins the constructors this year, it will be solely down to the drivers that made it possible. It's disappointing why Ferrari even chose Hamilton in the first place, when he's only there short term. It's not even guaranteed he'll be #1 over Leclerc.

    The Digs on Norris during this video were honestly getting kind of ridiculous.
    It's okay to think that maybe he isn't a "Real" Championship Contendor because the Gap is 47 points and it feels too much with 4 races and 2 Sprints to go (even though Verstappen is defending every race knowing and believing Norris is absolutely a real threat).
    But to even suggest that you think he isn't better than Sainz is crazy.
    Norris is 1 of 2 drivers on the grid, that have never lost a Qualifying Battle over a season to their teammate, and that included Beating Sainz in Qualifying in both 2019 & 2020 as a rookie and a sophomore.
    On top of that he has generally been one of the fastest & most consistent drivers on the grid, who 90% of the time extracts the absolute maximum out of the car, rather than Sainz who hits that ceiling maybe 5 times a year.
    Even in teammate comparison when you see how they're stacking up against their highly regarded teammates (Oscar was considered by some to even be a top 3 driver heading into the Summer break) :
    Norris - 315 Points, 3 wins, 6 poles, 12 podiums, 2 Sprint Podiums, 4 fastest Laps, 16-4 Qualifying Record vs. Piastri.
    Oscar - 251 points, 2 wins, 0 poles, 7 Podiums, 1 Sprint Podium, 1 Fastest Lap.
    Meanwhile when you compare Leclerc to Sainz instead :
    Leclerc - 291 Points, 3 wins, 3 poles, 11 podiums, 0 Sprint Podiums, 3 Fastest Laps. 12-7 Qualifying Record vs. Sainz.
    Sainz - 240 points, 2 wins, 1 pole, 7 Podiums, 1 Sprint Podium, 1 fastest lap.
    The last time Sainz beat Leclerc in a race that him and Charles finished together was in Silverstone before this weekend which was 9 races ago. For the season in races that they have finished together Sainz has finished ahead of Leclerc 6 times total, most of them coming because Leclerc had incidents or issues like Bahrain, Austria, Silverstone, etc.

      Norris may be faster than Carlos in 1 lap but in a race distance it's not even close, proven already. Not to mention how much better Carlos' racecraft and intelligence is and how much better he performs under pressure
      Norris extracts the absolute maximun of the car 90% of the times? Big lol at that. He's had the overall fastest car this season and it's been an embarrasment for him, you're watching a different season. Same for Oscar btw, they've performed they worst season with the best car I've ever seen

    • @TheSwapan48
      @TheSwapan48 6 годин тому

      @elplan3605 But why is Carlos considered faster over a race distance when the only time he beat Norris over race distances was in 2019-20, and one of which was his rookie season and the other just his 2nd year in 2020, that too barely (105 points vs 97 points) and the Race H2H vs 7-7 in races they finished together.
      Since then Norris has proven himself as one of the best tyre managers on the grid, who always has a ton of pace in hand at the end of races, can put as much as 20-25 seconds on Verstappen in race wins and can extend Stints to 50+ Laps with extremely consistent times (Mexico data Shows Norris on Hards was 0.208s per lap Faster than Sainz and 0.358s per lap Faster than Leclerc with older 1-2 lap older tyres than both).

    Question: If he stayed at Torro Rosso for 2018 would he have got the Red Bull seat? Or would the same issues that cost him the seat for next year have cost him then too? How close would he be to Max?

    • @Redlingstein
      @Redlingstein 4 години тому

      SAINZ sr and Jos made mayhem at Toro Rosso. He was never gonna go to RBR. Horner didn’t need, and still doesn’t need, that mayhem repeated in the team.

    • @Redlingstein

      SAINZ is nowhere near Max cos he IS NOT CONSISTENT. He hasn’t been consistentie any season. Always struggling to get grip on the new season car…. Max IS CONSISTENCY.

    Carlos is my favorite driver, that being said I don’t think that Redbull is particularly easy to drive.

      He's adapted to so many different cars already, I think that's ever more the reason RB should've picked him. Who's to say he couldn't handle the RB20?

    • @joshualamp2438
      @joshualamp2438 14 годин тому

      @ I mean, sure, he’d do better than Checo, but I think that car is fucked. McLaren and Ferrari have better vehicle evolution, the Redbull has to be pushed to a razors edge to qualify fast and it can’t keep tyres at this race pace.

    FERRARI DROPPED HIM & THEN MERCEDES CHOSE A ROOKIE TO REPLACE HAMILTON INSTEAD OF SAINZ 🙂‍↔️ A DAMN ROOKIE!!! I AM BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. CARLOS DESERVES BETTER. I AM NO LONGER A FAN OF FERRARI IN ANY WAY. I LIKED THEM BECAUSE OF SAINZ & NOW HE’S BEING KICKED. FERRARI CAN KICK ROCKS NOW 🤬🤬🤬

    He definitely has a better chance to win a championship with williams because he is not winning a championship in Ferrari aslong as leclerc is there

      Hamilton
      Leclerc
      Sainz
      Russel
      Will all be leading the championship

      Sainz was outqualified in 2019 and 2020 against Norris and almost equaled in points despite being much older and experienced. Norris today beats him comfortably. He'd be better than Piastri though

      @charliegath6125 sainz literally did what norris couldn't in Mexico. Overtake on a good smart position.

    I think you over rate Charles alot. Hé over drives the car to often and makes mistakes max and Lewis dont make. Yes hé May have more raw speed but Carlos is more consistent. I think sainz has the same championship capabilitys as Charles. Neither of which are on a lewis/max or Schumacher level. My humble opinion
