Thinking of planning a family vacation here. Would like some thoughts and suggestions. Some things I am trying to determine; What is the cost of items/food on the island? Is there a store to purchase groceries for the house, or is it all market style vendors?
@@joshuachavez9086 Hello, some things you have a harder time finding prices are in US dollars or Lempira some things are higher priced some are about the same. Meat can be hard to find like good steak and such. I purchased hamburger chicken and sausage all were fine. There are main grocery stores but you can find “mart or market” stores that carry some things as well. Depends where you will be staying.
I’m glad your enjoying my island I’m from punta gorda but I live in Seattle I’m flying home next month I got my own house of y’all around come thru come get to know the real Roatan

Very pretty. We have been to Rotan 5 times. Never to West Bay or West End. We will be back this May and have a all inclusive day booked on West Bay. Excited, we will be on a cruise ship, so our stay will be short. We have always visited by cruise ship so have never been to West End or West Bay. What we have seen on the other side of the island is nowhere as nice looking. Thanks for your video

my wife and i will be heading to the island for our 7th visit in Jan for a month, there's no other place like Roatan you will love it there. I think you can stay anywhere on the island and have a great time. Keep in mind, the eastern side of the island is more isolated. So if you want a very quiet vacation that would be the place. We prefer the western side of the island. For a family of five, West Bay would be great. It is a "typical" beach style vacation with a lot of activities. You can catch a water taxi over to the West End for a lot of fun as well. I would advise looking on a site such as VRBO and find something within your budget. You will have a lot of options. There are several places right on the beach in West Bay. Infinity Bay on West Bay is very popular and economical. We did not stay there but spent a lot of time around there and heard good things. Here is a link to a quick search I did on VRBO. Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful video. How much was the other cost e.g. car rental food and airfare? One last thing how you book your lodge?
Thank you so much for watching. We rented a car from the place we stayed so it was cheaper than going through a national company. I thing we paid around $800 for the month. The food on Roatan is generaly inexpensive. We shopped for groceries at Eldon's Supermarket and it had very good prices. Airfare generally varies from when you go but from the United States we paid about $800 per ticket round trip. Look at VRBO and you will find many places to stay. We stayed at Seascape and loved it!
I sooooo want to get back! Been there on Cruises...thinking now just go and stay at resort! My daughter needs to see the Sloths again “Daniel Johnson’s Sloth”. Except for a couple of horror stories on internet about safety... Did you feel safe? Are there places to a avoid? Thank you for posting and sharing your video!❤️
We have not seen the sloths yet but have that on our list. We feel very safe here. The internet is filled with all sorts of horror stories about every place in the world so just take the normal safety precautions that you would take at home. The people are super friendly and helpful. Thanks for watching!
The only current restriction was a 10:00 PM curfew but that really didn't affect us at all. Travelers have to get a negative going in and coming out. Once on the island we didn't even notice COVID ever existed. It was a great month on a beautiful island. Thanks for watching!
We had to get a negative covid test within 72 hours of our flight. We had to fill our some immigration pre-flight forms within 48 hours. They are located at prechequeo.inm.gob.hn/ Each person needs this and print several copies to take with you. Completing the forms takes a couple of hours. It is a little cumbersome but straight forward. Every thing went very smooth for us. Thanks so much for watching!
Some locals told us that COVID was no bad at all. Since it is an island they were able to contain it somewhat. They currently had a 10:00 PM curfew. That was the only restriction we knew of on the island and it didn't bother us since we are usually not out at that time anyway. You will love Roatan, it is a beautiful island with so much to do. Thanks for watching!
