  • An overnight trip to Olympic National Park's Upper Royal Basin and summit of Mount Deception (7,788'), the second tallest peak in the Olympic Mountains. My friend @natebbrown had arranged the trip, but plans had changed on him, and he was left with one open spot. With only one permit available for the trip, Moose graciously took the weekend off so that I could knock another summit off my list.

    Really great job on the day and the film!
    We’re headed up there in 10 days . I can’t believe I scored this video preview as I wants to take a novice up there and that looks like some good class 2 scramble . Helmets , crampons , poles and we’re in for a good time and killer view.

      Thank you! Dig those heels in and master the ol’ scree ski! Headed anywhere particular?

      @@wildoutsiders we just climbed Chiwawa and the downhill was a major struggle! Next time I’ll remember the heels first

      @@chasethealberts Loose rock is always a pain, you just have to remember that the struggle is what makes the accomplishment so great. If it were easy, everyone would be out there doing it - Nice work! What's the next adventure?!

      @@wildoutsiders definitely, it’s always worth it! No adventure planned yet, I’ll have to keep watching more of your videos to pick the next spot we go 😀. Hopefully somewhere with lots of ripe huckleberries.

    Nice dudes!!! Is there a good resource for path finding that you used? I can’t find anything online. Maybe I’m just not searching hard enough….

      Resources are really limited, basically written description in the Olympic Mountain climbing guide. If you’d like to email me at…basecamp@thewildoutsiders.com I can send you the .gpx file from the trip, this would allow you to follow our steps in whatever mapping app you use.

    What time of the year did you do this? This wacky season transition this year has me all messed up.

      @@wildoutsiders This is kind of out there but do you guys have any info on the current snow on Mount Olympus. I need to see if I will bring microspikes or microspikes w/ Crampons

    • @wildoutsiders
      @wildoutsiders  Рік тому

      @@geechyguy3441 I looked at recent satellite imagery and there's snow all the way up to the final scramble, I am not sure of your comfort level but if I were heading that way I would expect to only need MicroSpikes.
      I generally like to be prepared for anything though, and I certainly do not like being turned around due to some obstacle that could have been overcome had I brought the appropriate gear, so if you want to play it safe, bring both!
      Good luck! Let us know how it goes!!!
